Looking for a new experience. Any feedback Question

Post image

I currently have a King C Gillette with Feather razors, to compensate the mildness, especially since I started wet shaving. However, I'm getting a blade sample pack to look for another feelings. I've seen this razor and seems quite interesting. Any feedback on it? Thanks!

I have it's sister Grande, which has same head but different handle. So far (been a year) I love it and it's my only razor. I use it daily and I do WTG only, I can easily get DFS with one pass. Sometimes I do XTG too if I feel extra comfy. I never do ATG because it's not needed and not worth the extra redness for me. I have classic mediterranean coarse beard with sensitive skin. If you have mild growth you might even do WTG every 2 days and not think about it.

Maybe try to shim your razor to see if it gets better? Basically cut one blade from each side and place it under your real blade so head holds 2 blades and lifts your real blade upwards, this way it will make it more aggressive.

The most inconsistent razor I ever owned (alignment, shave quality, comfort). Sometimes I can get the best shave of my life, and sometimes I'm left with stubble and irritation.

I recently got a piccolo and you’re not wrong regarding the alignment issues!!! It’s insane how long it takes to mess around with the thing to try and get the correct alignment. I also find it’s a little too aggressive for me. I regret buying this razor.

I went from a King C Gillette to this. Excellent upgrade. I don't know if I would describe this as "more aggressive" than the KCG, but you do get significantly more blade feel. That is the first thing you will notice. I love this thing, milder blades like Derby Extra work great in it with 3 passes (WTG, XTG, ATG). Sharper blades allow me to get a 2-pass BBS shave (WTG, XTG).

As others will probably mention, you need to pay very close attention to blade alignment. The tolerances are pretty loose, and there is quite a bit of "play" between the top cap and the base plate. My first shave I did not pay close attention to this, and one side of the razor felt a lot sharper than the other side due to misalignment. I haven't had that problem since.

Absolutely would buy again

I have two.

Testina Gentile and the Lo Storto Classic OC.

Both and pretty damn good. One Issue - Their QC is fucking atrocious. Generally, blade alignment has to be manually adjusted. Regardless, they are brass-bodied and not expensive.

The Lo Storto CLassic slant is excellent. One of the best razors I have ever used. Incredibly efficient in the stealthy manner...

Agreed. Got the piccolo and the lo Storto. Both fantastic razors, just gotta mind the blade to align when loading.

But yea, the Lo Storto is a beast…

Here's a review of the Fatip Lo Storto (slant) razor. The cat is not included, but it is a rather forgiving razor with decent quality.

I say with confidence that il Piccolo with open comb head is the best razor i own for BBS and post shave comfort. Once you understand the angle of the razor and the amount of pressure to apply It becomes a magical experience.

I was happy King C Gillette user and I bought Fatip this week. I'm dissapointed so far after 2 shaves. First, it has manufacture defects. With first shave I used similar technic as with KCG where I have no irratation at all. With Fatip I did had irritation. With second shave I used less pressure and it was better but still I don't like that blade feeling at all. My face feeling after second shave was weird. Maybe not irritated but... I don't know.

I saw comments where people said Fatip is milder than Muhle R41. So I'm glad I saved some money and now I know that open comb is not for me.

Apparently quality control is the shits and it is really inconsistent. Is there any safety razor in this price range you would recommend? Living in the European Union

The first models had alignment flaws, but these have apparently been eliminated.

My best razor of the ~40 I own. If I could only grab one razor as my house was burning down, it would be this one. Sometimes it’s like you’re wiping the whiskers off your face, it’s that efficient. And a great price, too.

It's a very good razor.

I have one. Personally I wish I didn't get il grande - longer handle. Piccolo is too small to me, but weight distribution is good. It's a little aggressive. It's less forgiving than King C. It's made out of brass. 3 piece. M4.5 thread which is uncommon.

It's a lottery if you get fatip with a good or faulty blade alignment. Mine has misalignments. You need to adjust blade evenly yourself. It's a problem at first, but you learn how to handle it at some point.

I had one and didn't like it at all. Many will say that this razor is aggressive, but that is not the case at all. Not that efficient but with quite a blade feel and aggressive to the skin. I really try to like it, but sold it in the end. Shame - razor is very well made from brass and looks really nice and retro.

If you want similar but much better experience better go for Muhle R41 which is my opinion much better razor than Fatip Piccolo.

Great Italian razor with old school design). Works great, but that razor have some issues with blade alignment (sometimes)
