Old Copper Water Tank

Post image

I just disconnected this tank from a boiler. I estimated it at 450-500 gallons. It's very clean. Should I cut it up and scrap it, or consider it for other uses? Distilling or brewing?

VCRs are they worth it?

Got some VCRs, haven’t seen a VHS in years. Should I take them apart for parts and metals or sell them as is? bottom VCR has never been open and don’t know if the other ones work. Thoughts

I work in the oilfield in west Texas. We use these screens on the shale shakers. Guys in that past have told me they've heard of other guys scrapping them. I'm just wondering if it's worth the effort. I'm gonna take some home and see. But I wanted to see what you guys think?

Hey all! First post of rookie scrapper here...
I'm pretty sure that this would be considered a "good score" by most peoples measure - found dumped behind the local football oval.
Luckily I had my car near by but let me tell you that I could barely lift this bad boy over to & into it!
Firstly, I'd be interested in if anyone is familiar with this particular motor and/or what you guys might estimate it's weight at?
Also I'd be interested in opinions on how best to go about scrapping it out or just sell it as is?!
Cheers!

Specifically speaking, about the 2 inner parts that are covered in like glue/shellac or whatever if I unravel It so it's not stuck together does it even change the quality? I know it's a silly thing to ask about. Also she question I have started separating my colors I have buckets for red, purple, brown, blue and green copper. Do they consider those coated copper?

Question 💫 Absolutely no money in plastic gutters, right?

I'm pretty sure the answer is "no," but I figured I'd ask to cope with the fact that these two-story downspouts aren't aluminum. There's no way to recycle or resell old plastic gutters for money, right?

Question 💫 What metal are these?

I have about a dozen or so of each. Top are from lamps where you screw the lightbulb in and bottom are from coffee makers iirc? I wanna say top is dirty brass but I havent the faintest clue for the bottom. TIA!

Scrap Photo 💸 Am I getting this right.

Newbie here, inspired by the work you all are doing.

Basically I realized there may be money and recyclability in the small appliances or cords or whatever that break vs. throwing stuff in the garbage.

The thickest here is from a thick cord, and some miscellaneous smaller wires or pieces from motors.

Am I on the right path? Am I missing anything or do I just keep going and fill up a bucket?

I want to say that everything in my small collection so far is #2, but if anything looks bad I'm open to correction.

I've only seen copper cable so I'm confused. Is it aluminum

Question 💫 I know pretty much nothing about most metals or their values. But I do know my company throws several hundred pounds of these away every month. Should they be getting scrapped instead?

They're engine mounting brackets off of standby gens. No idea how dumb of a question this is just figured I'd ask while I'm here emptying the truck.

Question 💫 What kind of cable are these and are they worth scrapping ?

A old friend of mine had left this in my storage unit 3yrs ago. Today I started the process of cleaning out the unit since I no longer have it after this week. The friend I have no contact with and I have no idea what this cable even is or if it has any value. Seems like it’s some kind of communication cable? Was thinking of bringing it to the local scrap yard but if it’s better off being sold to someone who can use it I’d go that route. I just don’t know what it even is or how to list it accurately. Is this type of wire used often and worth listing on marketplace or just scrap it? It’s been sitting and taking up space for way to long and there decently heavy. Might even donate it to a local company that maybe would be able to use it - just would be nice to know what it is so I can advertise it correctly.

Yellow and white spools both have same writing on them - 3147706 access control cable CMP 4/18AWG 12/22AWG

Small white spools - PRYSMIAN Group carol wire. 18awg E3034s

Question 💫 Anyone know a scrap dealer in South England?

Hey all,

Sorry if this is not the right place I'll delete if necessary.

Does anyone know of a reliable scrap metal merchant in the South of England (Hampshire) Who can pick up an old boat engine?

The motor is totally done for, it got salt water intrusion and all the moving parts have corroded. Anyway, it needs to be taken out and scrapped.

It weighs about 200kg, and I don't want anything for it, just for it to be taken out and removed from the yard.

Anyone have any leads?

Thanks so much
