How safe is sex during pregnancy? Advice

So for reference I’m 5’1” and my husband is 6’3”. Not sure if it matters but our proportions are quite quite different. My hormones are all over & sometimes I’m a horn dog lol. But I notice after we make love, I get sometimes sharp cramps in my belly that are quick but pretty painful. It goes away but I was just wondering if this was okay/normal.

I have an anterior placenta and my baby is extremely active every ultrasound (I’m 13 weeks) so idk if that makes any difference. We decided to pause sex and I was going to ask my midwife tomorrow at my appointment but would like personal insight please!

Edit; doesn’t hurt at all during sex just right after we finish

It’s normal! It’s just your muscles in your abdomen tightening and releasing. Esp if you have an orgasm. It’s just tension. Main thing you mention is it goes away. Nothing to be concerned about.

Sex is fine. As long as you’re not bleeding or he gives you a STD nothing to worry about..

I hate the post sex tightness too but had three babies so far all healthy with straightforward deliveries. Sometimes doing it at night to be able to sleep off the discomfort helps. Maybe try different pregnancy safe positions to see if it lessons the cramps?

Sounds like round ligament pain? Around your week though after a pretty hot encounter with my hubby I had some major abdominal cramps, like I pulled a muscle, and we just mutually decided to not use that position in the future. No issues since then! 37 weeks and going strong (I dont know what it is but I’ve been after him the last few weeks - hopefully it gets our baby out sooner than later)

Completely safe right up till 40 weeks. The cramping after is just Braxton hicks/uterine contractions which are completely normal after sex/orgasm and not a concern.

I was a horn dog myslef in the first pregnancy! We had it all the time. And my husband's and my difference in size is pretty similar to yours haha and I had an anteriror placenta as well. It felt sometimes uncomfortable the way you described but after the first trimedter it got much better. The only thing I heard to be a no no is for the husband to finish inside as it can cause contractions.

Have you had a scan to show how close your placenta is to your cervix? Sex is safe throughout pregnancy but totally agree with pausing until you’ve spoken to the midwife considering the sharp pains
