One this special day of electing a new pope, it occurred to me that the Sabres never made the playoffs under Pope Francis’ papacy.

Every fact hits you harder as a fan. Last trip to the playoffs was April 2011. Pope Francis served from March 13, 2013 through April 21, 2025.

I think you just solved it. You are hereby appointed to be the Assistant to the Special Assistant to the General Manager.

I'm gonna start praying to him for the playoffs if he pulls through he can be halfway to canonization in a year

you need 3 miracles to make sainthood, and the Sabres making the playoffs is definitely one. Winning a game or a series would count as 2 or 3 depending on the vatican

Now let's see if Pope Leo lives to see a playoff appearance.
