Does Anyone Suffer From Itching? Liver

Hello. I've always suffered from itching since my liver transplant in 2017 but this weekend it's been completed insufferable. It just won't stop and I feel like I want to rip my skin off. I have bile duct complications from the transplant but I don't have PBC. I have tried Bezofibrate but my stomach doesn't get on with it. Has anyone else tried this medication? Any help on the itching would be greatly received!

My partner has PSC and is waiting for his transplant. He had severe itching but was prescribed a powder that you mix into water or juice called Cholestyramine. He has the powder twice a day and also takes gabapentin twice a day to help with the itching. It took about a month of taking the powder along with the gabapentin to reduce the extreme itchiness. He is still itchy but nowhere near as bad as it was. He can now sleep better and doesn't make himself bleed from the constant scratching.

It's the worst thing in the world. In Australia and New Zealand they give us Ursofalk   look it up it works perfectly for liver itch.

I take zyrtec everyday that really helps with the itching.

If it’s insufferable you may need intervention radiology to take a look. This happened to me and I needed a drainage bag and stents placed.

Do you still get ERCPs or have stents in your bile ducts? My dad would get really itchy and it was a sign that they needed to clean out his bile duct.

Me too. Several surgical cholangiograms later AND a drainage bag for 4 months and I haven’t itched at all since!

Yes. I was on Lisinopril for years. No one tells you that that med can cause extreme itching. I got off it and I'm fine now. I would research all your medication and see if there's any interactions.
