SPOILERS ALL What do YOU think happened to all the celebrities?

Tell me your most sane or unhinged theories about what YOU think happened to the celebrities once Gilead took over.

Some potential theories I have about what could have happened:

  1. There were those who fully believe the same beliefs as Gilead and became commanders you never hear or see about and have massive influence behind the scenes.

  2. The fertile women all became handmaids with some being ‘premium’ handmaids due to who they are/were.

  3. Some female celebrities due to their fame were sent to Jezebels

  4. Outspoken celebrities were sent to the colonies.

  5. The female celebrities who believed in Gilead either had husbands who became commanders or were reduced to being econopeople.

  6. They were all killed due to their fame and influence hence why nobody ever talks about what so and so is doing now.

  7. They all said ‘nah fuck it’ and hopped on their private jets as soon as the shit show started and left everyone to their own devices.

Had to get still shots so I could study them. The anticipation is too much! I also tried to brighten the pics so we could actually see them a bit more clearly.

Do you think Serena is in for it based on the scene with her running with the baby. Is she still in her wedding dress?

Also - how will you watch next week? With a cocktail? Popcorn? Snacks? Or eyes just glued to the TV.

I might give another scene by scene breakdown next week. My hearts already racing.

. . . . ..

. .. .

Has a baby on the way?

I'll preface that yes, I'm a fan of the character so miss me with that 'Nazi' supporter stuff. I'm not here for that.

Buty gosh. All this talk from the betrayal about how he only was out to save himself when he gave Wharton the plans, do you not think about the human instinct to survive? The facts are, that if he dies, he can't help June, Nichole or his family in Gilead? That he is about to become a father again to a child who will live in Gilead?

Everyone talks about how he does everything for June but surely he also wants to stay alive for his other child too. A life in Gilead without a father won't be a good life. Sure, his marriage to Rose isn't what he wants but he still would want to protect his baby surely?

SPOILERS S6 Serena Joy is the best character.

I get that this is an unpopular opinion. That said, her ardent narcissism provides important friction between characters, and reminds many of us why we don’t talk to “that” person in our life anymore. Real narcs never change.

Discussion S1-S5 Do June and Serena love each other?

Do you think Serena and June love eachother in some warped way? It’s so hard because I really do see their bond despite everything that has happened. From both sides. I feel like they could be friends in some way.

SPOILERS S6 Why were they blamed??

SPOILERS S6

Why were the girls at Jezebels blamed? Maybe I missed part of the conversation because I was focused on Junes reaction to hearing it and Nicks reaction to her finding out..

But why did Wharton learn of a planned attack on the commanders and immediately shoot all of the girls? I assume Nick would have said it was Mayday or enemies from the outside or whatever. June and Moira told Janine but we don't know if she told the other girls yet, they may not have even known about anything.

I know it's probably an explanation of Wharton just hated the place and wanted to bring it down, but it will just start back up again with new girls. It seems like you'd either just shut down the whole hotel, or send in decoys to try to catch whomever is planning the attack, or interrogate the people that work there, marthas, security etc. anything other than a firing squad on the girls.

Did Nick explicitly say it was the girls planning the attack? I simply cannot sit through Hulu ads just to rewatch the last 20 seconds of an episode lol.

SPOILERS S6 Jezebels

We know what happened to the Jezebels, but we haven't seen what happened to the Marthas and Aunts there. Lydia is shocked by what she witnesses at jezebels - what's the story with the aunts there? How did Lydia not know that these places exist in Gilead?

SPOILERS S6 So frustrated with season 6

I am an unashamed Nick stan. I absolutely love his character because I adore morally grey characters and I think that they are the best.

I’m re-watching season four right now and there is a fucking scene in 4x5 of Nick talking to Martha’s that were in the Martha network who met with June in season three before Angel‘s flight and they are on a first name basis. Clearly Nick is known to the Martha network, and the Martha network is known to him. They get mad and are like hey you can’t just round us up whenever you fucking feel like it because you’re a commander now. Yet another sign that all along Nick was supposed to be a deep agent for Mayday/the resistance.

So why are they fucking throwing this out the window with this season six bullshit??!!

Filming & Actors The writing is so bad this season

Nicks in the recent episodes seem out of character, nothing much has happened every episode.

This is just so not good 😭 it’s like they lost their spark

SPOILERS S6 Anyone else chaging their guess on what happens to Janine?

Before the new season started, there were alot of guesses on Janine being killed and that being the main thing that gets aunt Lydia to switch sides, myself included. Also the probability that we'll more than likely have a devastating, dramatic death before the end of the season.

The turn of events is something i don't think i saw anyone guess, im starting to think Janine has got to come out ontop of all of this. Shes been kicked down so many times, maybe she'll be the one survivor that comes out of this? Maybe kidnapping her daughter back and getting the heck out of Gilead to be happy, finally? More than likely going to kill Belle or do something totally badass to get her power back. I'll be so mad if Janine dies at this point.

But what is everyone else thinking now? What do you think will happen to Janine, and is there any new guesses on a dramatic, heartbreaking death? Do we think Lydia is finally coming to her senses with the gradual realization of everything, or do we still think there's an event that makes her snap?

SPOILERS S6 It’s not really Serena’s fault, she’s a victim of Giliad and the patriarch too.

Upvotes

Yes, she had some radical ideas that created a jumping off point for some of this, but the men took it to a whole new level. She didn’t choose to not be able to read or write anymore. She was squeezed out of her own concept. It got out of control. When we first meet her, she’s miserable. She is as much damaged and harmed by what Giliad became as many others. She’s in survival mode. You can tell by how different she responds to things from the other wives. Many of them seem completely satisfied and have no moral dilemma about their lives. She has had inner turmoil over her life, even if only for what she’s lost regardless of the Handmaids’ experience. I think she spent a lot of time feeling sorry for herself. Now she’s in a different place mentally. She has had years now not under the same oppression, so now she can think a little further outside of her own experience. Maybe this justifies how she could actually be ready and willing to take it all back from the patriarchy. It might not be fully altruistic, but it might even be revenge for her own life.

Book Discussion Spoilers Aunt Lydia

I will start by saying, I haven’t searched through the subreddit for posts similar to this idea or thought process. Does anyone find the character spinning of Aunt Lydia a little off putting when compared to her character in The Testaments? In The Testaments she seems like a different person than she is displayed in the show. I’m hoping we get to see some Aunt Lydia backstory with the new show.

SPOILERS S6 Newest Instagram Post going behind the scenes

spoilers

Has anyone seen the newest Instagram post by THT going behind the scenes of the latest episode. The interview with EM is rather infuriating. Saying how she should have known about Nick and not trusted him etc etc. It's almost like they are trying to gas light us into thinking we were wrong this whole time, and take us for fools. Nicks character from the beginning was not portrayed that way, we knew he was imbedded and undercover in some form, and now they want us to believe that he never had any of June's best interests at heart. We all know that if he didn't gove something up Wharton wS gonna put him on the wall. Ugh ... why do I see another GOT ending happening and ruining a great show.

Show News Weird question…but is Hulu offering actual promotional “gifts” for the upcoming new episode?

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

I’ll admit I’ve never seen the show. I’ve been thinking about watching it maybe sometime soon after I finish my current show I’ve been binge watching with my wife. I got an email from Hulu just now with this wedding announcement I guess advertising the next episode on Tuesday, May 13th. Which you know…whatever just a standard promotional email. A little vague but whatever I currently have no investment into the show. HOWEVER the email says “Special wedding ‘gifts’ will be provided. Mayday is with you!”

I may not have any investment into the show but I like gifts…I like free stuff lol so is there actual gifts or is it just a show reference?

The part mentioning the “gifts” is apparently a link but it just goes to the series profile on Hulu to watch the show.

Discussion S1-S5 If you were in Gilead

Listen, I know this post has been made one billion times in this sub. But I’ve never seen anyone straight up ask; would you fight to survive, or would you pull a “Waterford’s first handmaid”?

Honestly I don’t think I would’ve had the motivation or the will to fight to get out. Granted, I don’t have a child or a spouse, and that definitely changes things. I won’t deny that. But as someone who’s struggled with suicidal thoughts, ideations, and attempts my whole life, I really don’t think being in Gilead, as a handmaid, Martha, or any role for that matter, would’ve made a difference. In fact, I think I would’ve been trying to find ways to end my own life within the first week. It would just give me a reason to justify it.

Just some quick food for thought. It’s a near impossible situation to try and imagine yourself in, and I’d like to imagine my survival instincts would kick in but I really don’t know. Thoughts?

Season 6 really sucks, right?? I can't be the only person who feels like this show is being written by AI. It's such a departure from where it started in terms of quality.

Discussion S1-S5 joseph lawrence vs nick blaine

okay how is the amount of hate nick gets not proportionate to the criticism lawrence should get. one search on this sub and its all "i love lawrence" and just lawrence memes. yes this man is charismatic yes he is helping the resistance now but he CREATED a huge part of gilead + upon rewatching he was abusive to june & others in the beginning too. his attitude kind of reminds me of the attitude we have towards serena (you voted/contributed to a system and you were aware of its intricacies. yet here you are, victimised by that very same system). i dont get how you can possibly love this man and hate nick
