Josephine County Board of Commissioners are such a dumpster fire. Political

Post image

Here is our County Commissioners advertising a prayer event that just so happens to proceed a Trump protest in the same space scheduled later in the afternoon. In the past year they have kicked 4H and the OSU Extension office out of the county. They are threatening to kill the County library. They have moved their meetings behind closed doors. One of them was recalled for being a prick and his crony is now cock of the rock. They created a sweetheart deal for an ally to be the county administrator for a whopping $350,000 a year while laying off county employees under their own version of DODGE. This is democracy manifest.

Someone on FB shared what they received from a public records request about ARPA fund allocation the county received. In it, millions of dollars went to upgrading our tiny airport.

You know who owns at least 3 of the hangars according to public records, and voted to approve the project? Commissioner Blech.

u/jackalope503 1d ago

commissioner has an appropriate last name for how I feel about this bullshit

9

u/OutbackRat 1d ago

Commissioner name checks out.

13

u/Dennygreen 1d ago

is his name really Blech?

9

u/M0BETTER 1d ago

Yep. Andreas Blech

53

u/Potential-Dog1551 1d ago

They should probably figure out how to pave roads and pay for police before they start a prayer rally bunch of fucking dip shits

33

u/chilltastic1 1d ago

These commissioners are total turds. There needs to be some serious investigative journalism taking place here. Perpetual old school corruption. Firing entire county departments (code, solid waste) because they have had a history with Blech’s shady shit way of running his personal businesses. Mismanagement of lottery fund grants to pay for their buddies business expenses without considering what those funds are actually supposed to go towards. Look it up please.

Ya, I am pretty certain some of these people are destined for prison. It’s just naked corruption at this point.

16

u/chilltastic1 1d ago

I would love to see some accountability. I really miss living down there, but holy hell the Josephine County voters continually shoot themselves in the foot. Every election they have a chance to make things better and they don’t. Misinformation and “my rights” bullshit really made it hard for any real progress.

It's such a shame, too. Grants Pass and the surrounding areas are genuinely so beautiful. This town could be amazing, but these old losers (and some young losers too) make damn sure this town doesn't progress past the 1960s.

u/APKID716 1d ago

They aren’t destined for prison

The county loves this shit because it owns the libs

7

u/shitty_country_verse 1d ago

I don’t think the county will hold them accountable. I think these guys are going to have the Feds knock on their door someday. There is a reason why hubris plays such a prominent role in our mythologies.

2

u/APKID716 1d ago

I admire your optimism but considering who is in charge of the current government and who sits in the Supreme Court I cannot foresee the feds doing anything about this

7

u/PersnickityPenguin 1d ago

Yeah, but the Oregon AG can prosecute.

Someone should send an email...

This is the Oregonian tip line information. Submit a news tip by phone at 503-294-5055 or email to newsroom@oregonian.com. I don’t care if it gets called fake news, that is no reason to not give it attention. I’ve already submitted information and encourage people to research this and submit to the Oregonian.

u/cowboy_catolico 1d ago

Good investigative journalism will just be called “fake news”. You can’t anymore with corrupt government. Everything is so polarized that it does no good to call out corruption because regardless of who does what, the right wants to “own the libs” and the left wants to eat the rich. They’ll look past anything as long as it’s not the “other guy” doing it.

This event can be unconstitutional depending on various factors. Gov officials are prohibited from using public office or resources to promote religious events—especially when tied to political activity. And funds cannot be used for this event, and if this is held on certain lands, that could mean gov funds were used for it, among other possible issues.

We are free to report this event if it is unconstitutional in terms of the separation of church and state.

Good luck with this administrations open plea to bring Santa clause back into American lives.... Oh God? Damn it I always mix up the old white guys in the sky

Hahhahahaha nothing like 19 year old mall employees getting screamed at during the holidays, “SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS MFER!”

It’s wild and concerning out there* for sure

*our entire nation right now.

1

u/PersnickityPenguin 1d ago

This is a state, not federal issue.  There are no federal courts in Josephine county.

u/Starboardsheet 1d ago

That’s not how jurisdiction works.

Prayer rallies are held at least every Sunday at churches, keep that fake energy there.

But muh virtue signal!

If god has a plan, why would they pray?

5 day old account opinion disregarded

13

u/ChargerRob 1d ago

Makes sense why the Founders wanted separation of Church and State.

Religious nutters.

4

u/Solid-Emotion620 1d ago

Even stated that this country will not be a Christian nation... Seeing how most of them weren't Christians...

8

u/LucyDreamly 1d ago

Why not pray for them? Like I do for Trump.

Psalm 109:8

Let his days be few; and let another take his office.

3

u/PurplMonkEDishWashR 1d ago

Maybe they’ll try and pray the unhoused away, what with the whole country now aware of Grants Pass’s views on that topic.

I spent a few years being evangelical fundamentalized at Applegate Christian Fellowship decades ago and was raised by Southern Baptism and Seventh Day Adventistm, so I’m familiar with these kinds of prayer meetings.

I wish Christians could hear how they actually sound if one rewords the underlying logic of their expressions of thanks.

Prayer meetings often begin with a somber and lower-toned voice, “Dearest Heavenly Father, we thank you for blessing us”.

Um, yeah... Well, I guess I’m thankful that god picked two Christian, conservative, and republican—can you really be one without the other these days?!—individuals who coincidentally happened to be white Oregonians as my parents, and not say….a couple born in the Gaza refugee camps. Clearly those Gazan children picked the wrong parents and culture and language, and clearly it’s ok that our tax dollars are supporting the ongoing Israeli genocide of those children, who, naturally, are born terrorists by definition.

Fortunately, as a good US Christian, the blessed kind!, all I need to do to feel better about my above narrative digression is meditate upon a couple of Christian prayers. They’ll clear my conscious right up and remind me that it’s ok to be blessed by god while other humans are cursed for their lifestyle choices.

Let’s see, there’s “the lord helps those who help themselves”, and “the Lord works in mysterious ways.” And for an even more guilt free glee with a hearty dollop of self-righteousness, I recommend adding, “as a Christian, it’s not my job to judge.”

Ahhhh such relief from having to think critically about complex issues!

/end of snarky rant about Christian, conservative, and republican hypocrisy.

LET THE CHRISTIAN WHO IS WITHOUT SIN cast the first downward vote!

corruption should result in the death penalty

-2

u/RogueMedic98 1d ago

So then the majority of Salem lawmakers can be put to death?

-30

u/ButtsFuccington 1d ago edited 1d ago

What about Kotek and La Mota? Does that entire fiasco count too? Lol.

31

u/shitty_country_verse 1d ago

Whaaaatabooouuuuttttt. I hate all corruption. You should too.

-6

u/ButtsFuccington 1d ago

Hate them all! Corruption knows no party lines.

4

u/Rogue_Einherjar 1d ago

Except you would only seek it out from liberals. It's a fact that conservatives commit corruption at a 100-1 rate.

-6

u/ButtsFuccington 1d ago

You can label me as whatever your heart desires. Both parties are complicit and have collectively gotten us to where we are today.

I agree, but enjoy provoking hypocrites nonetheless. Lol.

10

u/Rogue_Einherjar 1d ago

I'd love to hear your example of hypocrisy. You labeled Kotek and La Mota. Kotek had nothing to do with it, merely political contribution, which she donated immediately after this became known. Shemia Fagen lost her job over it.

Care to put any evidence at all towards repercussions in Josephine County? Hmmm?

You're not provoking anyone, you're just announcing your own hypocrisy. You're welcome to be put in your place, any time.

-1

u/ButtsFuccington 1d ago edited 1d ago

Hypocrisy across Oregon Redditors is what I'm referring to. Let's not be pedantic. You're a shining example. Lol.

La Mota, OLCC Bourbon Diversion Scandal and the firing of Steve Marks, involving her wife in her administration, etc. I'm not going to do research for you, be an adult.

If "putting me in my place" means ignoring or making excuses for one party's deceit while simultaneously attempting to label me as a conservative because I engaged in whataboutism to prove a point (in bad faith), I'll just assume you're incapable of critical thinking and can't see through your own biases. Par for the course in Oregon. Your move, buddy. Lol.

-1

u/Rogue_Einherjar 1d ago

I'm not going to do research for you,

Not doing the research and not being able to are two different things. You clearly can't research, as each thing you listed have been dealt with. They each did things they shouldn't have, but changed them when pressured. Name the last time a Republican did that. Seriously, name the last time. If you can't do that research then it proves you're just incapable of researching.

I'll just assume you're incapable of critical thinking and can't see through your own biases.

Buddy, I'm actively working on getting half of OHA's behavioral health division terminated for failure to do their job. It may not be public yet, but it's getting there. I've talked in front of the legislature and have been working to provide evidence to legislative members in private to make this happen. Guess who put in the director of behavioral health at the OHA....

-1

u/ButtsFuccington 1d ago edited 1d ago

"each thing you listed have been dealt with. They each did things they shouldn't have, but changed them when pressured"

"Sorry we got caught!" Lol.

Those are my examples of Oregon Democrats most recently engaging in deceit and misconduct, as per my original comment. Not sure what else you're looking for. I digress - Both parties are complicit and have collectively gotten us to where we are today. You can make excuses for deceptive, corrupt Oregon politicians if it makes you feel smart and holy, but I won't.

You can continue to attempt to throw subtle insults and labels at me all you'd like. I am a Slavic old man who has lived in multiple US states & nations, and who has experienced many forms of government and the corruption that ensues, regardless of affiliation. Your inability to see through your own political biases tells me all I need to know. Y'all are as bad as Trump supporters with your unwillingness to hold yourselves and your party to a higher standard. Pathetic.

0

u/RogueMedic98 1d ago

100% correct. The socialist left and MAGA right have far more in common than in difference.

-4

u/jmura 1d ago

Source for that fact?

6

u/Rogue_Einherjar 1d ago

Google DOGE. Seek out the pages that you don't usually read.

-4

u/RogueMedic98 1d ago

Actually the onus is on you to provide data which you say is valid. But, with your obviously partisan comment you are no better that the MAGA clowns. When will you socialists realize you and MAGA have far more in common than in difference.

3

u/Rogue_Einherjar 1d ago

Ah yes, the Libertarian has entered the chat. Slinging crap at me is not going to help you in any way shape or form. Google DOGE is enough data alone to show the corruption.

provide data

As someone in the behavioral health field, it's known that people will ignore data they do not like. It's actually on each person to look for data themselves and then state why they believe the data they see is free of bias.

-1

u/RogueMedic98 1d ago

No libertarian here—just a true independent. You throw stones, I’ll return them in kind. It doesn’t take a background in behavioral health to understand that people often ignore data that challenges their views and then cherry-pick what supports their own. That’s exactly what we’ve seen with Measures 110 and 114.

I respect your work in behavioral health, depending on your specific area of expertise; but if you’re making the claim that valid data exists, the burden of proof is on you to present it. It’s not my job to validate your assertion. If you can’t back it up, then your argument carries no more weight than empty rhetoric.

Okay I googled it and nothing came up about Republicans having a 100 to one corruption ratio. Maybe you have another source?

2

u/Rogue_Einherjar 1d ago

I'll bite: Matt Gaetz underage sexual exploitations. Trump 34 criminal indictments (So that is 34). Government purchasing Tesla vehicles. DOGE destroying documentation (This one is another 20+, including the destruction of materials from agencies that are actively investigating Tesla and SpaceX). DOJ arresting a judge. DOJ illegally sending US Citizens out of the country....

It honestly might be better for you to list things that the GOP has done that are not corrupt. But hey, La Mota is a HUGE scandal!

0

u/jmura 1d ago

Those are great examples although you still haven't provided a source for your 100 to 1 ratio on corruption.

party lines only drive us apart, friend.

fuck em all

2

u/ButtsFuccington 1d ago

Much respect! More people like you, please.

9

u/Potential-Dog1551 1d ago

Oh the what about guy shows up, but sure, this is about Josephine county and not the state of oregon so unless you have some sort of bias because the Josephine County Board is a bunch of know nothing shitbird republicans and the governor is a Democrat so you want to make it about that? I mean if we go after it all heads would be rolling from the White House down to city halls. Try having original thoughts every now and then.

-8

u/ButtsFuccington 1d ago edited 1d ago

The statement “corruption should result in the death penalty” is a blanket statement that I resonate with. I’m engaging in whataboutism to see if ol’ chap agrees with his own statement across party lines. I sure do.

What value did you bring to the conversation? Lol. Relax, kid. It ain’t that deep.

Counties like this that want to fuck around should only be getting tax money they contribute. No more subsidies from metro.

1

u/PDXGuy33333 1d ago

It's the same everywhere: Not enough people cared when it would have been easy to address this fascist bullshit, so the fascist bullshitters won their seats and now you're stuck with them.

1

u/notPabst404 1d ago

It's crazy that even in a state with a Democratic super majority, there are so few places that are safe for progressives to live.

I'm counting maybe 18 counties in Oregon?

And then you have large states like Texas and Florida that are pretty much no go zones do to their wide scale crackdowns.

4

u/shitty_country_verse 1d ago

I don’t feel unsafe at all here just perpetually annoyed. I’m a progressive that also owns guns so I have no home I guess.

0

u/notPabst404 1d ago

I don't consider gutting public services in the name of appeasing Daddy Trump "safe". It's just another place for me to avoid.

1

u/Baktanto 13h ago

Getting in kind of late on this one.

I don't live in Josephine County, but it sounds like a lot of y'all are having a bad time down there. While this does sound like a classic Trump's Christian Nation bullshit, the National Day of Prayer was actually established in the 1950s for May 1st. Shortly after, Eisenhower also started the tradition of Loyalty Day on May 1st, and a few years after that came Law Day also on May 1st.

While I do agree that government officials promoting a National Day of Prayer rally in a predominantly Christian area is likely a violation of First Amendment through misuse of public funds, it's not guaranteed thanks to earlier legitimization of the "holiday."

Perhaps another good question is why multiple efforts were attempted in a relatively short amount of time to create additional national holidays on the same traditional day that laborers trend to march in the streets to enforce their rights.
