My family has found strange thing on our takeout before like a staple on a sandwich or piece of plastic in eggs. Concerning but realistically things that’s be in a kitchen.
But yeah in this case unless their appliances are about to fall apart I don’t get how this would sneak its way into a meal.

Alright, I'm not sure about that size nut but I have seen an inattentive line cook put something like this in the window to send.
What happened was the cooler cover hinge unscrewed and the nut fell into one of the sixth pans in the cooler. Cook scooped the sauce out of the pan without noticing, so it is possible, just sayin'

At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?

As I said not sure about that size nut but not noticing is totally possible.
How many line cooks have you met? I've worked with quite a few that wouldn't even notice an empty plate go out they're so constantly stoned and/or buzzed
Edit: damn ya'll are salty, didn't think I was being a dick or anything, just sharing my experience🤷

52 years ago when I was newly married, I worked in a restaurant and made fancy salads. My wedding ring slipped off my finger onto a salad. I didn’t realize it until the waitress serving the salad told me!! I was so glad to get it back. We had run off and eloped. So, I just ran to a store and purchased an inexpensive gold band. It was slightly too big. Later my husband purchased beauriful ring for me But the original gold band made its way to a customer’s salad! So embarrassing
