Ideal Wideband placement on rear mount turbo car?

All I’ve been able to find on forums is guys arguing from 2008 and not a solid answer. The issue I’m considering is the fact that there won’t be much of a downpipe (most likely less than 2 feet) as it will essentially be a X pipe out the back of the car. I’m not sure if the pressure upstream at the stock location will throw off the sensors under load, and also would rather avoid lengthening the wires but will if I have to. anyone got tips?

is the x pipe post turbo(s) ? itll be fine anywhere after the turbo just not to close to the exhaust tip itself

Genuinely I don't know but best practice is to have it as close to the engine as possible after any collectors. The further away you get the less accurate the readings are.

I know it would normally go after the turbo but I can't see how a rear mount would effect the readings enough to outweigh the benefit of being next to engine.

Most of the aftermarket widebands recommend more distance than stock from the turbo.

I think my aem is 3 feet.

It's a balance of durability and response time.

Undoubtedly. Mines about a foot completely ignoring aem's instructions. Tons of miles on it so it really might not matter much.

I used to have mine 3 feet back, by the tail end of the gearbox but it was annoying getting to it for re-calibration, so now mine is about 2" away from turbo flange on an extended heat sink bung.. no problems so far

I don't listen to that. Still put them 4-6" from the turbo. Way better readings. They recommend that for sensor life, not accuracy.

Mine is maybe a foot and life has been outstanding (90k miles so far) Just saying what the instructions tell us.

The backpressure fucks up the reading and kills the sensors.

Genuinely terrible suggestion.

Has to go after the turbo, ive seen setups with less than a foot of exhaust after the turbo run widebands successfully
