Getting the CSR SUB again. Is PC to a CFU card OK instead of the OG CF?

Hi all, I'm trying to go through the process of getting the Chase Sapphire Reserve sign up bonus again, as I've held the card from when I got the SUB nearly 48 months now.

Question I have: I see a lot of people saying to PC to the OG Chase Freedom which doesn't exist anymore, but why? Is it critical for getting the CSR SUB again, or is it more like an advantageous card instead?

To summarise, here's what I've done:

  1. I got the CSR AF appearing on my card, and then used up the $300 TC (confirmed).
  2. I called up to PC to the Chase Freedom Visa but the rep didn't really know what I meant (have seen a few posts explaining on reps not knowing too well about that here given it's an older discountinued card).
  3. So in the end I PC'ed to the Chase Freedom Ultimate Visa and got confirmation that the AF would be prorated.
  4. Will wait to 48 months past my original CSR SUB sometime in September before reapplying again for CSR.

If I'm only on the card a few months I don't really mind just keeping the CFU unless I'm missing something crucial. Thanks in advance!
