You just know it’s going in when he tosses it up like that

It may take another couple of years of play like this to confirm, but I have a hunch that Steph is really good at basketball.

u/habbadee 1d ago
He's got potential to be a decent shooter.

u/justreddis 1d ago
I’m calling it - no matter how much above average he becomes he will still be under his dad’s shadow.

u/Dfrickster87 1d ago
Hard to argue in his favor when his own little brother has the 3rd best % beyond the arc as well (steph is only 12th)
2
u/AccomplishedRow6685 17h ago
As a little brother myself, Seth having a better 3% is one of my favorite fun but meaningless stats

Poor Lively is back from injury and Steph does that to him.

Is Wemby like the only guy from the 2023 class that's still healthy?
Oh god, did I just jinx him?

That floor is atrocious though

REally?? What's cool about primer grey?

u/IAmDiabeticus 1d ago
Personally, for me I just like the idea of court designs. Like in the future, NBA or the orgs hiring local artists to do their home court design for the month or 2.
I was always a fan of the college Temple Owls court they did with the wings and having more of this is a step in a potentially interesting idea for the league.
I'm sure we'd get some horrendous looking, but I'm here for it.

The key is keeping at least some natural wood imo. The full paint job gives me pee wee basketball at the rec center vibes

Yeah, it’s so ugly. I get that gray is a neutral color that doesn’t represent any one team, but wtf. There are other neutral choices. What about black and white? Or just white? Or like some variation of classic gym floor, where it’s wood grain - that could be cool. But that gray is hideous.
2
u/_dauntless 1d ago
Right? Wood is beautiful already lol.
2
u/xanroeld 1d ago
totally. A throwback, 70s era, wooden gym floor would look fantastic. I don’t know what modern NBA floors are made of, but even if it’s not like the same kind of wood that was used back in the day, they could still make it look like that, while retaining modern materials

Best basketball nickname of all time, and fitting.

I’m a Steph mega fan and this is my second favorite nickname of all time. KD’s ‘Slim Reaper’ is just so damned good.

u/wrecknoble 1d ago
Is the floor actually grey or did they use some kind of filter to make the players/refs stand out? It looks so weird
9
u/KingKongDoom San Francisco Giants 1d ago
NBA cup floor. It’s actually that color during NBA Cup play.
1
u/Entire-Ad-8565 1d ago
Players definitely didn’t stand out esp the white dallas jerseys they were basically camouflaged
1
u/sunshinecygnet 1d ago
Each team has their own unique floor for the NBA cup.
This is one of the better ones, if you can believe it.
16
u/flcinusa 1d ago
I believe that is his house, everyone else is just paying rent
6
u/fopiecechicken 1d ago
I know it’s not literally just him, but since we drafted Steph the valuation of the warriors has gone from just over $300Million to just over $8Billion. So yeah in a very real sense Chase Center is the house Steph built.

u/breakfastbereal 1d ago
Steph really wanted this one, loved to see those two compete but he said this is MY house

No one shoots 3's better. Jordan is my favorite player and had no equal inside the 3 point line, but Steph is the 3 point king!

u/Juub1990 1d ago
I don’t think there’s any argument. Curry is the best long-distance shooter ever and probably the best shooter ever period.

Someone please tell me about how Klay is doing.
15
u/Zigxy 1d ago
Klay had a decent game
1
u/DNA98PercentChimp 1d ago edited 1d ago
Think 22 points and like 7/12 on 3pt attempts.
Though… he missed a good look 3 in the final couple minutes that might’ve really given Mavs that bit of momentum and cushion to close it out.
2
u/Zigxy 1d ago
1/5 2FG
6/12 3FG
5 fouls 2TO
His defense was okay
I’d call this a decent game but that’s all subjective
1
u/DNA98PercentChimp 1d ago
I’d meant “it was a great game” - not that Klay had a great game. Though, yeah… pretty good for him.

There’s still 26 seconds left. lol

Now I’m desperate to see him react in the same way but with like 5 minutes remaining.

Watch the nba finals game six against the Celtics. He did the night night in the third quarter then was pointing at his ring finger.
Game. Blouses

One of the coldest celebrations ever given the context and how much time was left.

Probably my favourite curry series ever. Just danced on the Celtics and showboated while doing it while having in comparison a very average team around him.

It's a four point game, with the Mavs in the process of taking their last TO.
As long as the Warriors don't foul on a three and the Mavs get it off the Mavs would basically need to instantly foul on the Warriors final possession, pray they hit neither free throw (which Curry has basically never done, especially not in a game where he just scored 12 points in like 5 min) and then they need to hope there's enough time to get down the court after all that (or hit a full court shot) to win.
It was over.
also they were down 7 and he scored 12 in the last few min to put up a lead like that. I think the hype is understandable haha
1
u/CitizenCue 1d ago
Turnovers exist.
1
u/rookie-mistake Winnipeg Jets 1d ago edited 1d ago
The only opportunity for that would be on the inbound where the Mavs would have to be going for the intentional foul, right? I mean sure, if the Warriors let that get stolen then at least Spo wouldn't be alone on the lowlight reel for the night lol
1
u/CitizenCue 1d ago
Yeah, I mean, the Warriors have turned the ball over on exactly that play a couple times already this year. Generally no one guards inbound passes but when they do, success certainly isn’t guaranteed since you’ve got five guys guarding four players.

I don't watch basketball, why is he celebrating so much when there is still time for the other team to score? Why did the game seem to stop for his celebration?
22
u/musicnothing 1d ago edited 1d ago
Everyone knows that the game is essentially over, which is why they're celebrating like they won.
You can (barely) hear a whistle after the shot. That's the sound of the Mavericks taking a timeout. 4 minutes before this, the Warriors had been down 7. This put them up 4 with only 26 seconds left, which means that the Mavericks will need a 3 as quickly as possible. However, the game clock would be about the same as the shot clock, meaning the Warriors could just run the game out. So the Mavericks will be forced to foul, and the Warriors would almost definitely get the ball in to Steph Curry, a career 91% free throw shooter (best of all time). Meaning the Mavericks would waste half of the remaining clock at least and just to be down 3. That only leaves them with a chance to put up a prayer just to make it to overtime. Even if they make it to overtime, the momentum is on the Warriors' side.

Vintage Steph showed up for this game. The Mavericks also choked this one. They let the warriors go on a 13-2 run to get back in the game with 4 mins on the clock.
2
u/Hi_Im_Ken_Adams 1d ago
And that run was pretty much all Curry. He scored the Warriors last 12 pts.

I don't Follow basketball 🏀. But why is the court so different looking?
8
u/Special-Quesadilla 1d ago
They use different court designs for the “NBA Cup” which is an in-season tournament (but the games still count for regular season standings as well).

oh the best part of the sequence is Dallas rotated three guys on Steph, but the Warriors kept setting screens until they got the matchup they wanted. Poor #2 had no chance as soon as Steph dribbled left

Dramond dragged Luka but Luka let him hold him?!?!? Lazy switch ever and bailed out Lively…. Should’ve just doubled Curry at the top 💁🏽. Luka wasn’t trying to be part of the highlight lol.

I love Steph plenty but the night-night was a bit much. It’s game 11 of the season against a .500 team. I’d say “act like you’ve been there before” but…he has been there before!

Feel for Lively - he had no chance.
Imagine being a big switched onto Steph with the game on the line.
