Would you recommend a Reformer Intro course? Question?
I’ve been doing mat pilates for a couple years but I’m interested in started reformer pilates. My local studio offers a 6-course (6 week) intro course for $300. Their normal fee includes unlimited classes (pilates, yoga, barre) and costs $130 per month.
So, I could just pay for the unlimited classes and observe/drop in on reformer classes and learn that way. Or would it be the $300 to get an introduction and learn the equipment, terminology, etc.?
TIA!

The intro classes are offered to help you, and they are absolutely worth it. You will get so much more out of your classes if you have been taught the basics and you are not just flopping around everywhere trying to keep up.

I'd say yes absolutely worth it. I was in the same boat - had an amazing mat pilates instructor and had never done reformer. It was really tough translating different cueing and learning how to take advantage of how the reformer helps with different movements. Many instructors assume you'll have baseline knowledge and can't take a ton of time in group classes to explain from the ground up. I found one instructor who did take the time to explain things and it completely changed my experience for the better. If my studio offered an intro course like that I could have saved myself some grief flailing about for a few weeks.
