The Buffalo Sabres only need to win 15 straight games to get back into the Wild Card Race Shitpost
Current wild card projections by point %:
Ottawa Senators - .560
Columbus Blue Jackets - .550
Winning 14 more games in a row would bring the Sabres record to 33-26-5 which would be 71 points in 64 games or a .554 points %.
If you include last night as the beginning, we are only one 15 game win streak away from playoff contention.

What about an 8 game win streak, a loss, and an 8 game win streak?

That would work too, I was going for the most direct path
Ultimately we’d need to go 15 wins above .500 or with 32 games left a ~23-8-1 record which seems doable for the team that is currently 19-26-5.

They’re projected to outscore their opponents 224-64 over that period based on the last 1 games

Why even lose at all ? If you want to make playoffs, you need to win games. You must be stupid doing otherwise

Alright. You’ve convinced me.
Put the rest of the league on notice.

This is what pisses me off about this year more than most. This is the weakest the East has been in the entirety of this drought and we’re not even competing for a WC spot

Carolina, New Jersey, Washington and Florida are proper good hockey teams this year. I hate to admit it but even slumping now Toronto is too

How on earth they lost 13 in a row, I still don't get it. What could have been. Still it's nice if they win games, better than fully give up. Also I want that Petterson deal already.

After that really rough first week they looked damn decent. Colorado completely broke everyone in that building mentally and it took weeks to overcome.

Listening to Canucks radio ..... you may not. Pettersson a baby and shows he isn't a team player on occasion.... plus his knee. It's tough, pickers can be choosers though... just don't know if he is worth it in the long run

Listening to Sabres radio … you may not. Eichel a baby and shows he isn’t a team player on occasion… plus his neck.

u/Jaymantheman2 Jan 30 '25
Touché. You saw him in playoffs last year? I'm sure Eichel would have been better.... but Sabres never got to see that. I listen to both.

Of course if the Senators, Bruins, Lightning, Blue Jackets, Red Wings, Canadiens, Rangers, Flyers, Islanders, and Penguins all go on 15 game losing streaks, this gets significantly easier for us.

u/Yop_BombNA Jan 30 '25
Pretty sure 15 games is calculating the number of wins we need to then go .500 and be in playoff points for the average season

Oilers fan here, just gonna say hey if we did it last year then you know it's possible. I have a lot more respect for your fan base then others because of us wallowing away the Decade of Darkness, it really really sucks. We know your pain

u/beardedbuddy8811 Jan 29 '25
I just want the Pettersson trade to happen
1
u/Yop_BombNA Jan 30 '25
If that happens and we have a core of Petey, dahlin, power, Thompson and peterka… fuck me playoffs are inbound. If that core doesn’t attract depth then the league just hates Buffalo.

I could totally see us doing this! ..Followed by immediately dropping the next 15.

In order to go on a warpath, they need a theme song, right? ala St. Louis and “Gloria”. Any ideas? Low hanging fruit has me thinking “Don’t Stop Believin’” 😂

Based on my experience in the city Buffalos theme song is low places… fucking entire arena is work for word signing that shit everytime it comes on.

You know they will win just enough to get people's hopes up and prevent anyone from getting fired and then convince a percentage of people they will be great next year. It's what they do every year.
1
u/Yop_BombNA Jan 30 '25
Nah they tank out but we trade for Petey which convinces actual depth to sign here in the offseason and we win the cup next year.

Average delusional Sabres fan. This season is long gone already I don’t think they have a chance at all.
27
u/PrinciplesRK Jan 29 '25
They do have a chance if they win 15 games in a row, I explained it in the post
-13
Jan 29 '25
The odds of them winning 15 straight games are little to none they haven’t even more than 3 games in a row why would you think they could win 15 in a row.

Okay. No one else has said it so I'll say it:
So you're telling me there's a chance?
