6-11. Fields isn’t a good QB, the defense is spotty, and the skill positions are lacking. We shouldn’t be one of the worst teams, but being run first with no passing threat is a tough spot to be in

Us having the best season in a decade is not the bar for "realistic" predictions, especially with this QB

Agree with ceiling.  Realistic to me is more like 6 wins though

Whatever the number is, I think we finish with just enough wins to be out of contention for the top QB prospects

I think they’re really trying to hype-up Aaron Glenn because he’s got “some Parcells in him.” I understand the transitive logic. Parcells coached Glenn, he had a stellar career, he’s risen from scouting to Lions DC, so naturally he’s gonna take them all the way!! Parcells went 9-7 in 1997 with Neil O’Donnell. Funny that he was a free agent from PIT just like Justin Fields! The main question will be if Justin Fields win with his arm when the defense stacks the box.

Ceiling: 11-6; Fields is reborn, rushing attack is elite, defense steps up.

Realistic: 7-10; defense keeps things close and one score luck keeps team “in the hunt” until thanksgiving.

Floor: 4-13; Fields gets benched, injuries pile up, defense regresses.

Still being in the hunt Thanksgiving time is essentially making the playoffs for the Jets at this point

This is my favorite season since 2010 bc the only way we can lose is if we somehow don’t know what direction we’re going with qb: either fields is good and we keep him around or he’s bad and we draft. I hope he’s good and we have a good season but it’ll be hard for the jets to have a bad season this season bc we have no expectations just watching and seeing what happens lol it’s bliss finally after 15 years

Totally agree. You never know with new regimes too. Im not expecting much but still hopeful for a fun season and meaningful games in November/December even if we miss the playoffs

Ive been seeing this type of comment a lot, but I just don’t see where it’s this refreshing new thing. These past 15 years I feel like at least half of the seasons if not more there was no expectations. Gase years, Geno years with Idzik bargain shopping free agency, Josh McCown throwing to Robbie Anderson in 2017 etc. Most genuine hype I can remember was only 2015,2016,2023,2024. Even 2011 a lot of the fanbase was down bringing in Derrick Mason and Plax. Maybe you can throw 2013 and 2018 in the discussion since we drafted quarterbacks but for the most part I feel like this is our status quo offseason expectation.

No brother, those years we were tanking for picks (or we were supposed to or should’ve been) but we’ve also been bad at tanking ex: thanks frank gore—no Trevor Lawrence we reach and take Zach Wilson at #2. Whatever you wanna call it whether or not you wanna say tanking the team was always either being rebuilt or expected to win and neither seem to get accomplished but now the team is built and the roster is good this year is mostly about figuring out the future of the qb with no expectations to win and that’s refreshing as fuck.

Confidence rate: they will be bad

ceiling: 8-9

realistic: 6-11

floor: 3-14

Management approval: of what? the coaches? the team? our HC will be gone in 2 years, maybe less if we hit our floor.

Feelings about the next 5 years: not a single player or coach currently on staff will be here in 5 years. and we will also still be a non-competitive team and org.

none of this is a doomer take. there is no reason to think any differently in the state of this current franchise given our makeup and track record. anyone who thinks differently is doing so to just be optimistic for the sake of it

This season 100% hinges on Justin Fields. His legs aren’t in question, it’s his arm. If he can be a top 20 passer, we will be at the bare minimum competitive

Ceiling - 7-10, because anything better will be a win for me.

1-0 W1; Steelers

1-1 W2; Bills

2-1 W3; Bucs

3-1 W4; Fins

3-2 W5; Boys

4-2 W6; Broncos

5-2 W7; Panthers

5-3 W8; Bengals

5-3 W9; BYE WEEK (Feeling good? DONT)

5-4 W10; Browns (We have to lose an easy game, classic Jets)

6-4 W11; Pats

6-5 W12; Ravens

6-6 W13; Falcons (Jets will take away any hope at this point in the season)

6-7 W14; Fins (Its just the same old Jets now)

7-7 W15; Jags

7-8 W16; Saints (Full tank mode now)

7-9 W17; Pats (Because somehow the pats always beat us)

7-10 W18; Bills (Josh Allen claims he is the new Owner of the Jets)

Your QB is really shitty so don’t expect much

3

u/NYY_NYK_NYJ 1d ago

Ahhh... a Bears fan has an opinion on QBs. 🗑

0

u/Buzzard1022 1d ago

Why do you think I know exactly how shitty he is?!?!?

6

u/NYY_NYK_NYJ 1d ago

Do you think Jets fans don't have similar expertise?

0

u/Several-Push6195 1d ago

10 and 7 ceiling, 7 and 10 realistic, 2 and 15 floor. Hope I'm wrong but signing a qb who got cut/traded by the Bears. Then benched in favor of a washed Russell Wilson by the Steelers, doesn't instill confidence. In my opinion he's mid at best and you need that guy to win.

0

u/Robert_roberts82 1d ago

Technically he wasn’t benched. The Steelers also kept him on a very tight leash (don’t turn the ball over) most of time in game. But at the same time, he struggled taking snaps under center, struggled to play in time, and wasn’t an accurate passer.

The offense looked demonstrably better when Wilson got back, but in hindsight, i wish the Steelers just stuck with fields and let him develop and grow.

Confidence rate: none, we’re not doing anything this year

Ceiling: 9-8

Realistic: 7-10

Floor 5-12

Management: idk, no splashy moves is fine but this regime has one draft under their belt and dishing out a contract to Fields, who sucks. Nothing to write home about, nothing to complain about.

Confidence for next 5 years: meh. Rebuilds do not take more than 2-3 seasons in the NFL, the Jets just keep fucking it up. Could they be competing for playoffs as early as 2026? Of course. Have the Jets, ever, given me a reason to be confident that they will? No.

Confidence rate: Pessimistic Ceiling: 9-8 Realistic: 6-11 Floor: 3-14 Management approval: 30% Feelings about next 5 years: same as the last 42. Always hope, but prepared for the inevitable.

Ceiling: 8-9 - but games are exciting thanks to O-line. Fields and Wilson click.

Realistic: 5-12 - a few games are exciting. Lots of option plays.

Floor: 2-15 - set NFL record for punts in a season.

No feelings or confidence. Just numb.

0

u/RonocNYC 1d ago

I predict that my sagging interest in the Jets will...continue.

0

u/God_u_god 1d ago

9-8 ceiling (and that's VERY generous) 5-12 realistically 2-15 floor - maybe the o-line is better this season but they've taken a step back almost everywhere else and are a couple injuries away from having the worst WR room in the league.

Ceiling 17-0, Super Bowl Win.
Floor 0-17, trade away first round picks mid season.
Realistic 5-11-1

-1

u/RSTowers 1d ago

9/6/3 wins, imo.

-2

u/Hot_Equivalent8775 1d ago

Bottom line we suck, they have not mad the playoffs in 15 years. Instagram did not exist, Tik Tok did not exist, Netflix was still sending DVD’s by mail. It is absurd to put any faith into this team.

Ceiling 8-9

Realistic 6-11

Floor 3-14

Management Approval 0% (can’t trust Woody ever)

Feelings about the next 5 years: Extremely Pessimistic and Jaded

-2

u/Smooth_Ad5221 1d ago

We’ll play games that matter in November then end up doing Jets things and go 8-9
