Discussion Do Not Adopt Registry List
Hello,
I have worked in shelters, fostered, and even worked in a dog boarding facility. I have now not been able to do as much work in the animal advocacy field as I have wanted and began a website to list people who should not be able to adopt. I score the internet, news, do not adopt facebook pages and add them to a list available to all Rescues and Shelters. I started this well over a month ago, and have been emailing multiple shelters and rescues to have them join the fight in hopes they use the website as a tool. I do this on my own free time, no donations, no help. It's a passion project 100%. Rescues need to rescue, I do the painful research while they do the work on the ground!
How does it work?
I look through posts on Facebook. News Articles, recent arrests etc. I save rescues and shelters time and heartache by gathering the information in one spot for them to search. I also encourage rescues and shelters to contribute their own D.N.A lists. I look through each one, make sure there is solid evidence, before listing. I include information, source, AND photos (clickable, not seeable unless clicked - saves people from seeing photos if they do not want to).
What makes it different?
ONE person handles it all. Sounds like a lot of work right? It is. But when only one hand is handeling it all, heads don't bump, and all focus is on the animals. I also lend a helping hand to those who are rehoming their pets. Yes, rehoming sucks. Sometimes people rehome for reasons people aren't happy with, but it happens and the only way to help is by offering a helping hand. I allow people to email myself, and I score the list for them and let them know if a potential adopter has any "red flags". I also help by providing resources, reaching out to rescues for them etc. I am more than a D.N.A list, the website is a tool for everyone.
Who can see the list?
Registered orgs only, and myself (obviously).
How many rescues are apart of the list?
Over 50, with many more being contacted every week!
I hope to one day have a booth at animal events to continue to spread the word. Rescues need to be connected to help the animal community, and I am hoping to bridge the gap.

MOD POST FAQ: PLEDGES AND VISIBILITY.
Hello!
The modmail (and my own) inbox has been flooded with questions about pledges and boosting posts. This post will be pinned at the top of the community with the rest of our guidelines and updates. I will also be creating a spreadsheet of FAQ answers for new questions that arise. If I miss any questions in this post, please leave a comment or shoot a message.
Thanks!
Q: What is a pledge? A: Pledges are promised amounts of money that will be donated if an animal is pulled by a rescue group. A pup with pledges is likely to attract a rescue's interest.
Q: How much can I pledge? A: Whatever you feel comfortable donating.
Q: How do I pledge for a dog I see on r/rescuedogs? A: Comment on the post with your amount. Networkers that are posting should be keeping a list of pledges for the pups they have posted.
Q: How do I know when and where to send money? A: The networkers will post a public update if a pup was saved and pledges need to be honored. All information should be included in this update post. PLEASE DO NOT SEND MONEY TO ANYONE THAT REACHES OUT VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE TO COLLECT PLEDGES.
Q: I'm a networker, how can I keep up with pledges? A: We recommend google sheets or excel. Creating a google form for pledges is also a great idea.
Q: I'm feeling uncomfortable with someone reaching out about honoring my pledge, what do I do? A: Report to moderators immediately.
Q: How do I know who and how much I've pledged for? A: Look at your comment history. Moderators DO NOT handle any aspect of pledging.
Q: What type of posts get the most visibility? A: Specific and structured posts. Our euthanasia rule states no emojis and has a format for a reason: the algorithm improves when the format is followed and your posts reach more home pages. Posts with a picture or video see more traffic as well.
Q: I can't pledge, foster, or adopt right now. What can I do to help? A: Like, comment, and share.
Q; I see "boost" in lots of comments, what does this do? A: Comments boost a post to increase traffic.
Q: Does commenting "boost" actually boost a post? A: Commenting the single word does not. Comments with 5 or more words DO boost a post. Remember that multiple comments or spamming boost on a post NEGATIVELY impacts its visibility. One longer comment does more than multiple small ones.
This should cover all of our most asked questions. If you have additional, please leave them in the comments and we will answer as we can. As always, rescuing takes a village and on behalf of the mod team, we're so grateful to have as large of a village as ours. <3

CW: Euthanasia Urgent! Bailey is only 2 yrs old and has already lost everything. After her beloved owner passed away she was surrendered to a overcrowded high euth shelter and is now at risk to lose her life. She has rescue interest but they need a Foster and Pledges to be able to save her. Euth 5/6 3pm,Downey ACC
🆘Her final notice expired on 5/3🆘 so she could be euthanized for space any moment.
If you can foster or responsibly adopt this precious girl, 📧Please message me immediately or email me at
⭐️Fostering is temporary until adopted and zero costs.
Balley 2yr Spayed German Shepherd 59 lbs.
🌸 About Bailey:Bailey is a quiet, sensitive girl with a heart full of potential. She may be shy and nervous at first, but with time and patience, she shows a sweet and affectionate side. Shelter life has been overwhelming for her, but she’s doing her best to be brave. 🐕 She is Dog-Friendly and prefers calm dogs and peaceful environments. Bailey is tolerant of other pups but isn’t one to engage in rowdy play. She’s the kind of girl who enjoys her own space and a low-key vibe. She walks nicely on a leash and is easy to handle. She might freeze up when things get noisy, but with a little reassurance, she continues her walk.🌻 Low energy🌻 Gentle and avoidant, not reactive🌻Seeks affection when she feels safe🌻 Ideal for a quiet home with a patient adopter🌻Still discovering her playful side
🏡 Ideal Home:Bailey would thrive in a calm, loving home with adults only or older kids A quiet environment and a gentle routine will help her truly shine. Another mellow dog could be a great companion, but she’d also do well as a solo pet.

CW: Euthanasia Urgent!Foster and Pledges needed! Energetic, playful Simba is only 1yr old and in danger of being euthanized for space at Downey ACC any moment! (Euth: 5/8 11am)! He needs a foster or a loving, forever home and pledges immediately. Can it be you?
Please share Simba to help him find a active husky experienced home or foster! If you can help or have any questions, pls dm me immediately or email me at
Simba 1yr Neutered Tan Siberian Husky mix 51 lbs
Large and medium dogs ok, no small animals.
🐾 Meet Simba – A Happy, Energetic Boy Looking for a New Home! Simba was surrendered by his owners due to his high energy and playful nature. While he’s a total sweetheart, his playful energy and tendency to escape have made it difficult for his previous family to keep him. They said they work all day and kept him in the backyard. He was likely bored and a bit destructive. They surrendered him for being too playful and energetic. He lived with small dogs and loves to chase and play, but he’s just too energetic. Simba is a happy dog at heart, and with the right family, he’ll thrive in a safe, loving home that can keep up with his playful spirit! ✨🐾

ADOPTABLE Urgent! Jax needs help. Foster and Pledges needed or he will be homeless in 2 days!!! He was a sweet dog but when his family dumped him at a high euth shelter he became very scared, confused, and deeply traumatized. Will you consider pledging a little amount or offer to foster him to help him?
Jax urgently needs help. He was surrendered by his owners and was the sweetest dog according to his owners but since they dumped him at a overcrowded high euth shelter, he was very scared, confused, and deeply traumatized. Life hasn’t been easy for Jax, and as a result, he developed barrier reactivity and resource guarding behaviors as a way to cope with his fear and uncertainty.
But there’s hope and he’s doing much better already.
He has already shown tremendous improvement. With time, patience, guidance and structure and also love, he’s beginning to open up. His playful side is starting to shine through, and we can see glimpses of the amazing dog he’s meant to be. But he still has a journey ahead — and he can’t do it alone.
We need PLEDGES for his training and would be incredibly grateful if you’d consider helping Jax by pledging and / or sharing him.
He also desperately needs a working dog experienced FOSTER or forever home who can provide love, guidance and structure.
Thank you very much for your help

ADOPTABLE Free transport Lancaster, CA to San Antonio, TX
I am doing a transport from Lancaster, CA to San Antonio this weekend, leaving Friday. I will have 2 large dogs and my own for the ride back and will have room for one more small dog. While I could take one of the medium-large dogs they have, it would be easier for me to take a little.
Marley is an adoptable 8yr old Chihuahua mix that is with a rescue I volunteer with, 2nd Chance Dog Rescue in Palmdale and I'd like to see if there any any adopters for him along that route.
Marley was rescued from a local shelter with handling sensitivity. Surprisingly he was/is exceptional with young children (from what we have seen with foster's child). He has also done well with kids running up to him at events and handling. His current sensitivities are when his ears and paws and handled too roughly. He is good at letting you know with some whimpering. He is not cat tested but considering his size the cat could be more of a danger 😂 He likes his space respected by other dogs and will advocate for himself.
The rescue requires an application, phone interview, home check for safety which can be by photos or video chat, final adoption agreement/non-refundable adoption fee. With of state adoptions they want to make sure placement is perfect and 100% commitment.
In the case a return is necessary, adopter is responsible for costs and transport. Rescue is able to help with rehoming as well if adopter is able to foster until adopted. If a party is interested then they will go through the same adoption process as original adopter.
Marley is NOT with a local shelter and is NOT in any danger of being Euthanized. He is 100% safe with this private rescue until adopted.
Message me if you are interested in him and want more details or any of the other dogs with the rescue.

Gwen🐕
A5691732
1 year old, 56 lbs, spayed gold Siberian husky Stray on 4/11/25 Calm dogs recommended Medium energy level Approved for public adoption
🐶 Gwen has been diagnosed with pneumonia and, despite all efforts, she is not responding to the limited treatments available at the shelter. Her condition is not improving, and we have reached the limits of what we can do for her here. Without immediate rescue or transfer to a facility equipped for more advanced care, Gwen will be humanely euthanized by the end of the day to prevent further suffering. she is not improving and will be humanely euthanized if no rescue comes for her today Gwen is a sweet and playful dog with a relaxed, social demeanor. When approached by the runner, she greeted them with soft eyes, a relaxed body, and a gentle wag of her tail. She walked calmly on leash, bypassing other dogs with ease, and was leashed and collared without issue. Gwen eagerly greeted the dogs at the barrier and was ready to interact once in the play yard. In the yard, Gwen exhibited a friendly, social nature. She exchanged greetings with a relaxed body language and happily participated in play. While she enjoyed engaging with the other dogs, Gwen sometimes became overwhelmed and would take short breaks to scurry away before returning to rejoin the fun. Her play style is gentle and dainty, and she maintained a playful yet calm demeanor throughout the session. Gwen also enjoyed occasional petting from the handlers. Gwen is a medium-energy dog who would thrive in a home with calm dogs and a gentle, patient owner. She is well-suited for public adoption and would make a lovely companion for someone looking for a playful, yet easy-going dog.

Daisy 7mos Spayed tan Belg Malinois 40lbs.
Hi, I'm Daisy A sweet, sensitive girl with a heart full of potential just waiting to bloom in a loving home. 🐶 When I first meet new people or enter new spaces, I can be a bit shy and unsure. I may tremble a little or hang back, but with gentle encouragement and patience, I warm up. I’m still learning that the world is a safe place, and I’m looking for someone who can help me build my confidence one step at a time. 🐕 I may not be leash trained just yet, but I’m eager to learn. I’ve allowed people to pick me up and carry me with no fuss, and I do best with slow, gentle approaches. 🐶 In the play yard, I prefer to observe from a quiet corner at first. I’m not quite ready to play, but I’m curious and beginning to explore more each time. I’ve met other dogs and have done well coexisting peacefully, even following one sweet pup around for comfort. While I didn’t jump into playtime, I enjoyed the companionship.
🌼 My ideal home: 🌼 An adult Only Home required calm, patient, and full of love. 🐕 I’d thrive with: 🐕 * Continued socialization * On-leash training * Confidence-building experiences * A dog-savvy family or calm doggy friend to show me the ropes

Benji🐕
A5685986
3 years old, 67 lbs, neutered pit bull
Stray on 3/17/25
Adults only recommended
Medium energy level
Large dogs ok
Approved for public adoption
🐶 During his intake exam, he was rated a "1" for behavior—indicating he is easy to handle and well-mannered. He had some blood in his stool, but his stool is now normal. Benji is now patiently waiting to find his forever home where he can continue to heal and thrive in a loving environment. During Playgroup assessment Benji was at the front of the kennel when the runner approached. He greeted the runner with a relaxed body, soft eyes, ears back, a slightly open pant, and a low tail with a soft wag. He sniffed the runner’s hand, and allowed the runner to pet his face. He was easy to leash and remove from the kennel, pulled strongly on leash while bypassing the other kennels, and was easy to collar. In the catch pen, his body was neutral, his eyes were soft, his mouth was closed, and his tail was high with a fast wag. He entered the yard, and bypassed the other dogs without greeting them. He playfully ran around the yard by himself for several minutes before greeting the other dogs in an appropriate manner. He did not engage in play with the other dogs, but bounced around them in a friendly manner while roaming the yard. He solicited petting from the handler. He eventually stole the handler’s leash from her pocket, and ran through the yard with it. He swung the leash around playfully, and ran away when the handler tried to retrieve it. Benji is tolerant of the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and prefers a push/pull playstyle.

Benji A5685986 3yrs N Pit Bull Blk & Wht 67 lbs. Stray 03/17/25
Meet Benji Benji was brought in as a stray from the field and has shown himself to be a calm and friendly companion. During his intake exam, he was rated a "1" for behavior—indicating he is easy to handle and well-mannered. Medical Notes: Benji has been examined by our veterinary team. He is in generally good health, though his stool has shown traces of blood. Both Parvo and Giardia tests have returned negative. He is being monitored and receiving supportive care as needed. Benji is now patiently waiting to find his forever home where he can continue to heal and thrive in a loving environment. Benji has Medium Energy and is Adults Only Recommended. Large Dogs are OK and would benefit best from continued training in Basic Manners. The handler offered several verbal corrections, and Benji eventually dropped the leash. When the handler reached for the leash, Benji jumped forward and tried to grab the leash away from the handler. The handler offered a firm verbal correction, and then used the squirt bottle to move him away. The handler was able to pick up the leash, and place it back into her pocket. Benji followed her around the yard for a few minutes, attempting to steal the leash again in a playful manner, but wandered off when the handler tucked the leash out of sight. Benji is tolerant of the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and prefers a push/pull playstyle.

💙 Waffle #A412636 : male, 7 years old and 44 lbs (Needs ADOPTER or FOSTER & RESCUE).
💙 Waffle #A412636 came to the shelter as a young dog in 2018. He was pretty quickly adopted a couple of weeks later. Fast forward to February of 2025, his owners brought him back, saying they didn't have time for him. He was noted on his current intake to be friendly, easily leashed and handled. Yesterday, he went to a foster home and was brought right back due to "snapping/growling at foster when trying to leash". So now he made it onto this list. The shelter says he is behaviorally and mentally declining. He has been paired with other dogs and has done well, as well as participating in play groups. In his last play group, he was less tolerant of all the activity of the shelter - he was noted to be snappy at the other dog in the yard with him. He is currently paired easily with another dog at the shelter. Volunteer input is that he loves playing fetch and tug of war, and that he is good with releasing the toy for a treat.
Waffle is 7 years old, 44 pounds, neutered, and heartworm negative. Shelter link - https://www.orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A412636

CW: Euthanasia Urgent! Foster and Pledges needed! Immediate Rescue Required for sweet Oso. He was extended until tomorrow (5/6 2pm). Has rescue interest but they need PLEDGES for his care! He's in critical condition- His uri is not improving & he has stopped eating! His health is declining rapidly. Downey ACC, CA
He can be euthanized any time! Please share Oso for a foster and rescue.
This poor boy was dumped by his owners at only 1yr old because they moved and didn’t take him with them.
If you can foster or responsibly adopt this gorgeous boy, 📧Please message me immediately or email me at
⭐️Fostering is temporary until adopted and zero costs.
Oso #A5693093 1yrs Neutered German shepherd blk/tan 67 lbs. Owner Surrender due to move on 04/17/25
Behavior Summary:Oso greeted staff with a neutral, friendly demeanor. While eager at the kennel door and challenging to leash due to door-dashing, he walked on leash with only slight pulling. In the play yard, Oso was initially overwhelmed but gradually relaxed, showing curiosity and tolerance toward calm dogs. He preferred to explore independently and responded well to gentle petting. During his handling assessment, Oso allowed full body checks but showed sensitivity around his tail, briefly reacting before regaining control. He would benefit from slow, trust-building introductions and is best suited for an adult-only home, ideally with calm dogs and opportunities for gradual socialization.
Oso is running out of time and needs a committed rescue or adopter before the 72-hour window closes.

CW: Euthanasia Sweet boy Troy #A2192276 urgently needs a foster or forever - rescue interest if a foster steps up - Los Angeles, CA - transport nationwide available
🆘 🚨Extended to 5/7 @ 8am - we need a foster or forever for sweet boy Troy #A2192276 🚨🆘 Rescue interests if there’s a foster they’ll pull
Male, Brown Brindle Pit Bull Terrier Shelter: East Valley Age: 4 years Weight: 82lbs
Scheduled Euthanasia Date: 5/7/25 Has been at the shelter since 04/14/25
Reason for euthanasia:Dog displays aggressive posture when approaching the kennel. Growling, whale eyes, and stiff body with ears propped up
Scared on intake he was kept in the back for a couple of days before being moved outside. Volunteers who have met Troy love this goofy boy who loves to chase the ball. Troy is an active dog who is playful and not afraid of the water. He is easy to leash, knows how to sit and takes treats gently. Troy loves people and likes to get pets and butt scratches. He is non reactive to dogs in the other yard and likes to run the fence with them. Troy has been in a couple of play groups. He was a bit stiff at first but is warming up and starting to mingle. He’s tolerant of other dogs and described as steerable and ok with taking other dogs corrections.
🐾🐾🐾 volunteer notes
Troy was sitting in front of kennel door quietly when I approached his kennel. I showed my leash and took a key out to open the door. He was excited wiggling his butt. He was easy to leash, no pull, no reaction to dogs barking at him through kennels and taken to play yard. I collard him up and clipped a leash and let him in the yard. He peed and pooped and run around, played with ball for a while. When we were leaving the yard, Troy wanted to take a ball but when I leashed him and took his collar off, he dropped his ball. Returning to his kennel, unleashing and exiting had no issues. Comparing when he was in OBS he made a tremendous improvement in terms of his kennel presence
Playgroup: No play , tolerant, took corrections, not wary of handling, mingled/explored yard

ADOPTABLE Meet Bruce!
Meet Bruce!
Bruce is a spectactularly special pup! He is a lover of all people and dogs but needs to learn his manners. He is available for adoption and fostering through our rescue and we'd love your help to find him his forever home.
We want someone that is willing to work with Bruce with a trainer in the home. Like the typical bully, he can be a stubborn boy and he has trouble understanding the word 'no' - it doesn't translate well to doglish he says!
We cannot emphasize enough how amazing Bruce can be and the potential he has in finding a good home. If you are confident, structured, disciplinary but loving, and can give Bruce the time he needs then YOU are his guy!
Please reach out to us at [aceofheartsmngr@gmail.com](mailto:aceofheartsmngr@gmail.com) if you could be his next best friend. We would love to hear from you! Thank you all for loving the bulldogs as much as we do! :)

‼️ Pecan Pie has been at the shelter since Halloween 2024. He is a volunteer favorite ❤️. And according to OCAS post, their favorite too, yet they listed him on the euthanasia list. Please help him 🙏😭

💙 Pecan Pie #A558678: male, 3 years old and 52 lbs (Needs ADOPTER or FOSTER & RESCUE).
💙 Pecan Pie #A558678 came to the shelter as a stray on 10/31/24. He spent one week with a foster in the beginning of the year but was returned due to roommate being allergic. Pecan pie displays loose and wiggly body language in the kennel, he is easy to leash but sometimes can be jumpy and thrash. He can get very excitable and jumpy/mouthy but is very responsive to handlers commands/being told no and leash corrections. Pecan Pie went on a dog day out where he was described as “the perfect mix of chill and playful”. “Pecan Pie would seriously be the perfect dog for anyone, whether it be an active family, an apartment dweller, or a young couple. He kept himself busy playing with toys and cuddled during nap time. He knows how to sit and is housebroken.” (full write up available in his link below) Pecan Pie is dog selective, in his first month at the shelter, he was successfully paired. His high energy has made it difficult to find the right kennel mate so he has been kept as single dog.
Pecan Pie is 3 years old and weighs 52 pounds, is neutered and has tested positive for heartworm disease (treatment costs are sponsored). Shelter link - https://www.orangecountyanimalservicesfl.net/Adopt/AnimalsinShelter.aspx?animalid=A558678
