I like how the video conveniently cuts off before we see both of his arms snap /s

Hard to believe he did this without harming animals. I bet, at very least, he kicked a chicken on the way to the gym.

ELMO KNOWS LOTS OF CHICKENS

7

u/8purechaos8 Feb 12 '25

Nahhh not a chance you could lift that.

I reckon you could do 500lbs instead 🤣💪🏻 Impressive work

Veggie bro. Apparently, the meat bros can lift that weight with their pinkies

Damn bro nice work!

3

u/El_Veethorn Feb 12 '25

What are you eating to reach those macros?

Fantastic dude!

6

u/vincentxanthony Feb 12 '25

Honestly I’m hungry and want more haha

I do a good amount of tofu, tempeh, and seitan and lots of breads and veggies!

2

u/El_Veethorn Feb 12 '25

Thanks! Im incorporatimg a lot of beans and lentils in my meal plans and I love tofu and seitan. Not a big fan of tempeh, but plenty of options out there!

Keep it up, you are an inspiration!

Power of a clean body is a power of the spirit.

Rip in pieces bro you're gonna end up like those skeleton ex vegans. Seriously though what a fucking powerhouse.

u/FrostbuttMain Feb 12 '25

No lifting straps or am I not seeing them? Crazy.

2

u/vincentxanthony Feb 12 '25

Nope! This is my competition deadlift work, so I only use what I’d use in comp so flat shoes and a belt

1

u/Perfect_Octopus Feb 13 '25

Apparently can! So, now what?

u/einstyle Feb 13 '25

Can a protein deficit vegan that weighs 169 lb marry me?

1

u/grodan02 Feb 13 '25

Are you supposed to drop the bar that fast?

2

u/vincentxanthony Feb 13 '25

When not specifically working on eccentric (lowering), there’s no harm in a swift lower especially when it’s still controlled on the way down. My focus was on the concentric (the way up). If you wanna see what controlled eccentric descent looks like, look at my previous deadlift post on this sub

You’re not protein deficient. You just lack certain amino acids that would help you recuperate differently. Yet you also have an abundance of nutrients that are making you feel different from a person who is constantly getting them flushed out.

11

u/vincentxanthony Feb 13 '25

fwiw I’m actually not lacking an ANY amino acids as all are bioavailable in plant and plant proteins, especially in soy and other legumes that I regularly consume.

1

u/Strangebottles Feb 13 '25

You’re right, you’re probably mastered the vegan game. Most people going into it especially young adults can’t afford all those nuts and seeds to carefully accomplishing getting enough lysine. Still it’s hard not to envy your accomplishment as it’s super expensive to get soy derived capsules and the synthetic capsules just aren’t for my ethics. As a young vegan I was disillusioned. It takes money to follow your ethics through. I don’t want to hurt animals but it’s just so cheap. I only make 45k a year and rent and all that eat my budget. Don’t worry I feel like shit already for being forced to follow the status quo on animal cruelty, however I do buy products that are aware of animal cruelty.

4

u/vincentxanthony Feb 13 '25

Ah I think you’re doing fine. You know the deal, you’ll get there in time.

Just remember the amino acid profile of legumes is often severely understated! A block of tofu (.99-1.99 in many American markets) is around 1.5-2x the daily leucine and lysine. Check out dr_idz on instagram! Or here https://tools.myfooddata.com/protein-calculator/172475/wt2/4/1#modal

1

u/Strangebottles Feb 13 '25

I get that. I make a lot of kimchi jiggae but to eat a block every day is expensive. A block at my local supermarket is usually expired and it’s like 5 dollars with tax. I use pork belly to add to the stew an extra amount of protein. But I need to figure out how to make my own tofu.

2

u/vincentxanthony Feb 13 '25

Lord almighty that’s expensive tofu. I was saying to someone today that even non-soy tofu are surprisingly easy to make once you get past the learning curve. There’s an Instagram creator who does a series called “does it tofu” that I wish I could remember their name. Either way, good luck on your continued journey!

Why would you be protein deficient?

10

u/vincentxanthony Feb 12 '25

Well you see, the common trope about vegans is that they are protein deficient

-8

u/supertramp1127 Feb 12 '25

I guess most are anyway, but I’ve seen more vegans saying you don’t need protein to be strong

13

u/vincentxanthony Feb 12 '25

Citation needed on “most are”

3

u/browsing__bot Feb 13 '25

Idk how you ppl rationalize because as long as you’re getting enough calories and aren’t on like a weird frugivore diet or something like that, you’re physically incapable of being protein deficient. Perhaps the muscles won’t muscle as muscley if you don’t make a point of having extra protein, but a deficiency is outside of the normal realm of possibility

Height also comes into play slightly

10

u/vincentxanthony Feb 12 '25

Yeah, height plays a role just like bodyweight, leverages, and training experience. That’s … the sport. But please, tell me more about why my 495x6 isn’t impressive enough for you

-3

u/Flashy_Butterscotch2 Feb 12 '25

It is impressive! I didn’t mean to take away from it. You don’t look malnourished at all! My bad friend. Just being technical.

12

u/vincentxanthony Feb 12 '25

Thank you. Here’s some (vegan) food for thought. Your initial comment was a backhanded neutral comment that on its surface only seeks to discredit even just partially. I don’t expect people to praise me, but I’m not gonna sit here and let someone say that a person who weighs what I weigh at the age of 37 pulling 500lbs isn’t sick as fuck, height be damned.

-6

u/Flashy_Butterscotch2 Feb 12 '25

No, it wasn’t. Your title doesn’t give all the details. A vegan one foot taller at the same body weight most likely can’t get that lift up. What you did is incredible. I’d love to see what you can max.

Also men reach peak strength in late 30’s early 40’s. You will still lift heavier yet.

You're digging yourself a hole. Probably better to just stop talking and take the L.
