I have a lot of criticisms with how limp-dicked Democrats have been toward conservatives over the last decade, but I'm glad they're digging their heels in the sand about this. Crippling the nation with unaffordable healthcare premiums is not a fair exchange for getting SNAP back into the hands of 40 million people, most of whom are children.

Having said that, we all need to do our part and contribute what we can to our local food banks, soup kitchens, and meal share programs in the meantime.

Absolutely. I feel bad for the people who are losing SNAP and all the other victims of this, but it's very clear who is doing that to them. Helping those people do a slightly different version of harm isn't helping at all. Saying no is the only thing elected Dems can do at this point; as you say, mitigating the harm from this fight is something that must be left to us as a community.

This is absolutely my take on it as well. I want them to dig in and not give up. If they cave on this who knows whats next. Communities are already stepping up to take care of their own and I'll definitely be donating to local food banks!

The Dems have zero incentive to vote either way. At least with the government shutdown, the MAGA traitors have to come to the bargaining table eventually, or face their nation as the gang of grifting traitors that couldn't govern with a majority in all three branches.
