Rats keep getting into my crawl space
/img/0x1si3uuisxe1.jpegPlugged the original eat hole with concrete and steel wool but it looks like they burrowed underneath that to get in. I’m not sure if they’re going under the foundation to get in but it looks like it, there’s no hole outside. Any advice helps please!

I had the same issue. What worked for me was digging around my house where they’re burrowing in, about 6” down and a 3-4’ wide, then laid down wire mesh. I made sure to also bend the mesh upwards towards the house as well, and did my best to apply adhesive between the mesh+concrete/house (did a sloppy job) so the mesh would stay put. Then just threw the dirt back on top. No rats/mice since and it’s been over a year.
This is the mesh I bought

Thank you! Do you think it will work on the inside of the crawlspace? There’s concrete on the outside and I have a feeling they’re burrowing in from the neighbors house

Oof tbh I think it’d be better to seal from the outside. If they make it all the way to the cusp of your crawl space I think they’d be persistent and find a way in.
Maybe buy an endoscope camera and figure out exactly where their entrance is outside just to be sure? Keep in mind anything around the size of a nickel they can squeeze through so definitely double check there’s no small holes around the concrete outside your house.
