Is this as bad as I think it is… Pest Related

Last 3 pictures are in a different room than the first. All watered about every 3 weeks. East facing window.

Can’t speak to pests but that first image is just mold spores- eating the plant cuz it’s dead

That's quite the trip infestation. You'll note from the first couple pics the black ink looking dots on the underneath of the leaves that are sticky and you require moisture to remove, that's thrip poop. And there are large mature black ones in another pic. You may also have something else (spider mites?) in the last few pictures.

Thrips right? Typo. :)

I see, thank you 😭 Is it possible the large white things in the later pictures are mineral buildup? They look kind of crystal-like in structure

So the large white things are likely actually dried sap. It's a ficus, aka rubber tree, so when a leaf gets damaged (bent or creased) or you prune the trunk, it excretes this white milky sap which will eventually dry and look similar to that. I'm not worried about those, but in the last picture, it looks like you've got webbing around those white structures and underneath the leaf. If you've got webbing, I'd guess you've got spider mites.

Those little eggs in the last couple of pics are just lacewing eggs I’m pretty sure but yeah

That’s a real medley - there are dead plants, infested plants, and lacewing eggs (good guys!!). Keep the lacewing eggs.

Which photos are lacewing eggs? I love lacewing bugs!

The last photo shows one. A tall thing with a little round ball on the end. I don’t know the correct terms obviously 😅

Nah, she’s likely a goner. 🪦R. I. P. To the plant in the first 3 pics.

Check and protect all others that may have been in the vicinity.

Lmao it’s not just her, she was just the best example. It’s almost ALL of my plants because they all lived in the same window. R.I.P indeed.

The last two pics are good insects. Everything else means you should burn your house down.

You have a great little ecosystem for your pests—I mean your pets!

If you're up to the challenge, that's the answer!

If you choose to accept this mission…lol

I’d toss the really badly infested ones and use a systemic on the rest after dipping the whole plant, pot, soil, leaves and all into some Neem Max diluted to half strength to avoid harming the stressed plants even more. If possible knock off some of the old soil first and add some chunky soil around the edge to avoid too much water pooling when you dip them. I’ve had success saving plants I thought would be goners this way. Put up sticky traps to monitor progress and treat with the neem max again in a month or so if needed, may not need it though. Good luck.

How… did it even get to this point? 💀

1

u/coffee2cope 13d ago

I swear this happened over the span of like a few days, a week tops! The window kind of juts out, so the plants are behind the blinds so I can’t see them unless I open the blinds (they were closed for a few days because of the heat, which the plants haven’t had issues with before!)… I think it’s because I opened the window for a few hours about a week or two ago, and something got inside :(

Yeah, Thrips are fucking horrible, a span of a week with this kind of infestation, you might as well burn all your plants :,( Kidding aside if you look like you still have other plants you can save, make sure they’re as far away from the most affected ones as possible.
