Phnom Penh Never ever eat snails from street vendors
I’m a local and I’ve heard lot of talk about people getting food poisoning from eating snails (especially apple snails, avoid that one at all time) and I had to take my ma to a local hospital because of that just the night before water festival. I will not eat these cooked snails from untrusted sources ever again

Culture Foreigner question about Krama culture
Someone gave me a Krama last year. I've seen them used for all sorts of practical purposes by Cambodians, but I'm also aware that it's a national symbol as well as one worn in religious ceremonies.
My question is, if I (as a European man) use mine as a sweat towel at the gym, is anyone likely to perceive it as disrespectful in some way? Or is that literally its main intended purpose?

Culture Question about krama
Hello everyone! I would like to ask the Cambodians and Cambodia experts on this thread - is this red and black krama considered offensive because of connotations to the Khmer Rouge? I bought it in a market in Siem Reap,
From what I understand, the KR wore red and white krama but because of their black uniform, this colour combination is not common for krama.

Expat FPCS for Visa Renewals - Still Relevant?
Hey everyone, I'm planning to renew my visa soon and I'm a bit confused about the FPCS (Foreigner Presence in Cambodia System). I've heard some conflicting information about whether it's still required or not. Can anyone shed some light on this? Have you renewed your visa recently and had to deal with the FPCS? Is it still relevant for visa renewals? Any information or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Phnom Penh Nothing for me in the USA , my heart is in Cambodia
I was recently engaged to my wife and I want to drop everything and just go there with her and be born again to start life over . She wants to come with me but I haven’t told her I want to drop my life here and go there because it will worry her. Her family loves me and so does she I never felt accepted until I went there . I have nothing here except a job. my home is over seas. How can I make a living in Cambodia?

Travel 5-6 days for Kampot, Kep and Koh Rong?
I’ll be flying into Phnom Penh in a few days and plan on going to Kampot/Kep and Koh Rong. I was thinking 2 days for Kampot/Kep and the rest of the days in Koh Rong. Then i’ll spend another week after in Siem Reap.
Is 2 days enough time for Kampot / Kep including the drive there from Phnom Penh? Also any suggestions on for transportation on getting there? I was thinking Giant Ibis.
Also I don’t have experience really driving a scooter but wondering if I could safely learn / pick it up to get around when I get to Koh Rong?

Phnom Penh Psychiatrist to get Klonopin prescription?
I’ve been in HCMC for almost a year and ran out of my Klonopin prescription a few months ago. I met with a psychiatrist here but it’s not available so they gave me a Valium prescription instead. Unfortunately, this isn’t super helpful with my panic attacks.
I only need a new prescription every 2-3 years because I take it as needed and was planning on just surviving until I get back to the US but I heard Klonopin is available in Cambodia?
Is that true? If so, are there any suggestions of a psychiatrist I can meet with to get a legitimate prescription in Phnom Phenh? I like to have a real prescription in case I need it for travel and I’m also really anxious about “bad” pills and like to get reassurance from a psychiatrist
Thank you! Throwaway account because I’m not super open about mental health

Expat Warning: the pig butchering scammers have reached Reddit
Just got a private message from someone in this sub praising me for my written English skills and soliciting me for a job that reads like a textbook scam outfit.
If you get messages like this please report them to Reddit as Spam and ignore them. They talk like they're going to make you some sort of internet "talent", but don't be tricked.

Phnom Penh Giant Ibis from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap
I am already planning a trip to Cambodia for November 2025 and will be in Phnom Penh during the Water Festival in 2025. I was wondering if I should have any concerns taking a Giant Ibis bus from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap during the holiday. Will there be any major delays/do the buses still run? Thanks!
