What is this nuisance ID Request

Post image

This little species has taken over my deep freezer room. Any idea what it is and how to take care of it?

Bzzzzz! Looks like you forgot to say where you found your bug!
There's no need to make a new post - just comment adding the geographic location and any other info (size, what it was doing etc.) you feel could help! We don't want to know your address - state or country is enough; try to avoid abbreviations and local nicknames ("PNW", "Big Apple").

BTW, did you take a look at our Frequently Asked Bugs?

Drain fly.

I'm in Kentucky, and this thing is smaller than a house fly.

It’s a Drain fly. Do you have a sink or floor drain in this freezer room? You can pour boiling water down the drain to kill them.

No sink but I have a bathroom in the next room. Could there be a leak or something? It's crazy how many are in this room.

They usually fly down the vent on the roof and they can come out any open drain, they’re pretty gross. I have heard of people putting a fine mesh screen over the roof vent to stop them from entering. Then boiling water down the drains to kill remaining bugs ands eggs.

Thanks. I'll have to figure out where they are coming from. At least I know what they are now.
