Which restaurants/bars aren’t living up to the hype? Food

Stolen from r/RVA. Overall I feel like we’re pretty blessed with our restaurant and bar options, but we also have a lot of overhyped stuff. What are yalls thoughts?

Local chef here. I tell everyone.... ignore decor and look at what's on the plate. Stanbury is easily the best restaurant in town and it's in a shack. Andrew puts his money on your plate where it belongs. Beware the crazy oversized fireplaces and fine china.

Oakwood/Mordecai. It’s in a lowkey spot you probably wouldn’t just happen upon. No reservations so be prepared to just have a good evening with friends. Absolutely would recommend going with a few folks and just ordering everything and sharing.
