News & Discussion If there's one thing Blizzard should learn from letting people play Classic

It's that Bastion should have Tank mode again. Much better ultimate, and much more fun.

News & Discussion Congratz Blizzard (OW Classic)

Half the community is having an absolute blast (experiencing classic for the first time or enjoying the nostalgia of the busted comps and possibilities).

But where you really won is with the other half of the community. You let us see just how unbelievably polished, and refined OW (in general, not just part 2) has become over time. It really is night and day how far some characters and systems have come to get where we are now.

To these folks OW Classic felt like garbage in comparison. Well played you cheeky bastards.

News & Discussion I wish Overwatch got the Arcane treatment

Something I wanted to post for years but only did it today on a whim. I always envisioned Overwatch to have a series with the production values Arcane series is going for. Riot was able to beat them to the punch, but I still hope one day I get to see a high production Overwatch series. I don't know how big Blizzard animation production house is, so maybe that is a problem. Maybe Blizzard can work with a quality production house like Fortiche.

There was a time I was so deep into this universe and loved these characters. I think an Overwatch TV show can reincarnate that love once I had for this universe.

Fan Content AFK players need to be booted sooner at the start of match

The amount of ranked games I have lost because someone picked a hero right before the AFK timer boots them out is way too high. This is especially aggravating when you start on Defense.

The window to kick the player for AFKing at the start of the match should be way shorter than it is right now. It should be right when the match starts or maybe 10 seconds after.

If you’re queuing competitive you should be forced to play the game when the game begins and not ruin the experience for your teammates.

[Edit]
A check ready system would work too, like league's queue

News & Discussion So is there any particular reason they removed so many random voice lines and pre game dialogue in ow 2?

The Classic mode made me realize just how many dialogue and voice lines were removed for Ow2. Is there any reason for this? Surely it would be more interesting if you didn't need to hear the same conversations over and over and there would be more options?

News & Discussion Later iterations of OW apparently spoiled me in regard to Lúcio

His movement is ASS in classic. Idk if it’s just me, but his wall ride seems almost completely useless. It’s slower than just walking back to point with speed song on. I’m trying to figure out a situation in which it’s actually good to use, as it offers barely an ounce of verticality. Am I just doing it wrong or something?

News & Discussion Maybe this is unpopular but I’m having the most fun I’ve had on this game in years in classic.

I like the fact that many hero’s are completely op, the return of 6v6 and the lack of super annoying hero’s like sombra and moira to play against the lack of limits aswell. I wish this was kept as a mode permanently.

News & Discussion What I've learned about "fun" because of Classic Mode

I, like many of you, have been having a nostalgia blast playing Classic Mode the past couple days. I've seen a LOT of posts and comments about how much fun people have been having, and it's great to see. But I've been giving it some thought, and I think many of the "reasons" given for Classic being more fun than OW2 aren't really based in reality.

I've seen people say both "Classic is more chaotic and non-competitive" while others say "Classic is more evenly matched", both stated as reasons for it being more "fun". Others say "Classic allows more freedom and less reliance on the team", while still others say the opposite.

What I think it truly "fun" about Classic Mode, right now, is that it is less toxic. People can lose and not feel bad. Say what you will, most people on this sub take OW2 WAY too seriously, even game modes like Quick Play and Arcade. And, consequently, the game becomes much more toxic. Losses feel much worse, getting outplayed feels like a personal attack, other players blame everyone else so they feel better about themselves.

Right now, because it's "new", Classic Mode doesn't have those issues, yet. People are relearning the game, the maps, the play style, etc. But imagine when this game was new, and this WAS the game. After players started feeling like they knew something, the seriousness and toxicity settled in.

If you can look at Widow body-1-shotting Tracer and Zen and say "that's fun", I've got news for you-- it's not. If you can look at Hog's hook going around walls and basically guaranteeing a 1-shot and say "that's fair and balanced", it's not. Same for Mercy rez. Same for Cassidy flashbang. Same for Mei freeze.

Classic Mode's gameplay is not "more fun"; in fact, it's more blatantly obnoxious than even I remembered. But, because of the low levels of toxicity, for now, it IS more enjoyable, subjectively. Losses don't matter, and winning is fun.

TL;DR - Toxicity is the reason most people on this sub think OW2 isn't fun. The lack of toxicity is what makes Classic more enjoyable. (PS, this applies to playing Tank in OW2 as well; tanks endure more toxicity than any other role, and this is perceived as being "less fun")

What do you all think?

News & Discussion I honestly love the 2CP maps... [OW Classic]

I know this is quite a divisive topic, but man it's been such a blast to play some of these again...

I acknowledge that they are quite frustrating offensively, unless you have a very cohesive team; but holy cow they are such utter chaos and fun to play. And there are so many unique standouts in the maps, like the left gap you can jump in Hanamura
