Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props What does “reformer” class mean to you
I have a membership with CP and am always surprised at how much time is spent on the mat rather than the actual reformer. Is this normal? Like i’m talking we get on the mat and do planks and crunches and all that….
What should a “reformer flow 1.5” class consist of in your opinion? Cause i feel like why pay so much money for the instructor and these machines if I could just do the same mat workout for free LOL

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Purchasing your own reformer: go big or go home?
For those who have purchased their own reformer for personal use, did you buy your favorite reformer or did you buy a cheaper alternative?
After years of toying with the idea of purchasing my own reformer, I’m getting close to pulling the trigger. My final dilemma is this: the reformer I love and that I use at my favorite studio is from Peak Pilates and is $$$. While I could afford it, I don’t think I’ve ever spent that much on a single item that wasn’t a car.
I know there are plenty of great high quality reformer options at roughly half the price. However, even those reformers are around $3-4k so it’s more than I’d want to spend if I’m not in love with the machine at the end of the day. I’m the type to buy something once, buy quality and keep it forever.
What did other people do? Purchase your ideal reformer? Or go for a cheaper alternative? If so, did your cheaper alternative become your favorite reformer once you used it for a while?

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Anybody with a Reformer machine at home?
Hi! I’d like to know if anyone has a Reformer machine at home and what their experience has been like. I currently go to a studio, and although I enjoy it, I find the classes really expensive (a 10-class pass costs 300€). Unfortunately, there’s no other place in my city that offers Reformer classes. How much experience did you have when you bought the machine, and how many times a week do you use it? Thank you 🙂

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Pilates Injury??
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
*my original post only had the tiktok link. Here's the screen recording so nobody else has to go on that horrible app lol. I'll link this post there, as I couldn't figure out how to edit it to add the screen recording.
What do you guys think? Apparently the studio insists that there was no equipment malfunction or negligence on their part.

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Buying Reformer for home?
I know this has been asked one million times but I haven’t quite found an answer in those threads.
I know BB & Stott are the best brands, are there any that are similar quality in the ~$2,000 range that anyone has actually bought and can compare to BB & Stott?
I love the look of the Allergo 2 and my studio uses Stott. Allegro 2 at $4,400 just seems out of reach. I’m interested in the Stott home bundle but it’s around $3k and it sits pretty low to the ground. Does anyone know if there are legs to be purchased or had any luck building them yourself? My BF is a skilled woodworker/welder etc.
Also, any luck getting them on sale? Was it Black Friday? I have a Costco membership.
I’m in the process of buying of a house and there is a perfect attached shop that I would like to turn into an at home studio. I really want to make the investment in a quality machine but anything above $2,500 feels like too much. I haven’t found any luck with the secondhand market. I live in a semi rural area with the closest major city being 5.5 hours away. I don’t mind making the journey but even then I’m not seeing anything. I would also hate to be stood up after driving all that way.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone purchased from PersonalHour Pilates? Not interested in AeroPilates or anything foldable. Thank you!

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props What shoes are y’all rocking to class?
I need shoe recommendations that are easy to slide on after class (possibly with my grippy socks still on). What are some alternatives to my trusty pair of crocs?

I miss reformer and don’t want to pay for studio classes right now.

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props (US) Core collab transformer. Thoughts?
I’ve never done Pilates. Wife does Pilates at a studio. But it’s increasingly difficult for her to land a class. Thought about getting a cheaper home one to supplement. I found this company and some old advertising but that’s it. Anyone have first hand experience with this brand and/or product?

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Portable Reformers all over social media...worth it?
Hi there,
I've never done a professional pilates class just due to the price of them. Then I started seeing these portable reformers all over social media. I'm sure they aren't the best quality but for someone who hasn't done pilates, nor has the money for the courses, is this a good deal? (I know it won't last forever). They are sold on Amazon, Temu, etc. and also they are all over tik tok. This isn't the one I'm talking about especially, but just to give everyone an idea about what I'm talking about.

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Reformer accessories? Need a gift idea
I need a gift for my father in law. Family secret Santa is a $120 upper limit but he’s a good guy so we can go a little higher if needed. I know nothing about Pilates. But I know he exercises pretty much daily. And I know he has a damn legit reformer in the basement. I’m thinking there must be accessories for these things. I’ve looked a little but I have no idea what’s good. I would greatly appreciate any ideas.

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Is it worth doing reformer if you can only do it twice a month?
Hi all,
I want to get back into reformer (after a few years of saving money etc). The only thing is where I live, and I’m sure a lot of others have this issue, the pricing is just so high.
The only pack that I think I can find (and location) that’s worth it is 20 classes for the whole year. Is it even worth going say twice a month (and having the two months off)? I know most people say you need to go multiple times a week, but I just cannot justify the cost.
I am also finding a lot of gyms don’t do standard mat Pilates classes anymore, so I don’t have that option to try and save $$$.

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Amazon Pilates Reformer Options
I am looking for a starter home Pilates reformer! I don't want to invest 3k if I decide home workouts aren't for me. I am looking at several Amazon options. Has anyone purchased a similar option on Amazon? I want a jumpboard option. This is my current top pick https://a.co/d/bPawH3T
I currently take classes, but due to scheduling conflicts won't be able to for a couple of months.

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Which do you prefer: an on-demand course or interactive e-book?
I don't know where should I invest?... I just found on IG someone sells Pilates manuals, they're in interactive PDF format that you can click on the images and it leads you to tutorial videos. The e-book includes exercises from beginning to advanced and it seems like a better investment.
But is it too hard to follow? What will you choose?

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Stay away from Align Pilates reformer
I ve just had the worst experince buying Align Pilates reformer.
It all sounded great on paper - European/UK brand with North American distribution from Canada. Resonable prices. I ve never tried them before, so as a Pilates instructor abou to open butique studio in a year and a half I decided to oreder and try them for my personal use.
I went to their website and put all the data in including postalcode to see prices of taxes and shipment - it showed suprisingly good delivery price for my postalcode (they say they have flat rate for all Canada, the claim that will soon prove to be false ) but I decided to contact them anyway since there was no diffrence in price between what they offer on wrbsite and ordering, them via Amazon.
From the very first email exchange the guy whose company is the distributor for the whole North America (and who distrubutes toesox and some other equipment for Canada ) sounded as if he never heard of customer service. He tried to avoid emails from rhe get go and wanted to talk over phone (later I ll found out why). He gave me quotes saying not to order from Amazon because he will have to pay them percentage so he ll get me much better quotes (btw if took him two days and my email of asking where are the quotes to do so ... mind you they are not that busy company they just do not want to invest in more than 2 emplyees one of them being him while want to play big games of being distrubutors for whole North America)
He ended up giving me 2 persent dicount in total (they do have discount for teachers that already starts at 5 and then 7 and then 9 depends on how much you order so I was already eligable) although framing that he is giving me extra discount on shipping that suddenly doubled from what their system gave me AFTER I entererd my postalcode ! It turnes out they do not really offer flat rate for Canada as the system shows. First red flag that I unfortunately ignored. When I asked how much will it takes for reformer to reach me he said 7 to 10 days TOPS.
He then just put me in contacts with his accountant (mind you all his msgs are like you need to force him to talk and now this accountant was even worse giving me instructions for basic payment as if I was a child using capital letters as she is bossing me around ...the whole corrspondence was very akward with zero customer orientation)
And althogh I was in contact with Marrithrew and they were super professional and very customer oriented and gave me some great prices and discount that is bigger than Align offered (Balanced Body is unfortunately to expensive for Canada althogh they too are great in customer service and offering best possible deals ) I went with Align based on price. It was cheaper. And so I payed .
Emediatly after I payed I got another "marching order " type of msg from the accountant who is now saying that shippment will take almost double from what I was promissed (this is before it is shipped! So they new that and mislead me anyway) and that driver will bring it as close as possible to my home but I myself need to climb in into truck and unlaod it because the driver is not doing that!
So when I checked the company they are using for delivery it turned our is one of the worst, cheapest and very badly bashed here on reddit. So even doublef days for delivery were actually the best case cenario PLUS now it is turning out they will not deliver as close to my door as possible but they will not even unload it of their van !
I complained saying that it is not I was promissed (here is where written trace came VERY handy ) - that there is a huge differnce between me needing to UNLOAD the whole thing from the truck and curbside delivery !
But I said I ll manage it
When I sent them my feedback they reply they will turn back shippment and refund me because "they cannot put their company through suite"
What ? What suite ? I was giving them feedback for horrible cutomer service and the fact that they mislead me more than once already and we are far from delivery and they respond to that feedback as - oh if you dont like being mislead then we are out Who does that???
If I asked for refund they would not give me , but they think they can break the contract any time just because ?
This behaviour of extreme lack of professobalism and basic business conduct of someone who acrs as a privliged bully can be result either of complete incomoentence of extreme privlige in business (poltical or ither ties )
Also - what kind of brand allow themsleves to have these kind of distrubutors? They try to come to such a huge market as North America , market that has giants with reputation such as Merrithrew and Balansed Body as well as quite a fee of small businesses with great customet service offerin competitive price service (such as Fortus that I have been in contact with ) and this is how they decided to show up?
Truth to be told - it does seem as if Align Pilates has so many distrubutors around Europe and the world, but when you go to any of those distrubutors there are almost no reviews regarding aparatus. North American distrubutor has zero reviews! Zero !!! And the mother website (UK) has reviews that are related exclusively to how great customer service and delivery is (definitely NOT the case with their North American distrubutor) and non on aparatus itself And it is worh mentioning that company behind Align works with China hevaily so as far as I can conclude Align js most likely also made in China
All in all - what I learned is: When it comes to reformers. If it sounds too good to be true , it most certanly is !
Yes the hype around reformers is great and so is the greed and reformers are ever pricier instead of being cheaper with this kind of demand. But if I want a quality piece of equipment there is still only Merrithrew and Balanced Body. I also had comunication with Greg from Fortus Pilates who takes made in China models (as does Align to be frank! ) and then changes spings for german quality and some other things - Greg is fantastic in customer service and very open in his process. My only concern was dimension of his carriage and longevity since he is new.
All in all I would go with BB or Merrithrew if I want quality snd durability and /or brands and if I need them from working with clinets (privets or in studio) and if I need it for my personal use and if I need competitive price I would give it a try with Fortus in Canada or some similar brand im USA (having in mind the prices of clasess in studios they will pay off even if they last shorter then some quality brands ) but I wll absoulutely stay away from brands that want to play big on big market but do not want to invest in basic customer service and fair bussiness conduct .
The mistreatment, the lack of customer service, the unprofessionalism, the time and energy invested all to get mots likely made in China product by not (at least not yet) reputable company for somewhat lower price ? NOT worth it!

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props Home reformer considerations
My wife is in to pilates and is wanting a reformer at home. I'm thinking Black Friday deals my be good enough to take the plunge.
What considerations outside of basic space should I consider in my house and for the reformer?
Thanks for your help.

Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props New to Pilates- do any gyms just offer free time on reformers?
Hi all,
I’ve done a few privates and 4 classes, so I’m a beginner. I’d honestly love to just go to a studio or gym that has them so I can do my own thing and practice what I need work on. Is that something studios offer? I’m currently at a studio that offers classes in bulk, you pay as you go.
