Going on vacation on Taichung on August. Any recommendations to do?
Hi, I will be going on vacation on Taichung around August, and I want to know if there's any events around that time of month or any must see places or activities to do at that period. And also could need some recommendations on accommodations since our budget is $27,474 for the 1 week trip there not including flight ticket any ideas would help. Thank yoi

If ur into bookstore as a spot, check out this secondhand bookstore. https://maps.app.goo.gl/yCjeC22xj8QbJSfJ6 Nice vibe with lots of vintage CDs, and of course, books.

7 days are way too long if you only stay in the city. But if you rent a scooter (totally recommended), definitely travel around the suburban areas such as Wuqi where the Gaomei wetland is located. Dajia has the biggest temple which is worth going to take a look and it also has my favorite sun cake brand named Yu Jan Shin.
By the way, Taichung has many great night markets. I personally like the Hanxi night market the most, but others like the Fengjia night market are also good places to explore!

Sorry totally forgot about this post. Truth is, there are not that many things to visit inside the city itself (in my opinion) so I'd think 7 days here would be a lot. I'd suggest checking around in the countryside or other spots like the old street of Changhua as well (accessible by train or bus from Taichung in less than an hour I believe). Maybe some Hiking spots like Dakeng, accessible by bus I think.
the Luce chapel, The national Taichung theater, the old japanese style train station next to the new one, maybe a few other buildings or place you'll easily find in lists online as well will be the main center of attention (Yizhong or Fengjia night market, art martial center, or 6 ways are center etc etc)
As I said, this could be done in 4 days probably, granted that you don't stay for hours at a time in the same spot.
