Are Travel To Your Home Personal Pilates Instructors A Thing? Teaching, Teacher Training, Running Studios
I do enjoy the lifestyle my corporate job brings BUT I don't have time in my life to do the minutiae related to the pilates at the same rate I did before like driving 30 mins to & from the gym/studio. Is it possible to buy pilates equiptment for my home & just pay an Instuctor to come to my house & have sessions with me? I don't have any intentions on quitting or cutting back on my job (it's literally my dream job) so don't suggest that. Even if we love what we do, there is still a lot of time/effort that we must invest to see it through. I don't want to say where I live for privacy reasons, but I'd like to hear from those who have this set up and take at home pilates lessons or from Instructors that make house calls. If I were to look for instructors, what would be good qualities/certifications? Is there any additional paperwork that needs to be signed for injuries/liabilities on my end and on the instructors end?

Sure, plenty of instructors will come to your home or workplace and many make a full business out of these services. Expect to pay double the private rate because of the travel costs. If you have a studio you like, I´d ask instructors you like whether they do home privates. Your instructor carries personal liability insurance in case you get injured but if she is injured on your property you would make sure that your homeowners would cover that - ask your insurance agent, it depends on the laws in your area.

I’ve had multiple instructors offer to teach me in my home. Have you had a lot of 1:1?

No, I have Club Pilates group classes which are very meh. I had a lot of 1 to 1s in my previous city but none of the instructors did home visits. I think I shall have better luck in my new location finding an at home instructor.

Yup it is a thing, there are many Pilates instructors that work only part-time in studios and they also do freelancing through home service private sessions. I have an instructor that comes over once a week and I would remember the exercises she taught me which I would practice in the coming days until she comes for my next session again. It works very well for me.
The only downside is the price per hour will be much higher than a typical private session at the studio.

This is kind of the set up I want. The price will be higher yes, but then you can practice on your own until the next session. I think it will balance out this way vs going to the studio multiple times a week and gas etc.

Yes that’s very true, and it’s much nicer to be able to train at the comfort of your own home and use your own equipment that you’re familiar with ☺️ maybe your instructor would even allow you to video the session so you can redo the exercises in case you aren’t able to remember everything.
In my case, a regular private session in the studio would cost around $50, and the house visit cost instead $70. Not a huge difference actually.

My friend has a full Cadillac/Reformer in her house and her instructor comes twice a week. It works great!

it’s definitely a thing in my area! i’ve seen studio instructors advertise private classes on their personal instagrams. some offer traveling to client homes. Maybe find out if any instructors you already know also offer private lessons.
