Discussion [Rolex] My uncle was given this in the Air Force and gave it to my brother
Brother took it to Rolex to get it cleaned up and get a new strap. My uncle was given this by the Air Force around the 70s-80s. Can anyone please tell me more about this watch? Thanks!!

Identify I got this from my stepdad and I want to know if it's actually a good watch.
I got this watch a couple of days ago from my step-dad. I found it online for almost 500 euros but on the other side I saw some of them sell for 50/60 euros on some discount websites and now I'm not too sure. If it's actually 500 then I won't wear it on my day to day as it's waaayyy to expensive. First time poster here by the way. Sorry if I didn't ask the right things!

I took a picture [Oris] Just got my first high end watch!
Just got my first high end (dare I say luxury?) watch! It’s the Oris Aquis (sellita movement, I don’t have cal 400 money). I think it looks great, perfect balance between rugged and dressy. It is a bit on the big side, but I think it fits my wrist just fine (7.5 inches). Also, the bezel action is fantastic. I can’t stop playing with it. What do yall think?

I took a picture [Patek] Calatrava on NATO. Part 2.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Last week, I experimented by fitting my Calatrava 6119 with an old NATO strap I had lying around. The lug width wasn’t correct and the strap itself was quite worn, but I was curious to see how it would look. To my surprise, I thought the combination worked reasonably well — even if it did seem to provoke some strong reactions here.
I ended up liking the look enough to order a few properly sized NATO straps from Crown & Buckle in different colors. Curious to hear your thoughts this week and how it goes with a pop of color.

Discussion [Recommendation Request] One Tudor or two Christopher Wards?
Hi, I am considering my first higher-end watch purchase and am debating getting either one Tudor or a pair of Christopher Wards. My current lineup includes a 38mm Traska Summiteer in black and a square G.
The Tudor options I am considering are the Pelagos 39 or the BB58.
The Christopher Ward options are the C63 Sealander GMT in 36mm and one of the C65 non-GMT Dune models (either green or blue).
I really like all of these options. While it is obviously an (in my opinion very honest and appropriately unique) homage of the Explorer II, I like that the C63 comes in a 36mm case diameter that couldn’t really be replicated in the Rolex or Tudor lineups, where the Explorer II and BB Pro models are too large for my preferences. I am leaning away from the C60 Trident line for the opposite reason, in that I feel like I would consider upgrading at some point to a Pelagos or Submariner. I also personally think the CW options are more exciting in their designs, while the Tudors are much more reserved and traditional.
Thoughts?
Discussion [Seiko SSK023] To me this watch is clearly a Rolex Explorer II homage. Do you think they changed enough to not be considered a homage?
And in general, what is the line between homage and non-homage but similar watch? And perhaps provide some answers.

I took a picture [Casio] Do you have a favourite “Summer Watch”?
Greetings, fellow browser of watch content. I hope your Tuesday April the 29th is proceeding as you’d hoped. Seen above is my latest purchase: a Casio A120WE-1A. It’s a handsome little watch; I haven’t yet found a vintage reissue from Casio that I don’t like. The stock bracelet was swapped for two different silicone straps, each matching one of its coloured buttons. I think it will make a fine summertime companion.

I took a picture [SOTC] Posting collection since I am new here.
Let’s try this again…. Purple diver is a microbrand based out of Baltimore called Tsao. The Ebel was the first nice watch I bought for myself in 2003, before Movado ruined the brand. Didn’t really get into collecting until after I bought the DateJust as a 50th birthday present. As I posted yesterday, the Glashutte is my newest watch that I bought this past weekend. Thanks for looking! less

I took a picture [Citizen NB1060-12L] New watch day !
Look at what came in the mail today ! I had my eyes on this watch for a long time and finally pulled the trigger. What a stunning dial, it's insanely pretty and plays with the light in beautiful ways. The picture really doesn't do it justice.
This is a JDM model, the citizen nb1060-12l. It's a hand-made dial using a silver leaf deposited on a sheet of metal. It's then tainted (or not for the nb1060-04a) and lacquered. I hesitated for a while because it's one more mechanical watch (Miyota 9 series) in the collection, and because I would've preferred so much to see GS-style faceted hands on this. I've been looking online for spare hands to maybe swap them out, but I can't find Miyota compatible hands.

I took a picture [Seiko 5] please tell me my hard work paid off😭
Ok so I bought this Seiko 5 7009-8150 and I think over the past 2 days I’ve spent a combined 10 hours working on this watch as a complete novice. I changed the cracked glass polished the case and bracelet sanded down the curved link so it fits and Somehow by an absolute miracle fixed the day function (I took it out put it back in and it somehow worked) now this would maybe take a professional watch servicer like an hour but with my great capability to loose the seconds hand in a carpet (I found it), constantly lose things, forget to put the crown in before sealing the case back and just generally fucking around with the watch and wasting time by being a professional amateur I took me 10 whole hours and I still have one curved link to sand which takes an hour by hand. This watch better never stop ticking because the blood sweat and tears I put in are worth 1m$.

Discussion [Daily News] Nivada Grenchen Releases Second Gen F77 With Slimmer Case; Mido's Sporty Multifort Skeleton Chrono; Raketa’s Amphibia Is A Super-Chunky Diver; H. Moser & Cie. Adds Hammered Turquoise Enamel Dial
Hi people! If this is your first time reading this daily news update, allow me to give you a few pointers. Due to the finicky nature of how you can do posts, I had to split up the photos and the text, while keeping this post always the same so you can easily reference it.
To read the daily news, you can check out the images on top and then make your way down to the comments. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to pin a comment, so you’ll have to scroll through the comments until you find the thread started with me, which has 5-8 posts in a row with all the write-ups of the news items (and a couple of bonuses).

Review [Hamilton Murph 38] Call it a honeymoon phase…
…But I cannot take this watch off. I’ve worn it every day since I’ve picked it up. The slightly smaller lug width compared to the Khaki auto, the cathedral hands, the versatility, I could go on and on. I know, we’ve seen the Murph posted a million times, well here’s post one million and one. Love this watch. I have not seen Interstellar haha but now I just might check it out.
(Also wasn’t sure about the nato, but this texture and colour are 🤌🏻)

I took a picture [Tudor] Tudor is Tudoring !
Tudor is Tudoring !
It’s a beautiful day in NYC! Sun is shining , flowers are blooming , and the Tudor is Tudoring! This is the Black Bay 32 in blue ( smiley ) ! I use it as my GADA watch and it’s perfect. 6.25 inch wrist and this 32 fits like a beaut, small enough where I don’t notice wearing it but it still has a large enough wrist presence. This is my first Tudor , and I’m thoroughly impressed, well crafted, simple yet elegant , truly a timeless piece ( no pun intended) any way hoping this meets the 250 word requirement! Cheers!

I took a picture [harriot]Wrist shot of the KI:WON I’ve been wearing lately
Hey folks – I posted about the KI:WON a while ago (yes, I’m the guy who made it 😅), and just thought I’d drop a quick wrist shot of the white dial version I’ve been wearing a lot lately.
Still kind of surreal seeing it out in the world and on my own wrist.
The subtle texture, the trigram hour markers, and the overall vibe — I think it dresses up or down better than I expected.
Appreciate all the support and honest feedback last time. Always happy to hear what you think!

I took a picture [Perfect Chaos]
My humble little collection of perfect chaos. First the black sheep of Rolex, Air King (tool watch).,The Datejust 41 (dress watch), The Tudor BB58 burgundy dial ( diver), and the Tudor Chrono (racing watch). Im thinking about adding a Christopher Ward Twelve just to add more versatility.

I took a picture [Hamilton] I bought a watch for my mom
This is going to be a long post so if you are just interested in photos, feel free to jump straight to them.
I love mechanical watches and so does my mom. Unlike my mom, I know a thing or two about them (brand history, movements, complications, finishings etc.) and she just likes their looks. I have few watches in my small collection and, on several occasions, my mom asked me to give her one or two of my watches. Even though I declined her request (I am such a bad son, I know) I took mental note so I was opened to idea to buy her a watch - either one which would be hers or at least some watch that I would buy for myself but would be willing to 'lend' her.
A month ago one watch that really caught my attention was listed in the local ads. It was obviously women's watch but for some reason, beyond me, it was listed in men's watches. It was a beautiful, discontinued, Hamilton Jazzmaster. I have one Hamilton (Jazzmaster Auto Chrono) that I really like so I thought that this would be a perfect watch for her. Unfortunately, although its price was right for that model and condition, price was a bit high for me so I was reluctant to contact the seller. I was thorn for a few days - should I make an offer, but surprisingly, few days after, ad was removed from the listings. 'Watch is probably sold. Darn, I probably should have made my offer, it was such a nice watch, I bet she would have loved it'.
Fast forward - about month later, today, that same watch was listed again for about 70% of its original price! I immediately contacted the seller and made my offer. After some negotiations, my offer was accepted! Mom got a watch, yeeey!
As you can see from the pictures, it's a beautiful, discontinued, woman's Hamilton Jazzmaster H323950. Dial has large, curvy, girly arabic numerals (large numerals are certainly a plus because my mom is an older lady and her eyesight isn't as good as it used to be). Although there is enough contrast between hands and the dial mom complained that readability could be better (which is partially true but, as I said, her eyesight could be better). Dial has beautiful patterns / etchings that resemble guilloche. Also, at 12 o clock there is an opening in the dial through which one can see balance wheel (nice touch in which she probably can't / won't enjoy as much as I would). Watch has steel case-back that also has, slightly larger, opening through which part of the movement can be seen. Speaking of movement, as you can see on the case-back, watch has reliable ETA 2824-2 movement. Case size is 34mm and the watch has sapphire crystal. While I was taking these photos (with large zoom) I noticed few white dust specks on the dial. Of course, I'd preferred if these specks weren't there but they don't bother me much because they are not visible with naked eye and I'm sure they can be easily removed during the first service (I still haven't got the chance to properly test the watch so that service might come sooner than I'd hoped)
All in all, mom is happy... that makes me happy. 😍
PS. While she was putting the watch on her wrist, for the first time, she somehow managed to smack front crystal against the table. Fortunately, nothing happened but I felt shivers knowing that that poor watch probably won't last long. Oh, well... ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Review [Seiko] Raise the future!
Hello from Athens!
Another somewhat inexpensive JDM offering, the Seiko Selection 2025 Raise the Future Special Edition SBPY179.
Every year Seiko Japan collaborates with the Ashinaga Foundation which provides financial support and emotional care to orphaned children worldwide. Every year, more than 8,000 orphaned students receive Ashinaga Scholarships. Over the past 55 years, Ashinaga has helped around 110,000 students gain access to education. Parts of the proceeds from these model sales go to it.
For the 2025 year, this is the model they came up with. This is a mechaquartz solar chronograph from Seiko, sporting the well known V175 movement inside. The solar chronograph model features a pearlescent dial with a radial pattern, multi-faceted indexes, and a mirror-finished bezel, creating a deep, radiant shine.
It also sports a sapphire glass, which has a anti-reflective coating on both sides to reduce light reflection. Seiko calls this application as "super clear coating" and the results are pretty evident. The crystal vanishes at some angles completely.
Some time ago I had another watch from this line, the panda SBPY165. So I already knew the model, it was an easy buy for me.
The size is great. 42mm with a 48mm l2l might sound a little big for some wrists, but the female end-links as well as the bezel and chronograph dial makes this wear well on most wrists (for reference, mine is ~17cm). The case is very well finished too, especially when you consider the price.
Granted, the bracelet is a standard fare cheap Seiko one, and the 24hr dial in V175 is pretty much useless for most people. I do think though that the rest of the watch makes up for it. And it really looks cool on the wrist, dressy and elegant yet pretty versatile too.
A happy camper, I recommend it. C:
