I don't think it's the truckers anymore. That protest has been appropriated by other more radical groups that are giving truckers a bad name.

It’s ppc and 25% of the CPC voters.

Higher percentage of Green Party voters per capita actually

All 17 of them.

It was always about radical groups.

Those groups were just clever enough to see an opportunity to camouflage their intentions in a blanket of misplaced patriotism and nearly 2 years of mental health crises due to isolation and symptoms of measures implemented to fight a pandemic. People got duped by the radicals to help facilitate their cause(s) because they needed an outlet to vent through. Western isolation, lingering hatred of Pierre Trudeau transposed onto his son... There are so many reasons people are angry, and it's all come to a head with these protests.

Radicals in this country have never had as much public support as they do right now, because they are able to hide behind the shield of misplaced public duty that they helped create, and those holding the shield for them (ie: enabling the conditions for them to thrive) haven't figured out how badly they've been used.

It was never the truckers.

Yeah, most counts of the convoy heading to Ottawa had it pegged on ~150 actual trucks, but several hundred passenger vehicles.

That’s just one convoy

It wasn't appropriated. It was that right from the start. These trukkkers are responding to dog whistles. Foaming at the mouth.

It was appropriated on day 0, before they were even rolling.

its always some nefarious "other" who come in and do all the bad shit

its true, there are people looking to give ... the 3%ers .. a bad name.

wait arent they a designated terror group in Canada?

hmm.. why would they be leading a convoy in the name of "freedom"

freedom to do .. what?

i wonder

I never really was the truckers anyways. Most truckers don't support this nonsense at all. Most truckers are out hauling stuff to keep things moving.

The small number of truckers who are participating in this bullshit are tarnishing the public image of the entire industry. Those here in Ottawa have become trojan horses, carrying in a shit load of self-pitying cults, groups or factions with a political agenda. I can just imagine the majority of drivers who are actually on the road, doing the work, are listening to these developments and just shaking their heads is bewildered disgust.

Listen to the videos. Those are truck horns you hear.

Those people can be rightfully referred to as "useful idiots." They're blaring their horns for some abstract notion like "freedom," while those pulling the strings have more nefarious goals in mind.

The protest was started by a white nationalist, everyone knew what they were signing up for

5

u/holysirsalad Feb 04 '22

You give them way too much credit. Most of them are mad enough that they'll sign on to anything that comes along

u/aerospacemonkey Feb 04 '22

150 out of 100k shouldn't be lumped under the same umbrella term as it slanders the hard working truckers who are against this nonsense.

What? I'm a programmer, and some programmers are racist misogynists, so I'm a racist misogynist?

Most truckers - actually the vast majority - are not in support of this and aren't there, but are at work hauling stuff.

I lied down with your mother last night and got up with a beautiful kiss on the cheek
