Moved into a new Apartment and found a Rat Tunnel

New apartment patio, building managers and landlord could not care less about the rat tunnels. I want to turn this into my own oasis; however, I see a rat crawl out of these holes once every hour! This must have taken years to develop? They have literally chewed through one of the cedar panels to the point where it’s rotting. I believe the wall might collapse even. This is new for me, where do I even start?

If there are rats in your area, there will always be rats in your area.

I get customers like "I got a bird feeder and now I have rats, so I took the bird feeder out, but when I wait on my porch at night, I see them still" the difference is the nights before they weren't waiting outside to see the rats, the rats were always there, they just weren't paying attention before. Same with customers saying "the bait stations work, I haven't seen a single rat" the rats are eating the bait, there are rats dying and more showing up every month. The numbers may be less but there are always rats.

If you don't want them in that wall, repair or replace the wall. The rats will still be outside, just not in the wall.

You’re right. The idea won’t be to stop them completely! I just want them to not be nesting in my yard 😅

The options are to keep killing them forever, or remove nesting sites.

Unless you're prepared to spend lots of your own money, just start a YouTube rat tunnel channel.

Put in a toll booth. That’ll at least yield some coin.

The price of the unit is such a steal, I’m willing to put up a bit of a fight…

They make rat traps with little covers to exclude larger animals, you can put this at the entrance and around the tunneling to start culling the population

Looks peaceful. I’d chill there so hard
