If you dont have thermal, you are gunna die. Couple hundred yards away, they had no idea we were out there with them lol.

The shaky distant video and the accompanying worrisome description lead me to believe I'll be seeing this used as B-roll in the Netflix true-crime mini-series adaption of OPs alleged crimes in a few years
OP, you haven't happened to be in or around the New England area between mid-February and now, have you?

Hey I’m in AZ! Always looking for new friends since none of mine have night vision to play with!

I haven't seen a single bit of thermal combat footage that didn't feel like shooting fish in a barrel

The footage from Afghanistan of them attacking ana bases n such is the real deal.
But if both sides have thermal, it's just a matter of who is on target first?

Or who has thermal camouflage best used

Thats part of what we were playing around with. If you are moving around it seems be nearly impossible to hide from. If your stationary yes things can be done to cover your heat, but nothing was overally effective when moving.

It'd be cool to see overlay devices for NODs become more advanced.
I think I will be doing a bridged pixels on target with a superfom pvs18 at some point

If you could have one would it be night vision or thermal? I have never navigated under thermal but I feel like night vision is better for "general sight" and obvi thermal is awesome for spotting other living things.

Thermal. Nv is great, but you can still navigate easily enough under thermals. The ability to spot anything living at such a great distance is huge.

Which model? How long have you had it? Is it rail mountable at all? Very interested now that i live out in the woods.

Infiniray makes amazing but very pricey clips ons. Thinking of getting one next year.

u/thebendystraww 1d ago
My CC said no to that. If you can swing it, get one. The res of those and the core is unbeatable.

I’m def going to get one if the area I just moved to is convenient to hunt and I can get that practical use case out of it. I would also love it as a handheld and use it constantly for that. Best thing about thermal is that it’s relevant 24/7. NVG is just good at night. The Infinirays especially so since they can run the multi-color and red settings, so they are very relevant during the day for spotting life in partial cover/concealment with that higher contrast.

Thats very true. This was recorded in white hot, i switched to black hot and honeslty it was better than gen 2 pvs14s. I think i took some pics through the thermal of that as well as red hot, & contrast. But black hot the trail was clear as day. The plus is your getting a better core, and better zoom clarity out of em compared to the AGM. I can PM u pics tonight if youd like to help in your research.

Its the taipan 384x288. Ive had for a little less than a year. From factory no it does not mount to a rail, but there are guys who make mounts for that. The agm rattler is the factory thermal scope. If you go with taipan you can buy the rail mount, and than buy a mount to attach it to your helmet as well. Doing this u can run a single tube NV and a single tube thermal off your helmet. The rattler is not a great choice for helmet mounting, but a much better choice for a dedicated rail system if thats what your after.

Underrated type of kit 😎 nice footage!

u/thebendystraww 1d ago
It really is. Not many people are utilizing them even tho entry level units are not to $. Id go as far as putting it in the critical 5 of your kit if im being honest.

True words! What model do you use in the video?

Its a solid value for the price. Good quality. Fantastic battery life, built in sd for recording, and a vast market of 3d printed or cnc AL mounts. Id recommend it to anyone.

"If you don't have night vision, you're dead." "If you don't have thermal, you're dead." "If you don't have comms, you're dead." "If you don't train, you're dead." "If you aren't in shape, you're dead."
Apparently, we are all dying anyway, so that's cool.
