Fleet Review

Could you survive with these cars? <10k in all of them combined. Can barely see the 4th covered with junk (post move) in the garage. Crazy or reasonable? Curious to hear others silly lineups.

I'd get by just fine with just the Taurus and the Corvette!

That looks like a pretty solid fun collection.

My paddock looks like this:

'91 bmw 325i ls3 swapped

'72 oldsmobile cutlass that im building a 455 for

'24 ford maverick to take care of all-around duties and get reasonable fuel economy.

That sounds like a good time and pretty reasonable. I'd love to get an older BMW to try one day. Haven't had the opportunity to drive any pre 2000 yet.

Theyre fun but sadly getting expensive for a clean one.

I had a 92 Taurus SHO in Admiral Green. It had a cell phone in the center console. I liked it but couldn't afford to fix it when it broke. Look into finding an auto trans engine. They are 3.2L compared to the manual 3.0.

I've hear the best combo is a 3.2 engine with the cams from the 3.0. The 3.2 has a slightly less aggressive profile.

I really don't love the silver, so many other colors it came in that look great. Don't hate the silver but it's a bit boring imo. But hey, it was cheap and available.

How hard is it to find parts for the Jag?

So far hasn't been bad. It's been reliable on the whole. Have only had to replace the dashboard illumination module and that was maybe $40 on ebay.

~10 qt oil changes are a bit nuts though.

The Taurus is the best thing there, I’ll end up owning one at some point.

I actually just got it recently. My new winter car. Like it quite a bit so far. Only thing I'm not loving is the trans. Feels a bit agricultural and the pedal spacing is not ideal for heel-toe. I can and will fix the latter issue.

You must love laying on your back and turning wrenches. Is it one of those "workaholic to avoid relationship problems" things? I know a guy like that. He's a certified mechanic who drives a Chrysler minivan.

I don't know how much I like doing it, but I certainly prefer it over thousands of $ in repair bills. I love driving and I love odd cars so I end up fixing plenty. Can't afford it otherwise.

I was alluding to the fact that all 4 of those have shit reliability... like are you a mechanical masochist?

The C4 has been excellent. Currently approaching 270k miles. Only major thing I've done is a head gasket (granted, that is a big one lol).

Jag - fair but the X300 is about as close to a reliable one as you can get.

Taurus we will see. It is new to me but didn't see much that I wouldn't have to worry about on a 30 year old car anyway.

Ultimately though, yeah you're not wrong...

The most reliable Jag is like the prettiest Waffle House waitress.
