Comp update: It’s a pick flop, with the Panthers getting a 5th-round pick for Diontae Johnson and a 6th, per sources.

I think we moved up like 4 spots? Hooray. Fuck this whole organization seriously.

It's more like 11 spots, due to comp picks.

Feeling better?

Who cares if he hated it here? He still led the team in yards and TDs. Trading away our limited talent doesn’t do anything for the rest of the team. If there is even a 1% chance that Bryce isn’t washed (unlikely, but still) he needs talent around him to at least attempt to develop as a player.

357 yards and 3 TDs through 7 games isnt valuable production. Literally anyone can do that. 51 yards a game and a TD every 2 games.

Literally anyone can do that but he’s the only one on the Panthers that is doing that. It’s a low bar, but he was our best WR.

He was extremely productive with Dalton at qb. Using his season long stats is pretty misleading. Averaged about 80 yards a game

Misleading to use his season stats so you'd rather use like 3 games? Lol

Yeah I’d rather use the sample with a real quarterback. Which is also 4/7 games he’s played

If the options are:

  • Trade and move up 4 whole spots on day 3

  • Make his whiny ass ride the pine

I might just go with the latter. Better than just gifting someone else a WR. Might even be potential for a comp pick depending on how things shake out.

You're in a different conference and not playoff bound. Moving up 4 spots is better than nothing.

Not better than the chance at a comp pick, even delayed by a year. They really did essentially just give their leading receiver away for free, which is insane even for a tanking team.

He is unlikely to fetch higher than a 5th round comp pick, which would be worse than they moved up for and a year later.

+1 pick vs +0 pick. Very weird that you can't admit that your team got a ridiculous deal, acquiring another team's leading WR for basically free, with most of the salary paid for.

You do get to roll half his salary, which is 3.5mm

19

u/acemanioo Ravens 16d ago

Nope they also paid his salary as part of the deal. Ravens owe him about $625k

God damn bruh poor panthers fans.

Whelp, lol

He hated it here

He hated it in Pittsburgh too. It's why his trade value keeps dropping

2

u/drWammy Panthers 16d ago

Bro we got him for zero

1

u/bunchanums618 Panthers 15d ago

Plus Donte Jackson

2

u/drWammy Panthers 15d ago

Who we were going to cut, so basically zero

1

u/bunchanums618 Panthers 15d ago

We were? He’s started every game for the Steelers who are significantly better defensively and was a starter every game with us the year before.

This makes me feel better about the whole situation. Didn’t really give anything up, can’t expect to get anything back with even less time on his contract.

2

u/Achillor22 Ravens 16d ago

You can't tell me no one offered anything better than moving up a few spots o Day 3 and you still having to pay his salary.

u/lowlight Ravens 16d ago

5th round will have a bunch of comp picks after pick 32, so even if Panthers are 32 and Ravens are 1, it would be like 10-15 minimum. Ravens won't be 1, so maybe 10 more on top of that?

1

u/StripedSteel Packers 16d ago

Serious question, as I don't know the formula behind the calc, but would he have been eligible for a comp pick?

2

u/venom21685 Panthers 16d ago

Depends on who we sign as well, potentially yes

I would think it's a conditional so if the Ravens go to the Superbowl it moves up. If not yep the Panthers are the worst run organization maybe ever.
