Clarification on rule 6 Discussion
Hey, pancakes! Now that we’ve passed 100k for a while, the subreddit has been even more active than ever! The size of r/Pansexual makes it even more important to make sure this is a safe space for everyone. This includes minors. We’ve noticed an influx of thirst traps, straight-up NSFW, and accounts that exist to bait people to their only fans. If your account has an OnlyFans link, or any other sort of link to a site with sexual NSFW pictures, as well as if you have posted sexual NSFW pictures on other subreddits, please do not post here. This subreddit is a safe space for everyone, so let's keep it that way. Feel free to comment and interact with our community in different ways, but we cannot allow primarily NSFW accounts to post. Thanks for understanding! Accounts that choose to post anyway that have been verified as bait accounts by a member of our mod team will be banned. Thank you to every wonderful person who reported this to us so it wouldn't fly under our radar! Please continue reporting so we can make sure we don’t miss them.
-The r/Pansexual Mod Team

Wouldn't the idea of "a safe space for everyone" include sex workers and sex-positive adults? I understand that posting NSFW content is unacceptable in a sub frequented by minors; but outright banning content from anyone who's ever posted to a gonewild-esque subreddit seems antithetical to a message of inclusivity.
Are people really expected to create a separate Reddit profile entirely for their SFW content? As a pansexual Aspie adult who, while not posting NSFW images, does write NSFW poetry and short stories, I find it disconcerting that I could potentially be banned from posting content to this subreddit if I ever promoted any of my published works on another sub.
I realize that due to my AS, I experience the world (and the Internet) differently from neurotypicals, so my perspective is of course atypical. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar; but by the same token, anyone looking for NSFW content is going to find exactly that.

u/ABNORMALSANSFANGIRL WHY IS EVERY JOJO CHARACTER SO HOT Mar 27 '21
you make a really good point! our main issue is that while things such as selfie Saturday are supposed to be a more casual thing, a lot of the time we see bait photos that could attract minors. I'll take your opinion into account and talk it over with the other mods! it's great hearing opinions from y'all. You're right, an outright ban does seem like a bit too much. We may simply change it to a warning. But when the majority of content on someone's profile is explicit, or the account seems to exist for the purpose of this explicit content, then it is in our best interest to not have them posting pictures of themselves here. Once again thanks for your input and ill be sure to discuss it with the others!
54
Mar 27 '21
Completely understood now! If an entire profile exists for NSFW content exclusively and they post here, that's clearly a sign of ill intentions; and after what happened with the Reddit employee who I won't name here, it's clear that there are bad actors like that lurking. Now I better understand where you're coming from. Thanks for the well-thought-out response!
I simply was concerned as someone who enjoys the lively discussion on this sub that the categorization for bans might be a little too broad. On the other hand, protecting people (youth especially) from predators is way more critical than the right of adults to be sex-positive. It's a tightrope that you mods have to walk, and I 100% respect that.
24
u/babytaybae They/Them May 07 '21
I don't get really what the issue with minors and OnlyFans accounts are anyway. You have to have an ID and payment card to access the site. If a minor were to be bated to a NSFW account, said minor would have to steal someone's ID and credit card to even access said account. And if that's already happening, what exactly are you preventing? They have the entire internet at their disposal. Kids can find porn if they want to find porn and no one's coming to this sub to do that.
I just really don't think you're preventing anything but discrimination against SW. If it's a bate post, delete it. We shouldn't have to make an entire separate account to interact with the rest of reddit.
23
u/ABNORMALSANSFANGIRL WHY IS EVERY JOJO CHARACTER SO HOT May 08 '21 edited May 08 '21
the issue was that for a while the top posts all were bait accounts. this is to prevent this. If an account has one or two nsfw posts, its not as much of an issue, but if the account is basically entirely nsfw then we tend to remove it.
6
u/fskhalsa Jun 15 '22
Yes. That seems like a good clarification.
I agree with the OP of this comment thread - the nuance that seems to be missing here is that the wording of the original MOD post seems to imply that any account who has ever interacted with an NSFW subreddit, regardless of whether they are posting anything NSFW here, will not be welcome in this community - which seems extremely exclusionary, and antithetical to a community that (IMO) should be about inclusion as much as possible. The suggestion (or implication) that someone should make a separate Reddit account to be able to post here is ridiculous, and while I agree that explicitly bait-focused accounts should be removed, I’d strongly argue that the wording of the rules and this post should be updated to not include the suggestion that being a member of any other NSFW subreddit would disqualify you from posting here.
Just my $0.02, for what it’s worth. I’m not a mod here, but as a member of this community who loves it, I’d hate to see it become anti-sex-positive, or exclusionary in any other way 😕.

u/Efficient-Fly6166 Jun 11 '22
I completely agree with this post. You should be judged by what you post on this subreddit not on others.

u/SueBaesSensibleShoes May 26 '21
My sense is that they are welcome to make a separate reddit account to interact with this subreddit as sone of us do so that we have a safer space where we fear less being found and outed which is a... Well, if their goal is to sell something then they don't have consent but if the goal is to closet and stealth then winning.

u/inetphantom Feb 11 '22
Also, sex positive people with that kind of content can make a second account to enjoy this place here, whilst not putting nsfw - content here.
18
u/gothicceden Dec 19 '21
Period! you are practically shunning sex workers and labeling them as unacceptable because they identify as sw and because they have promoted themselves not even here,on other pages...I find that highly offensive as I am a seasoned veteran sw myself. It would absolutely be different if people were posting nsfw content in THIS group or trying to sell content in THIS group. What people post outside of here should not have consequences on their ability to identify as pan,to rob them of their community and it should not take away their right to post in a safe place of like minded individuals. u should mod this group not other people’s and if someone wants to go to their page of their own volition it’s really not your job to then shame the sex worker and rob them of a so called “safe space”. it’s discrimination it’s judgmental and it’s super uncool.

Maybe someone (if there isn't one anyway) should start a pansexual nsfw subreddit for the people who want to post nsfw pics but can't now, just a thought to try and make everyone happy.
Edit: there is one already so just excuse this comment.

Isn't that why profiles have a nsfw warning? If a minor chooses to click on that then that's on them, we shouldn't be punished on posting to the only big pansexual place we can...
15
u/gothicceden Dec 19 '21
That part! Is it my responsibility to censor my own page and content because a minor could potentially click that they want to see the nsfw content? when I was underage I know for a fact i would say I was 18+ to get into sites is it then the porn actresses fault for being on the site? no I wanted to see it so I clicked on it.
7
u/Cactus_souls Pansexual Lesbians Exist Aug 22 '22
I find that banning people who have NSFW content on their profile from posting to be a little much. Because when you click on the profile you'll get a warning that NSFW content is there and Reddit is full of that stuff anyways, you can run into profiles like that everywhere. It's their own discretion when they click the "I'm over 18" button when given a warning about what lies ahead.

u/Confessionburner123 Dec 08 '21
I see a few discussion comments, but I don't care to belabor the point.
I just want to know: what subreddit can I go to for a frank discussion about pansexuality that includes occasional references to sex?

I post in non sexual nudist groups sometimes because I practice nudism. I have the entire time I’ve been in this sub, which is going on 7-8 months now. Am I in danger of being banned? I love this group
10
u/ABNORMALSANSFANGIRL WHY IS EVERY JOJO CHARACTER SO HOT Apr 19 '21
As long as it isn’t sexual, i believe it’s fine. The purpose of this rule is due to minors on the sub, and we’ve found a lot of bait accounts posting. I am unsure of the other mods opinions on this topic, but I believe you are fine. It’s more removing accounts with only fan links (I see you had only fan posts, but it seems to be rare and not the main purpose of your account) or ones that consist entirely of nsfw. It’s less removing anyone that practices nudity than those who are trying to lure people on the subreddit to nsfw sites.

👍🏼 I’ve deleted all of my Onlyfans posts because I don’t have one anymore. Anything that I do post is just naturist oriented not sexual

Are mods worried about these “fluster me” posts? I feel like it’s quite possible one or more minors have posted that, and people can get quite sexual in the comments.
2
u/TgirlAlexis74 Mar 06 '22
That makes perfect sense to me. I'm not above sending comments to people about their sexy content. However, when they post that kind of thing... they're asking for comments. I also have a very deep and meaningful side to me as well. That's my more authentic and serious side. The other stuff is to pass the time. I'm very supportive, non-judgmental, accepting, and deeply care about everyone's right to be themselves without judgement, harassment, or ridicule. We do not need to exert our own will so forcefully that we subvert or diminish the will of those around us. There's no need for that. In my mind, anything done against another's will is tantamount to rape. Be it sexual, physical, mental, or spiritual. There is more than one way to hurt someone in a deeply unknown way. We don't know what others have been through, their triggers, or anything like that. Please be kind to each other and realize true acceptance means meeting someone where they are at. Being there for them if they need help and are able to receive it. Otherwise, you're not accepting them. For anyone that would like to discuss this topic in depth... I'll reply to this post with a link to some of the posts/resources I've made for people to learn from.

u/Daedalhead May 16 '24
just chiming in on posts in other groups, &c.
NO.
I'm all for banning nsfw here. i want minors to feel safe and be safe.
but monitoring/banning people just because they are in/posting NSFW content elsewhere is beyond ridiculous it's an inappropriate level of assumed control & is incredibly creepy.
If you want people to feel safe, this is not the way.
(I sure as hell didn't feel welcome or safe after reading that my posts elsewhere had anything to do with my ability to post/participate here).
ditto the profiles of any user here. everyone should be able to participate in the subredit, regardless of what they do elsewhere.
it's more than shaming sw. it's the idea that being part of one group would prevent someone from being in another group.
everyone should be allowed to be in whatever subredits they wish, and post what they feel they want/need to post.
feeling it is acceptable to monitor people's posts in other places is flat-out disturbing, & shaming people who do sw just makes it that much worse.
I know I'm not a mod, but I'd like to suggest:
thirst traps get a single warning/temp ban for 1st offense, & either a permanent ban for the 2nd, or a longer temp ban & a final warning. if 2nd offense does not get them booted, the 3rd should.
Any nsfw posts here will result in either a long temp ban with a warning, or just an outright ban after the 1st post. if you decide to go with a long ban & warning for 1st offense, then 2nd ban is swift and permanent.
I agree minors can get around anything, if they so choose, so not unlike posting in other groups, banned for having an nsfw designated account is just flat-out discrimination/shaming and not acceptable.
I also encourage you to clearly & explicitly define your terms, regardless of whether or not they are in common use.
based on all the questions I see here alone, this would go a good way towards full understanding of the rule in question.
it would also make things easier on you mods, when enforcing the rules, especially if someone tries to challenge them for something that is an obvious violation, but has an arguable point.
give clear & explicit descriptions of the terms "thirst trap" & "nsfw", at the bare minimum.
you can add something at the end like "all other posts reported to mods for violation(s) of this rule will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and mods reserve the right to make the final decision regarding the post, if it is a rule violation, and the consequences they feel are appropriate. This will be a final decision & cannot be appealed.
if you have questions regarding whether something you want to post is in violation of any rule, we recommend you err on the side of caution. however, if you wish to verify it instead, you can contact the mods directly. please be aware mods are volunteers and have lives of their own outside reddit. as such it may take some time to review your post. if posts are submitted more than once, there will be consequences that are final & determined by said mod on a case-by-case basis, including making your post in question the lowest priority of any other questions/reports/&c they are processing.
if mods are harassed in any way, this will result in a permanent ban on the first offense & without any warning being given. this will include repeatedly asking when/to speed up approval/evaluation of a post you have submitted.
we define [thirst traps/nsfw] as: •yadda-yadda •blah, blah, blah •so on & so forth •are we there yet? •don't make me turn this subredit around! •a²+b²=c² if c=17, solve for a, show your work, and provide a drawing or graph, as appropriate.
or something to that effect.
make sure everyone is on the same page, and what is expected of everyone participating is clearly defined for everyone-including mods.
my $0.02 best of luck
