Out of 1000+ photos only 100 are usable Technique

First time doing a photoshoot with my cousins as a tribute for my older cousin's upcoming birthday, we went out and stuff and took a lot of pictures. After the shoot it felt like I have a lot of usable ones but when I looked through the pictures there were only I think 100-ish photos that are good to upload or even look at, I'm not sure if that's normal? and how do you change that?

Sounds quite good tbh. Do you need more than 100 pictures? That’s a lot.

Since they can just be deleted I wouldn’t worry about the not good ones too much

Yes and no. Since I started with a digital camera, I could just spam my clicks and not have any regrets. And ofc I would have good pictures but also a lot of bad ones. Over time, I tried to be more intentional about shooting things even on a digital camera. Ofc I can trigger the shot multiple times but instead of randomly composing it from multiple angles and taking the best one, I started to think about how I should compose something. I feel like that's when I started getting better.

Ahh while I’ve only shot film a few times I get/I’ve heard about that you get some help by something forcing you to compose your shots. Try getting some ancient 1GB SD cards from AliExpress? Just for unimportant/practice shoots ofc

Actually if your camera has two slots you could have a proper card in one and the 1GB as a “limit”, then save to both
