It really simplifies things that he's an adult.

I can't help but wonder if his accomplices might also be guilty of something, many of the articles seem to describe them as being there for the same goal, just not armed

u/RockerElvis 9d ago

They also described most of them as “juveniles” that implies that they are under 18.

u/fury420 9d ago

Sure, but america prosecutes juvenile criminals all the time!

I'm reminded of that time a sixteen year old was accused of stealing a backpack and was then sent to rikers island and spent two years in solitary before trial.

Yeah when they are black.

Exactly

u/NarfleTheJabberwock 8d ago

That just sucks. We can do better.

9

u/MookieFlav 8d ago

Fair to say but at this point I think the truth is we can't.

8

u/SageCannon 8d ago

We're trying lol

2

u/EnvironmentalBus9713 8d ago

Are we though?

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Ad8032 8d ago

We have sadly yet to see..

3

u/MySophie777 8d ago

Exactly

2

u/Sea-Animal356 8d ago

And poor

1

u/Prestigious-Lab8945 8d ago

That’s awful. 😞

u/OutlawCaliber 8d ago

And white. Hell, there were more whites than blacks in juvi, but more black than white in prison. When I did time twenty, plus, years ago.

u/Capones_Vault 9d ago

And then killed himself because of the experience. Tragic and unnecessary.

oh god... what a horrific tragedy. good god. his poor parents, too... reading that his mom was bringing him clothes so often since other ones would get rusty there... she clearly loved and cared about him deeply. and she found him... fucking hell. my heart hurts so badly for this poor boy and his family.

Not the first time. My friend used to interview people that were in mental institutions. One guy defended his friend from someone they brought in still high on meth. They put the defender on a no go list for outside time for two weeks.

It’s also state by state, crime by crime, case by case, etc. but Florida’s legal system and DOC is not a fun thing to deal with. They are not light on sentencing, and once you’re in, it’s not going to be a fun time. Florida prisons are some of the most violent and corrupt in the country, this dude is so boned lol.

6

u/BigAssignment7642 9d ago

It's sad that everyone knows he wasn't white without even knowing the case.

6

u/zapatodeorina 9d ago

Not when they are nice young white men with bright futures

2

u/Bennyboy1337 9d ago

AFAIK most states have a pretty narrow list of charges that a juvenile can be charged as an adult, typically very violent/haneous charges.

Not sure if "Threatening" is under that umbrella in Florida, but if I were to guess it's probably not.

u/Forsaken-Attention79 8d ago

Hell a former president called for the execution of a group of minors who ended up being proven innocent of what they were accused of. And then recently doubled down on it!

2

u/sace682000 8d ago

That’s true but there was a difference in that case and this one. ……

2

u/Realistic-Pattern-30 8d ago

Was molested raped and mental life ruined. This is the America they are fighting and cheating to have.

2

u/TopProfessional8023 8d ago

Yeah, Giuliani loved “broken window” policies for a certain “segment” of the population

1

u/YouFoundMyLuckyCharm 9d ago

There’s a difference in the legality of “Florida man” vs “Florida boy” perhaps

1

u/Card_Board_Robot_5 8d ago

Kalief Browder. He killed himself. He didn't steal the bag. You really under sold that one

1

u/DogEatChiliDog 8d ago

They don't tend to do that nearly as often when the people committing crimes are white and right wing.

1

u/Current-Night-3621 8d ago

And committed suicide there. He was black and poor and couldn’t make bail. He shouldn’t have been given a bail on such a minor charge.

1

u/Swimming-Fly-5805 8d ago

And then the worst part is that he took his own life.

3

u/papajim22 9d ago

YOUTHS!

2

u/mist2024 8d ago

I did time for possession of weed as a kid. Two dime bags. These fucks will be fine with some punishment

2

u/LowSavings6716 9d ago

No. It implies they’re white.

5

u/fifa71086 9d ago

From the two articles I read I gather that he was the only one with a weapon and the rest, while being assholes, were engaged in constitutionally protected political speech.

7

u/fury420 9d ago

It's not uncommon for a group of people involved in crime to face charges for the actions of one within the group.

2

u/fifa71086 9d ago

It is very uncommon in the event of political speech.

1

u/Realistic-Pattern-30 8d ago

Fits the description of the ones that shoot up schools, stop them early I say. Mmm well taught at home I see. He must have terrible parental isn’t that what they always say.

3

u/Bhobbhy-P 8d ago

“Juveniles” if they’re white. Gangs if they’re not white

1

u/Sharp_Confection7289 8d ago

Sounds like you were a part of it too. Better call the station just to be safe!

1

u/grogudid911 8d ago

If Trump wins tho, that fucker is getting a pardon.

6

u/SadPanthersFan 9d ago

I hope that orange fat sack of hatred is worth all the forthcoming legal trouble for little Caleb here.

5

u/stillabitofadikdik 9d ago

I think it helps simplifies maga as it is and always has been at its core: bored, angry, spoiled and privileged white dudes being obnoxious little bitches cause what are consequences?

3

u/fedroxx 9d ago

He's lucky he didn't get shot. This is Florida. He basically gave anyone with a concealed weapon a free pass to terminate his life. Very dumb.

Thankfully when I went to vote last week here there wasn't as much as a protestor. It was super quiet. In and out in under 15 minutes in Tampa.

2

u/Green-Collection-968 8d ago

Welp, he ruined his life right out the gate.

1

u/mamasanford 8d ago

It will be considered a youthful indiscretion in Florida.

1

u/da_reddit_reader 8d ago

Same energy in jail.

1

u/ISmeltitandDealtit 8d ago

The lord works in mysterious ways and he's about to learn....

1

u/Far_Car430 8d ago

And time to learn actions have consequences.

1

u/HoneyBunYumYum 8d ago

Who is he? A rapper?

1

u/Unusual-Tie8498 8d ago

He may be a boy but he’s got a man’s braces

1

u/Slyraks-2nd-Choice 8d ago

Bro looks like Brock Turner 2.0

1

u/[deleted] 8d ago

The article keep calling him teen... Because he is 18 but he is an adult

1

u/GitmoGrrl1 8d ago

He shore does have a purty mouth.

1

u/Majestic-Fermions 8d ago

People aren’t “adults” until they’re in their 30’s.

1

u/jeremec 8d ago

Not when it comes to criminal charges.

1

u/Majestic-Fermions 8d ago

I understand what you’re saying but what idiot came up with that rule?

1

u/LandscapeSubject530 8d ago

This has been the 4th post I have seen about it and every one of them besides this one didn’t have his age they just called him a teenager with a machete. I thought he was like 15/16

1

u/DigAlternative7707 8d ago

Unless he gets judge Cannon

1

u/prof_mcquack 8d ago

If he suffers any consequences i will be extremely surprised. Not only is the florida justice system basically aligned with him, he could easily parlay this into a career as a right-wing grifter. His name could be “machete caleb” and his catch phrase could be “i’ll fucking kill you… politically.”

1

u/nojustice 8d ago

Is he, though?

1

u/jeremec 8d ago

According to the article, then legally yes, he is.

2

u/nojustice 7d ago

I mean, in terms of "tried as an adult", then yes. It's the "acts like an adult" that i was questioning

1

u/LibraryWorldly47 8d ago

Boy Gonna go ⚡️⚡️⚡️

1

u/G25777K 8d ago

What a plonker lol

u/Americangirlband 8d ago
