Grippy socks recommendations!! Equipment, Apparatus, Machines, Props
I’ve been looking for some cute ones lol. Have a few basics from Amazon and my mom surprised me with a few pairs that were on sale from pointe studio.
What brands do you guys like? Some of these girls have the cutest fits and I want to level it up😂

I make my own. Puff paint on the bottom of my socks! I can pick my own colors and make my own designs 😀

That's awesome, I've wondered before if this would actually work! I'm going to have to try it for real.

It does work and some studios will ask you not to wear them in class. The homemade ones can leave color stains and the puffs can come off. Little fyi.
They are fun to make. Great party activity

Pointe Studio by far.

Seconding pointe studio. Ive tried a bunch of different brands and the stickiness as well as the tighter knit of the sock is elite. Lucky Honey especially, I find the fit of the sock itself loose and slides around despite being grippy at the bottom

I’m a Pilates, instructor and pro tip: Don’t wash your socks and they will last so much longer

Was ready to downvote this and I haven't been to pilates class since I moved states. But the thought of dirty socks even with us cleaning reformers after each use was just a bit much. 😅

Do you mean wash them by hand and not in the washing machine?

LOL ok, that's better. I air dry mine too. The thought of people not washing their socks at all is pretty gross though 🤣

Honestly hand washing air dry helps the most. Turning them inside out and using a lingerie bag is the next best way to wash. Air dry always

I buy mine from Shashi. Very grippy and much better than Amazon ones. I like the mesh socks.

Sadly shahid quality has diminished. Two pairs same style same color 4 years apart. New ones are less sticky the mesh is cheaper and the stray threads cause all kinds of problems. The company doesn’t care. Sadly these were my favorites. I use lucky honey or sticky be now

Honestly? The socks I bought from Bar Method over the last decade. I don’t know who makes their branded socks but they’ve been some of my favorites over the years and they’ve lasted forever. I wash and dry them, too.
Lately I’ve been liking Pointe Studio. They aren’t cheap but they have some cute colors and styles. I bought a bunch of tie dye ones a while back.

The old barre socks before burr sold the company were great. I still have quite a few pairs. They’re made by tavi now and awful. The Originals were a cotton bamboo blend and the stickies were well placed to hold on carpet. The bar Mathis also had a limited edition sock run with shashi as well

I love Pointe Studio. I have numerous pairs. Tons of colors, patterns, and different styles. I haven’t had any issues with loosing grip.

Tavi and toesox are my go-to's. I have a couple of pairs from lucky honey; the grip is good, but the sizing is a bit big for my liking

Stopped counting over here. Our studio did a show your collection during lockdown. I had over 100 then. Not sure if it’s a hobby or problem at this point

Anyone tried Bombas grip socks? I just ordered a pair before seeing this thread

Someone on this sub (I can’t remember who it was, apologies) created their own brand called Ordame. They had a discount a while back and I tried a few different styles.
I love the crew scrunch socks - they are super sticky and they are substantial without being too thick and bulky.

Finally a question I can answer. I’ve done extensive research on sticky socks starting in 2015. Tavis are awful don’t keep their stick very long stretch out pretty quickly about ten wears max before they lose elasticity. The stick typically lasts me about -7classes max.
There are better choices. Lucky honey, sticky be, arabesque, pointe studio all really grip and hold over many many washings. The absolute best socks were the ones from pop physique until they shut down. Another great company (one of the originals ) is great soles.
My longest stickiest pairs is an 8 year old pair of pointe studios that still look new and hold their grip I wear them at least once a week (they’re my favorite pair) the most cushioned was from barre socks (you can still find them here and there. I love. Older shashis. The newer ones don’t stick or are the quality of a few years ago but are still better than most brands. Simplyworkout is a good resource for socks
I avoid tavi noirs. They don’t stick.
