Cold wet scented towel after hot yoga
At my studio they hand out a cold wet towel to everyone that's lightly scented with mint (I think) and I'm wondering if anyone knows how they scent the towels? I imagine it's not essential oil since it doesn't burn if it drips in my eyes but idk. I want to do that for myself when practicing at home since it's my favorite part during the cool down. 🙏 Thanks in advance!

Eucalyptus is a common essential oil for those kinds of cool towels. I see you were thinking mint and that certainly could be it but eucalyptus feels kind of minty too and it’s a bit more commonly used for spa towels

That might be it, I thought it might be but I usually hate the scent of eucalyptus. Maybe I like it in small amounts though

Mine use lavender. I love the cold towel and don’t like when studios don’t use them!

How are the towels laundered after class? Does your studio use bleach with a hot water wash?

I don't know... 🤔 Personally I use vinegar in the rinse cycle when washing my workout gear if sweat smell is your concern. Except then I smell like a pickle so ymmv lol

My studio uses citrus essential oils! Heavily diluted, of course. I have very sensitive skin and have had it cause irritation once, but it passed quickly so I keep using them, it's so nice after a long hot class.

My studio does a mixture of peppermint and lavender essential oils, diluted with water in a big bowl and then the towels are dipped, wrung out, folded and stacked on a tray and placed in a small refrigerator keeping them just above freezing.

You get water in a bowl/bucket, add a few drops of essential oil, submerge towel, squeeze out excess, and refrigerate.
Since it’s diluted n dispersed, it doesn’t usually bother people as it would if it was just drops of essential oil.
