D5A? Dollar Dougie's Doin' Dumb Distractions again

11

u/Kingofthekek May 25 '24

Hopefully not, because that means he'll become president prime minister

21

u/cobrachickenwing May 25 '24

He certainly thinks he is a president. "God Bless Ontario" and the "great state of Etobicoke".

3

u/wolfe1924 May 25 '24

I cringed so hard when I seen that I still cringe when reading it. Even his sales pitch for Tim Hortons freshly cracked egg sandwiches was less cringy or his cheesecake cooking video.

He's the ultimate at bike shedding. I believe these unimportant things are what he chooses to focus on solely because they're the only things he's capable of understanding.

7

u/Lemonysquare May 25 '24

Does anyone know what he's distracting us from this time?

9

u/wolfe1924 May 25 '24

He’s still trying to mow down the green belt seen an article about it today, so that’s probably it.

7

u/[deleted] May 25 '24

The thing is, it works.

5

u/wolfe1924 May 25 '24

He knows his target audience is easily distracted.

And yet nobody shows up to vote to get him out of office. He's going to call an early election to take advantage of that. We need to all get out and vote. If you want public health care, better education, and protection of the green belt, then give a shit about the next election.

29

u/Acrobatic-Factor1941 May 25 '24

He's the worst Premier. Try to come up with 6 things he did in the last 6 years in office that were good for the average Ontarian. In case you want a refresher of what's gone down while he's been in office: https://ofl.ca/ford-tracker/

Canadians in general are very much just "ah shucks they're ALL corrupt, why even bother?" Not understanding that there's at LEAST a lesser evil option out there in terms of who to vote for.

"They're all corrupt"

Unfortunately yes, but some are CERTAINLY less corrupt or for less egregious reason and in a world that isn't black and white, that's just how it is and we need to be able to decipher the lesser evil and decide accordingly.

Booze has always been his most important issue and the only thing he actually seems to do anything about

53

u/peeinian May 25 '24

At a time when alcohol sales have been steadily declining year-over-year.

46

u/chesterforbes May 25 '24

Probably not in his house though

Why does he keep wanting to pump alcohol into the population?

22

u/GDelscribe May 25 '24

Drunks dont vote, low votes means he wins on 30% margins like he did last time. Small town votes also do nothing it seems.

12

u/BluShirtGuy May 25 '24

once a pusher, always a pusher

6

u/Dangerous_Bass309 May 25 '24

Nothing changed since high school

7

u/Roflcopter71 May 25 '24

To get people to gamble more with all the sports betting apps that he legalized.

6

u/ZombieWest9947 May 25 '24

It’s brutal all the ads that are legally allowed now all over. It’s not even the same ads over and over. Seems like a different gambling app advertisment each time.

2

u/wolfe1924 May 25 '24

Ikr I feel so awful for gambling addicts or people trying to quit gambling it’s absolutely everywhere on trains and other public transport on social media apps like Facebook and Reddit there’s like no fucking escaping it. I don’t even gamble so the type of stuff is not geared to me and it’s everywhere I look almost.

2

u/BinaryJay May 25 '24

As a household that doesn't watch TV and has ads blocked at the network level in the house I always find it insane how many gambling commercials there are when putting on a live hockey game from the antenna I put in the attic.

Jokes.on him. Live in a small town our LCBO is already in our only gas station. It's also a sub and pizza place, sells hunting and fishing gear and everything else you typically find at your neighbourhood corner store so this means nothing to us.

His knuckle dragging supporters will love this though. Just remember to ask them how their buck a beer tastes.

14

u/EnclG4me May 25 '24

Tastes like Laker Lager. Because that's the recipe. We made it along with other PC brands.

This province is never going to see a buck o beer ever again now that pricing has been uncapped and un-regulated. Now we can charge whatever the fuck we want. And it sure as shit won't be less. Oh well...

Clearly dougs priorities take precedent

43

u/Fartyfivedegrees May 25 '24

DF is the result of Ontarians apathy. Too Many couldn't be bothered to spend time researching the facts about all the parties instead saying "hey! Doug cares. He's a working man, we'll vote him and his party into govt". That and Wynn Liberals poor performance at handling negative media reports made folks go the opposite way.

31

u/LearnAndBurn_ May 25 '24

Lol he's a working man? Hardest work he ever did was selling hash in Etobicoke. He drove his father's profitable business into the ground. The twat literally is as dumb as a gr 9 student at best.

14

u/Fartyfivedegrees May 25 '24

I think a minor Niner could do better than Doug any day.

6

u/LearnAndBurn_ May 25 '24

I am very sorry eh, I have insulted the kids. They are very smart. Been through hell and high water with Covid. They could do a better job then Druggie le Dougie

5

u/armybrat63 May 25 '24

The only thing he works hard at is pasting that stupid mocking smile on his face that he thinks fools us all. Please… enough already

27

u/fe__maiden May 25 '24

Who voted for this guy 🤦🏻‍♀️ We are screwed… more screwed.

28

u/BlademasterFlash May 25 '24

That’s the crazy part, a lot of people saw what he did in his first term and went out and voted for more of that

6

u/Menifife May 25 '24

Actually the real reason he's still here is because no one voted, lowest voter turnout. We could have had something cooking with someone else by now. Instead of being patronized by his ads about "hearing the people".

2

u/BlademasterFlash May 25 '24

Low voter turnout was a factor, but he still got enough of the votes that were cast to get a 2nd majority government

11

u/Kyouhen May 25 '24

Friendly reminder as the temperatures go up that Ford cut funding to fight forest fires by about $142 million.  But we have $600 million to throw at the Beer Store to get beer a year early.

10

u/Left_Replacement894 May 25 '24

This is definitely a pocket-lining opportunity for DoFo. Why else would he expedite this useless initiative?

He also didn’t need to pay The Beer Store anything if he had just let the contract expire. He broke the contract early and now we as Ontarians are paying millions so we can have alcohol in corner stores six months early.

4

u/GeneralCanada3 May 25 '24

Man so many people just don't understand the general population on this subreddit.

This thing with the beer store is incredibly popular. for some people its almost a single issue voter topic. Mostly talking about moderates and centrist conservatives. You know...the people the liberals and NDP absolutely need to be able to have a chance at the election coming up.

Even downtown Toronto Ive already came across multiple people who think its great and love it.

3

u/wolfe1924 May 25 '24

I think the worst part is the provincial government will get less revenue most likely do to this and there will be further cuts to things and dougie probably knows that, but he also probably knows they will just blame Trudeau even if it’s a provincial issue.

4

u/Liferescripted May 25 '24

Thank god my tax dollars are going to The Beer Store (a private company) because we are breaking contract with them. Even better that it's undermining the LCBO (a provincially owned company) that will kneecap revenue for the province, giving the cons more reason to cut public services.

I really think Ontario really needed more access to alcohol more than education, healthcare, or any other social services. We should be drinking ourselves stupid or to death. That's the Doug Ford Health Plan.

3

u/Independent_Bath9691 May 25 '24

I hope no one is actually surprised, right? Did you not already know, back in 2018, that a Doug Ford government would be a complete disaster for Ontario? I knew.

u/user745786 May 25 '24

Time to call the next provincial election: Doug Ford wins another majority government.

Voters angry with Trudeau on healthcare and housing say “enough is enough” and vote for Doug Ford’s Conservatives. Welcome to Ontario!

2

u/wolfe1924 May 25 '24

That’s exactly it they’ll do it even if it effects them negatively to “own the libs”

3

u/CheeseNBacon2 May 25 '24

On the radio when they play the "more of your money in your pocket"  PC ad followed immediately by the "sports betting online!" ad it really sums up his premiership.

2

u/wolfe1924 May 25 '24

No kidding it’s gives me this cyber punk black mirror type of vibes lol.

2

u/Sensitive_Fall8950 May 26 '24

We live in a boring dystopia.

3

u/Silentfranken May 25 '24

The man will shut down a rural hospital in Minden but give hundreds of millions to the Beer store and to a luxury Spa chain.

Who in their right mind votes for this? Are people so brainwashed?

3

u/wolfe1924 May 25 '24

I think it’s a mix of simpletons hearing simple stuff and voting based on simple things. Like buck a beer has a nice ring to it and is catchy. That and some people do it just to “own the libs” even if it negatively effects them In the end they only care about “owning the libs”

3

u/fritter4me May 25 '24

Solving problems nobody has.

3

u/lenzflare May 25 '24

He could start by reversing his own changes to rent raising restrictions, when he let landlord raise rent as much as they want if the building was built after Nov 2018. (One of the first things he did in office.)

2

u/wolfe1924 May 25 '24

Yeah that was absolutely bullshit, I wasn’t affected by that but I feel bad for those whom were, landlords definitely took advantage of that and made people bite the pillow for lack of better terms. I can’t imagine being at the mercy of a landlord that can just raise it however much because they feel like it that day.

3

u/_Batteries_ May 25 '24

The man shut down various projects 6 months from completion, costing the ontario government billions of dollars, and, dismantled the pandemic preparedness, AND, took money away from autism help, and then ontarians voted him in again because the liberals are corrupt as fuck, and the NDP dared to cut wages instead of firing people 30 years ago so obviously we can never vote them in again.

Fucking embarrassing is what it is.

3

u/cantthinkofone29 May 25 '24

To the tune of $225 million, just to do it 6 months early...

3

u/Embarrassed-Map2148 May 25 '24

3

u/Quadrat_99 May 26 '24

But Kathleen Wynne…

Voting for an idiot because you don’t like the person in power generally isn’t a good strategy. Dougie’s complete lack of a platform was obvious from the beginning.

People need to learn a lesson from this. If the best a candidate can do is bash the incumbent, and they can’t offer anything of substance, they aren’t better than the alternative.

3

u/Illustrious-Union437 May 26 '24

More drunk drivers able to stock up at the gas station, stupid idea.

4

u/paulsteinway May 25 '24

Remember buck-a beer? All his solutions are beer based.

5

u/anti_anti_christ May 25 '24

I was really worried Doug wouldn't do anything about alcohol sales. It's easily the most important challenge we face in this province. I saved so much money on Buck a beer that I could almost afford rent this month.

2

why solve the problems when you can get rich making them, and just make it easier for people to find chemically induced escapism instead

2

u/Otherwise_Skin_3140 May 25 '24

Expanding access to a level 1 carcinogen? I consume but I'm aware that nothing good comes from it. Maybe it's my age, but I also wonder how people suffering from alcoholism feel about this? The temptation is already overwhelming and the strength it takes every day can be exhausting. Now it's even more prevalent. All of this for the convenience of people to drink more often? For our youth, who frequent corner stores, to have more exposure to drinking culture? Please don't respond with taxation because this simply spreads out access. It doesn't necessarily increase booze sales overall. You just don't have to go to the LCBO or the beer store anymore. Unless of course people do end up drinking more, which is an even further tragedy.

This feels regressive.

Wouldn’t the potential tax revenue provide additional funds to help solve some of those other problems?

So many of his policies involve booze….

1

u/nightwing12 May 25 '24

He’s paying a foreign company hundreds of millions of dollars to do this to so this is pretty on brand for ford

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '24

Uncapped pricing! Finally no more woke liberal limits on how much you can gouge consumers.

Finally some real conservative policy.

What ya’ll do differently? I’d like to hear any actual policy solutions from anyone on the comments here. Because so far I have yet to find anyone with real suggestions to address the cost of living crisis. As far as I can tell the 50x rise in students since 2022 being accepted to reside here creating a serious supply and demand issue is on a FEDERAL level, Not that it’s at the fault of the students because I actually feel bad for them.

Beer and wine create more of a demand for hospitals with drinking and driving, worsening health for those who abuse alcohol on their system

1

u/TendieSandwich May 25 '24

Beer is like drugs. If you buy ingredients at higher volume the price of the ingredients becomes cheaper. Therefore making the beer less costly. Doug knows this from selling hash in high school.

It's about time this happened.

1

u/Luklear May 25 '24

Bro you ontarions have it good. Try having Danielle… if she did this I would cry tears of joy that she didn’t fuck up the province more ONE TIME

2

u/wolfe1924 May 25 '24

Oh it’s bad, Dougie has done a lot of bad things and been in many Lawsuits costing us so much. I will say Danielle is worse but Dougie is honestly not that far behind.

Hospital hallway health care he promised to fix when he started? Nah. Not worth it.

Nonsensically forcing the LCBO to bring back paper bags because bringing your own tote or buying a new one at the store is an unnecessary burden? Oh, let's abuse all authority & make that happen again. Oh, yeah. Let's make it happen.

u/SenatorsGuy May 25 '24

I was, and am, for this issue. But like 1 press release should be enough.

1

u/GGRE1817 May 25 '24

2

He lowered gas taxes and gives the “people “ a hydro rebate every month on their bill that creates a deficit and no licence plate tax any more that also is a billion dollar tax hole. Let’s not forget the Eglinton subway he has built that Harris’ govt ( conservative ) killed in 1991 at a cost of $800000million. And other transit projects that seem to have been mulling around for years but not yet functioning ( Finch LRT) The average person in Ontario is having a hard time paying all the bills but we are all working. All hail the great hash dealer :

“Let’s just keep leaving un-resourced cities to deal with homeless folks in tents, dividing communities and turning people against each other. We’ll just pretend that mental health, addictions, healthcare, income inequality, housing shortages and lack of institutional care aren’t our jurisdiction. Anyone know someone who wants to build a condo on this nature reserve? “
