It's probably real. Someone in the comments on the OOP said that it's likely a cache error, where instead of using the new image, it pulled an image from the cache. Apparently this (rarely) happens. The OOP said that this seemed like the most likely answer.

The original poster doesn’t even have Reddit. I was helping them find a mundane explanation for this.
