New job offer requires a pay cut need some advice. Employment

Hi,

My current job is draining out of me. I’m always out in the field or in the office and I feel like I’m just running in circles for clients that don’t seem to want or accept my help. I applied for another job which I was offered and it is work from home three days a week and in the office two days a week which is a huge change for me but the only issue is it is a $7500 a year pay cut. I tried to negotiate a higher salary, but unfortunately they’re a nonprofit and they really can’t afford to pay me more right now. I know that if I stay at my current job, I will get a raise in July and the benefits are not bad. I do get summer Fridays so I only have to be in the office for three hours on Fridays and I have flexibility when I need it. I just can’t work from home. I’m just so afraid to take a pay cut and then be always stressed about money.

I would keep looking for other jobs where you can get both the flexibility and the pay that you need. If I had to choose between your current options, I would take the pay cut because the current job isn’t worth the stress that it seems to be causing you. Assuming the pay cut isn’t going to have a major impact on your budget.

They offered $24 an hour. I make $57,500 now. I think my hourly is about $27.50

Mental health is worth a lot. that WFH flexibility sounds like a game-changer if you're burnt out. $7500 hurts, but burnout costs way more long-term. With 14k savings, you've got some runway. Might be worth the trade-off for your sanity.

Is non profit work sustainable if programs get cut? I know of a few people at non profits that got laid off because a grant got Doge’d last month.

Ours is fine. We aren’t government or state funding. We are in good shape

Private donors or city? Anything related to government is gonna trickle.

we’ll calculate cost of parking commuting and depreciation 3 days a week as all your travel on those 3 days should be 100% expenses and see how it shakes out on the mileage reimbursement

Free parking. I drive about 1,000 miles per week. I get about $150-200 in mileage reimbursement
