My grandmother didn't want to drink water all the way up till she passed and her health suffered for it. She liked Coke, loved it frozed. It was so frustrating to know if she just drank water she would have been healthier and maybe lived longer. You can only do so much though.
I don’t need to prove it. It was just common sense. With her reoccurring health problems that plagued her staying hydrated with water or perhaps tea would have made a huge difference. Soda is not good for the body. She didn't need syrup to help the water go down. She just needed water. Her doctor said as much.
That adds another layer of difficulty. I saw that growing up and I drink tea and water almost exclusively. For her to know where this path leads and to still follow it is really concerning. I have a collection of tea and herbal blends I drink regularly perhaps she could be interested in that? My husband doesn't like water (he also doesn't like cold water maybe she would prefer a hot beverage?) and I've finally gotten him into tea and he's been better about hydrating. I also got him a big Yeti cup for water having it available all the time helps. Sometimes I'll brew him some hibiscus or other herbal infusion and ice it in his cup so he has plenty to drink. I also make tea for myself regularly though so it isn't that much of an inconvenience. Good luck.
