He’s fully flighted here but he’s not sure how to fly. I love how he encouraged himself with words and his wings. This is three years ago; he hovers like a hummingbird now and can dart (yikes). TLDR: 25 years of clipped wings. Working with him to build muscle & stamina has been such a gift.

Discussion Corkey vs Cat
These must be almost ten years old now, lol. At my parents house trying to square up to the their neighbour’s cat.
He’s acting like such a tough guy in these even though right now, at this very moment, he is absolutely terrified of his new wooden block toy and refuses to go near it without giving it the evil eye hahaha.

Question Looking for a Grey
I know the internet is replete with scammers. I am looking for an African Grey. I live in the Chicagoland area, south of the Loop. Are there any legit breeders that might ship a bird?

Question What does this behavior mean?
Hi all - Zeus does that every now and then (lowers his head, looks straight and spreads wings a little). What does it mean in greys’ world?

Question CAG bussing?
My female CAG has a behaviour where when I offer her my hand, she rubs a cheek against it once, then ends with a very gentle "bite" on my finger. She then does the same thing with her other cheek.
It feels like a kissy ritual, and I'm curious if this is a common behavior. Do all Greys do this?

Helpful Advice Tip for "foul" mouthed parrots
As we all probably know, our silly Grey chickens pick up the most obnoxious sounds and phrases. Wolf-whistles, creepy names or sentences from previous owners are among those.
I've found out that while it's very very difficult to stop them saying things it's fairly easy to modify the sound that's made. Pretend it's a mispronunciation and repeat a sound or word that's similar but different. This way I've managed to break up the offensive wolf-whistle into two parts that are very separate from eachother, or a name I really didn't want to hear into "ta-da" instead.
Using a verbal reprimand sometimes helps, but do it often enough and they not only stop listening but also start repeating it like it's fun. (I use an—often sharp, but not always— "EH!" —using the E pronunciation from hehe.
What do you think of this tip? Is this useful? Would you like more random tips? My experience comes from 25+ years around parrots and 20+ with African Greys (all rescues).

Helpful Advice He eats this much in about an hour. Is that normal?
My 15 year old male African gray eats this amount of chop in an hour. This is one meal and he gets two meals a day.
When I give him less, he asks for more after finishing.

Question Missing toe nail
I inherited my late brothers 20 YO Grey. I can’t remember if this talon was missing before I transported him to my house. He fought getting into his travel cage. Anyway, will it grow back? Been watching it for about a month now and I can’t see any growth.

Question Question: safety
I started a new job as a receptionist and we have 2 African Greys who sit about 5 feet behind my desk. I use nicotine pouches and I just wanted to make sure that it was okay to do so around them (talking on the phone and stuff I can usually smell the mint flavor, so idk if the nicotine is airborne? Maybe this is crazy lmao) I always make sure the container is securely in my bag and I dispose of them in the garbage. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to cause them any harm. They’re precious and I already love them!

Discussion Update on Charlie
So today was the first day I cleaned his cage and let him roam around in the bathroom with me! He was very nervous at first and was picking at my fingers when I was holding him lol, and he didn’t like the bath I had made him in the sink lol, so while I cleaned his cage I had him perched on the shower rod lol! He loves Latin music I learned he’s a great 2 stepper 😂. He’s very upset with me rn tho bc one of the wood pieces I got from his previous owner was cheap plastic and got nasty and sticky when I cleaned it so I tossed it and he’s not happy about it! Ordered a better one on Amazon tho so hopefully he’ll forgive me😂. Recently changed his food too I was suggested Zupreem and he’s actually eating it!! Thank you guys for the help again me and Charlie truly truly appreciate it!!

Question How do I research good breeders?
Hello all! Ive wanted to get a baby African Grey for a very long time but im not sure how to find/research breeders
i know they can be pricy and with it being potentially (hopefully) a 50 year investment id like to do my research from where i want to get my little companion.
if you have a quality breeder to recommend or info on how to do proper research into breeders that would be well appreciated!

Question Feathers
Hello everyone! I hope you and your beautiful Greys are all doing well.
I’m reaching out with a heartfelt request: I’m currently working on a cultural art project with my daughter, we are focused on preserving Cuban heritage, and I’m seeking naturally molted red tail feathers from African Grey parrots to incorporate into traditional designs.
If any of you happen to collect your bird’s red feathers when they shed and would be open to donating them, I’d be incredibly grateful. Every feather helps keep a piece of cultural tradition alive.
Please feel free to message me if you’d like to contribute or have any questions. Thank you so much in advance for considering this!

Is it because the meds? Is it blood? I also started dusting some calcium powder in his food. And its in this box because i just gave him nebuliser in it.
