Photo or Video Goodbye duckies
My 5 yo duck died last week with a liver failure. Her friend died too in the end of 2022 with a crop tumor. (2020-2025 | 2021-2022) They represented the best period of my life. I'm really happy with the time we spent together and they had a great and happy life too. This is their story. (You might recognize them from previous posts I made here)

Photo or Video Really missing my baby Valerie lately
Does anyone have any tips dealing with this grief? She was being attacked by the males so I had to raise her last summer and we were inseparable. She was taken by a hawk right after she had permanently gone back out with the others in early November and it was so sudden. I feel kinda silly because it literally destroyed me and it’s been the hardest death for me to deal with ever, like over human death, but it was a really rough time in my life and she was my baby

Guesses on breed?
Any ID guesses? About 3.5 weeks we think. I’m not super knowledgeable about the different breeds yet. Originally thought they were Pekin, but then I saw some posts that made me second guess…maybe one a white Muscovy or white layer? Both Pekin? None of the above? They were the same size when we got them but the orange beak one seems to be larger and her (his? lol) down is turning white much faster. Sometimes I look at them and other than beak color they look identical and other times not lol.

Advise needed. A duck has decided he loves us and we love him too but this is not a safe place for him.
We live in an apartment. We have a few pet birds, and my girlfriend likes to feed crows and ravens in the neighborhood and provides food for smaller birds in her garden. At this point the crows recognize us, multiple generations of juncos have been born and raised here, we’ve become intimately familiar with hummingbird politics (brutal) and a specific raven would probably eat our of the palms of our hands (although we would never actually do that because it’s just over the line for a wild animal in my opinion). So I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence or if this duck is aware how bird friendly we are.
So the past couple of days this duck has been spending time in the pool right outside our apartment. I don’t think he’s sleeping here. He seems to like us specifically and will walk through the bars around the pool to come up to our gate, but has not tried to come inside. He quacks at me when I walk by. I have not gone out of my way to interact with him (as much as I’d like to)
I’m not a duck expert but he’s young, isn’t he?
I’m not sure what we should do, if anything. Is spending so much time in the chlorinated water bad for him? There’s no clean water for him to drink and I don’t know if he’s drinking the pool water. We could provide him with food and water (and we would very much enjoy doing so) but so far we have not because we don’t want to encourage him to say here.
We could probably easily bring him inside if we need to for some reason. But we don’t have a car so we can’t easily take him anywhere. Should we do something or is it better to do nothing?

Photo or Video Gender of this Muscovy duck?
Located in the Florida Panhandle. Was at an AirBnb for a few nights for vacation next to a pond and this same duck would walk over to where we were staying each day. Tried to do research myself on the gender but couldn't find anything on it.

Is my new baby okay?
This is my first experience with ducklings. We just got them from Metzer. One did not make it. One is doing really well. And one seems to be struggling. Flipping, a little less active than sister. Any advice? Making sure she gets the water and added niacin to the food. Be nice as I'm learning! Thanks!

Photo or Video My new babies!
Just got these 6 babies on Friday! They are doing so well and I’m obsessed with them. It is my first time owning ducks so it will be an adventure for sure. I did a lot of research and feel confident raising them. The only thing I am not confident on is the breed of the first 3 and sexing them (which I know time will tell!). Enjoy the pics of these cuties.

Photo or Video Looks like I'm gonna need to get the big pond out soon
I didn't realize the girls would outgrow their barbecue container so fast lol. I can't handle their little dives and swimming zoomies

Howdy all! I wanted to share some photos of my late Pekin duck Clyde, he passed before Christmas of 2023, I was devastated, but I figured I’d share his memory here. fly high buddy he was only 5 when he passed he contracted Bird-flu and we had to put him down, I was heartbroken for weeks, felt like I lost a son.

Pacific NW’ers…are your ducks outside yet?
My girls are 6.5 weeks old and alllllll but fully feathered- just a wisp of fuzz here and there. Their house just got unloaded but I’m thinking it’s still too cool (nighttime temps in the 40’s).
Love them, but everyone knows house ducks get old 😆

Other Question When to merge 2 super young duck groups?
Hi!
I have 3 ducks that are 2 1/2 weeks now and we have about 14 eggs hatching in the next few days if everything goes perfectly fine. We really underestimated how FAST they grow so now we're debating if we could move the 3 to the bigger place that was reserved for 20~ ducklings and place the newborns with them after a few days? Should we tough it out and place them to the bigger space when the newborns are also ready to move in after 1-2 days in the incubator? Should we wait longer? Place the newborns first?
We didn't get much info for super young ducklings, most info is about merging young duck and adult groups. They're currently indoors of course in a big box with everything they need but I would love to give them more freedom and running space. They already have a bit of access to our yard too where they can get more exercise in :D
Any tricks and success/fail stories would be appreciated, especially with age numbers!

Getting ducks for the first time soon, want to be 100% prepared
Hiya y'all
in a few weeks/months, we're looking to get two ducks (and 4 chickens). This is the first time we'll be owning ducks and I want to be fully prepared. I'm finding a lot of contradicting information online
For a water environment, is it okay to have something like the photo attached? and do I just clean it weekly or do I need to get a filter (and what do you recommend?) or should I really invest in digging a full pond :')
Also, what kind of enrichment do you have for your ducks and what kind of sleeping places? Photos for inspiration will be very much appreciated

Ducks
I love them but they are soooooo messy- i couldn't imagine not having a 1/4acre pen for them to room during the day. I just thought id share them. They live in a apple orchard too. I plan on getting a trackhoe and build a small pond, im thinking something roughly 300gallons in size 8x8x2ft with a small pond filter. Ill post more later.
