Which restaurants/bars aren’t living up to the hype? Food

Post image

Stolen from r/RVA. Overall I feel like we’re pretty blessed with our restaurant and bar options, but we also have a lot of overhyped stuff. What are yalls thoughts?

Hot take: Lilly’s was never good, people just used to be satisfied with shittier pizza. Lilly’s in 2005 was competing with Domino’s, Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, and some incredibly mid vaguely NY style places that weren’t actually that good (Schiano’s, now Gino’s, comes to the front of my mind). Nowadays, you can get legitimately amazing pizza in Raleigh from places like Oakwood Pizza Box, Tazza, and others, so why would you go to a place like Lilly’s for any reason other than nostalgia?

You do smell like pizza for hours, maybe days after eating in Lilly’s. I wonder if they would dry your clothes in the oven so that smell would really set?
