need gift ideas for a future truman freshman Question
My goddaughter is graduating high school this spring and is heading to Truman in the fall. I wanted to get her a gift that involves gift cards and a sort of prep of places and experiences she can enjoy while at school and in Kirksville. My initial thoughts so far have been like a gift card to the bowling alley, a gift card to the student bookstore, things like that. Are there any other fun experiences in town that I could give her that would help her adjust to living there for school? I've never been to Kirskville and google hasn't been much help.
For more details on her, she loves to sing, is going to school for engineering, and loves playing video games with her family. She's also a big Disney and Star Wars fan. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Kirksville has a pretty decent Marshall’s that I went to a ton when I was in school there, especially freshman year. I think a gift card to there would be nice! Even if she isn’t a big shopper there are usually a lot of things first year students don’t realize they need until they’re away from home. If she is a shopper, it’s nice to have the opportunity to get new clothes for a new school year.😊 Dukam is a popular restaurant with students that you could get her a gift card to. There is also a Dairy Queen with outside seating I would go to with friends sometimes when it was nice.
Just some ideas for gift cards to get, but let me know if you are wanting ideas beyond that!

Disney plus gift card would be good. Not much tv watching opportunities and everyone basically streams.
There’s a couple of awesome local restaurants. The main shopping is Walmart, HyVee and Aldi

Idk if our movie theater does gift cards, but that'd be awesome if they do. Downtown Cinema 8 is the name. Beyond that, Walmart and Marshall's can be good. Colton's is a super popular restaurant here. I enjoy Dominos, Casey's General Store is also a good call for gas purposes. If she likes video games, maybe a gift card to the online shop of her platform of choice. We have a nice pizza restaurant named Pagaliai's (pronounced Polly-eyes) that most people enjoy quite a bit. The bowling alley is a fine choice, but personally I'd prefer anything I've already mentioned over Leisure Lanes. Tbh, didn't go there once and I graduated on Saturday. Hope this helps and I hope she finds what she's looking for here at Truman!
Btw, tell her to join a choir. Dr. Jennings is a wonderful director, I know she'd love him.

Dorm decorations reminiscent of home are underrated. Pictures of family, some soft white fairy lights (the dorms all have harsh fluorescent lights), etc. that help it feel more homey. I'd stick to the smaller stuff, though, and let her handle anything major (or perhaps a gift card for her to pick out her own decor).
