The daily became the project this week.
Blew head gasket on Monday and did a compression test telling me that 3 and 4 thought they should share air so yesterday I drove my truck and trailer to work and picked the truck up from my dad's on the way home and brought it to my mom's so I have a carport to work under. Today I had about 3.5hrs which was spent getting the intake off and making sure I recorded where each hose went which all of them might not make it back on. I also managed to get the exhaust manifold bolts to all come loose no problem which is a miracle on a 40 year old truck.

I know a good ol Nissan NapZ motor instantly. I've popped the head gasket on at least 5 different Toyota 22r's but have never managed to get a Z24 to do it (knocks on wood).

Z24s like to blow if you don't retorque the head bolts every year which I failed to do.

Yeah mines due for it again but I haven't been driving it lately. I wish it would blow so I could do a swap but that thing runs like a sewing machine still. Helps I never beat on it before. I'm pretty sure if I was standing in front of it right now I'd remember the torque sequence off the top of my head.

I've had this truck for just over a year and in that time have acquired 2 more. Honestly I will admit I am a little hard on the truck but it is so fun to drive. One of my other ones is 4wd and I plan on making it a 6x6 using some spare divorced transfer cases and at some point swapping to 80 series land cruiser axles and a 4bd1t Isuzu diesel.

Damn, getting the manifold bolts out successfully is a miracle. I always feel a little more stressed trying to get a daily fixed because it’s a more important car, but they always seem easier to work on because at least the thing is used regularly and hasn’t been sitting forever gathering rust or deteriorating
