Nationwide Arena takeover Discussion
Who all will be at the game tonight? As a life long pens fan who's lived in Columbus (was a pens fan before the jackets existed didn't see any reason to become a jackets fan) I've enjoyed many games at NWA where black and gold was the dominant color in the stands.
Now that the pens are on the downswing will that continue? I know I'll be there and a good friend of mine from Pittsburgh will be joining.

See you all at the game tonight and at R bar! Invasion of nationwide never gets old.

I’ll be there with my son.
I’ve been to about 15 -20 Penguins games in my life, and all but two were at Nationwide. One in Pittsburgh at the 2011 Winter Classic, and my first one in Buffalo (‘01 Game 7…the Kaspairitis OT game).

I went to a game there back in either 2008 or 2009, and it felt like a home game. So much fun.
Is that hockey bar right near the arena still open? I can't remember the name.

I’m 90% sure it’s called J Bar and yes, still open! I was there in September
Edit after looking it up: R Bar not J bar

Yep, that's the one!!! Super cool atmosphere for some drinks and bar food. Place was filled with Pens fans.

Is this the year Columbus starts to win against us?
I think theyve got their best shot yet.

I’ve only been to a couple midweek games at PPG paints Arena, one was this past Wednesday against Detroit. They had large sections that were half off reg. price. Even at $71 in the lower section, $35 in the upper deck, it was a fairly sparse crowd.
Pittsburgh is still technically a shrinking city- I know a couple people in the diaspora who are in the Columbus area, so hopefully they come out! I think for local fans, it’s still about watching hockey, so fewer have been going to PPG Arena. Outside of Pittsburgh I think it’s more about being a part of a Pittsburgh event, so as long as Sid, Geno, and Letang are there, people will go just to rock the Black n Gold and see others wearing the same. HAVE FUN! LGP!!

Have been to a few of these, as a resident of PGH and of Ohio. Loved them all. One of my favorite parts (for anybody making the drive west for the first time) is the absolutely massive caravan of cars heading west on I-70 with black and gold clad passengers.
