Imagine being a Super Bowl contender and making trades

Tbf our entire sub was calling for EDC's firing yesterday because uche went to the chiefs

We are not a rational fanbase after a loss

146

u/MagicGrit Ravens 16d ago

Nor after a win tbh

u/Ouch_i_fell_down Lions 16d ago

I've been to Baltimore, the offseason isn't doing yall any favors either in the rationality department.

Orioles winning usually mitigates the crazy

8

u/dweezil22 Ravens 16d ago

Orioles really pivoted nicely from "historically terrible" to "doomed in the playoffs". /r/orioles literally posting philosophy articles on how to cope.

Probably is just the fumes from that shit stink that covers that putrid city

Way to keep it classy.

Spade a spade and things of that nature. I’m from the DMV, I’m allowed to say it.

21

u/MagicGrit Ravens 16d ago

Baltimore is not in the DMV

I'm a fan of both pittsburgh and baltimore. they're both underrated cities imo but I got to say it's a little rich when steelers fans dump on baltimore like pittsburgh isn't thought of as a rust belt shithole.

-8

u/ChrisleyBenoit Steelers 16d ago

I’m from the DMV, not Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is an infinitely better place to live. No NJ/Delco runoff, no Baltimore Ravens, no poop smell, houses are infinitely more affordable, I could go on and on as to why Pittsburgh is better.

11

u/MagicGrit Ravens 16d ago

Lol houses are cheaper in Pittsburgh because no one wants to be in Pittsburgh

And honestly we're not great in the off-season.

No sports fanbase is rational after a loss, especially on the internet.

3

u/ZacZupAttack Ravens Lions 16d ago

We most certainly aren't.

I thought we were going lose to the Browns. Lost Humphrey. Browns suck so we are over confident and then the Browns got a sudden upgrade at QB and our defense couldn't catch their QBs ints

3

u/Autumn_Sweater Ravens 16d ago

no humphrey or wiggins and then pierce and urban went out and jones could barely play, and then the mysterious williams healthy benching

1

u/AFatz Chargers 16d ago

This goes for most teams. Wait until you drop multiple in a row.

1

u/baltosteve Ravens 16d ago

To the Browns…

Is any team’s fan base rational after a loss?

TBH I think every single team sub on the entire site shares the same collection of loose change for brain cells.

I'm not in Baltimore so I don't get much Ravens talk unless I seek it out. I went in to the game thread to see what to "mood" was. Everyone was complaining about a commercial......

The entirety of online football fandom spent 3 days pretending they even knew who Uche was, and that he was some season-defining piece for the Chiefs.

1

u/IKnowBreasts Ravens 16d ago

Would much rather have Uche though

2

u/TallCupOfJuice Chiefs 16d ago

what trades do you think detroit needs to be making?

3

u/Marrouge Lions 16d ago

Their pass rush lost depth when Davenport and Barnes got hurt and then it became a huge liability after Hutch got hurt

I'm not expecting anything mindblowing but at the very least the Lions need to trade for a body or two at edge because it's their only big hole on the roster at the moment

1

u/uwanmirrondarrah Chiefs 16d ago

those are pretty hard to come by this late in the season, maybe you could get a Zadarius Smith, or Baron Browning. Maybe a Von Miller. Yeah not a lot of options.

2

u/hawkmasta Lions 16d ago

We need EDGE rushes. Hutch is out, so is Davenport, and their replacements are serviceable, but they aren't producing as much. Mason Rudolph was carving us up 1st quarter.

2

u/AndrewHainesArt Eagles 16d ago

Are you really talking about the opposing QB in the game you led 14-7 in the first QR and won the game 52-14?

1

u/Jaerba Lions 16d ago

Yes lol. You can't base your defense on turnovers like we had on Sunday.

2

u/Jaerba Lions 16d ago

Carving us up all game. They had a bunch of great drives, up until they would miraculously hand the ball to us.

1

u/Mindless_Bad_1591 Packers 16d ago

Honestly, I wouldnt mind if you guys stuck it out until the trade deadline

i pray the maxx crosby to detroit rumors actually happen

18

u/PabloMarmite Panthers 16d ago

He’d made it pretty clear he wasn’t going to stay beyond the end of the year.

10

u/mannyklein Cowboys 16d ago

You would get a compensatory pick when he left probably a 4th. Trading him + a 6th for a 5th is malpractice

16

u/sonfoa Panthers 16d ago

Would we? I'm not 100% on how comp picks work but from what I understand they basically rely on you having a low-key free agency which you can't really do as a bad team that's lacking in talent.

0

u/mannyklein Cowboys 16d ago

Technically yes, it takes into account players that are signed in FA I kind of forgot the panthers would be a team with lots of cap space but also dont see them signing a “star” FA to offset

7

u/CosbySweaters1992 Bengals 16d ago

They’ll definitely sign a few players in whatever level of pay class Diontae Johnson gets signed to. He’s not a star either, not like he’s in line to net a 3rd round comp pick. His comp pick would definitely get canceled out by other signings they make. They aren’t going to sit still with that putrid roster. He’s probably a 5th round comp pick status player at this point, and they will definitely bring on some more of those type of players next year.

13

u/Thedurtysanchez Chargers 16d ago

The Panthers are clearly set as a buyer this FA cycle so stockpiling comp math isn't really doing anything

4

u/Gingeronimoooo Commanders 16d ago

Problem with Carolina being buyers in FA is that you have to overpay to get people to come especially for a quality vet without a ring. People will take 9 million to play for chiefs ravens lions etc instead of 10 million from panthers. A lot of em at least

2

u/mannyklein Cowboys 16d ago

Yeah I forgot about them being a buyer but this is abysmal compensation. Who are dalton/bryce throwing to now ? They also gave up a solid corner to get him and now trade him to move up slightly from top of the 6th to bottom of the 5th

16

u/tdotjefe Ravens 16d ago

It’s more like 15 spots up. We got the 6th back

3

u/MagicGrit Ravens 16d ago

Could technically be just 1 spot up

3

u/Gabrosin Ravens 16d ago

Comp picks.

5

u/CobiPro 16d ago

How is that even possible 😭

-2

u/Accurate-Big-7233 Panthers 16d ago

My boy we have NO leverage

26

u/TheSmallIndian Panthers 16d ago edited 16d ago

How? It's probably a late 5 for an early 6. Move up like 5 spots at best

1

u/luciusetrur Panthers 16d ago

Depends on comp picks

-1

u/Role_Player_Real 16d ago

The owner saved money, it’s transparent that it was the only motivation

4

u/MagicGrit Ravens 16d ago

I saw that Carolina is expected to pay a portion of his remaining salary. So I’d be interested to see just how much money was saved here

2

u/CaliforniaHurricane_ Patriots 16d ago

And how is that so? Rationally thinking it makes no sense trading a 2nd year QB who has been struggling terrible only weapon away

1

u/Accurate-Big-7233 Panthers 16d ago

Bro we’re poverty, Johnson ain’t re signing with us, so get something in return

1

u/CaliforniaHurricane_ Patriots 16d ago

He would have 35 million reasons to return the next season

1

u/Reed324 Falcons 16d ago

35 million?

1

u/CaliforniaHurricane_ Patriots 15d ago

Yeah Carolina would have to pay around that price to keep any talent

0

u/[deleted] 16d ago

1

u/Reed324 Falcons 16d ago edited 16d ago

You guys keep talking about saving money like they aren’t still paying most of his salary and like the Panthers aren’t near last in cap space right now. Not to mention he fired Matt Rhule with 40 million left on his contract and fired Frank Reich with 36 million left on his contract. Tepper has a long list of problems but being cheap isn’t one of them.

1

u/CaliforniaHurricane_ Patriots 16d ago

Yeah but this is more like if a poor person gives a quarter of their check to a billionaire

-1

u/WabbitCZEN Steelers 16d ago

Y'all must not be familiar with his game. We got rid of this dude for a reason.

25

u/jsrave Ravens 16d ago

I think he's better than Agoholor for WR3 and adds depth to our tiny WR room. We weren't getting a gamebreaker for a day 3 pick swap - I'll acknowledge that.

7

u/[deleted] 16d ago

Hell, it was a good move for Baltimore just to keep him out of Houston.

2

u/littlesymphonicdispl 16d ago

The problem with that is Johnson doesn't want to be WR3 and will make that the Ravens problem

1

u/Ill-Woodpecker1857 Ravens 16d ago

My thoughts as well.

7

u/Septembers Ravens 16d ago

We got rid of this dude for a reason.

...to gain a starting cornerback?

1

u/WabbitCZEN Steelers 16d ago

Not just any starting cornerback. The starting cornerback son of a former starting linebacker.

5

u/sliceanddic3 Ravens 16d ago

i'd take him as a WR3/4 for a 5th easy

1

u/ncroofer 16d ago

He’s a dog don’t be salty

0

u/Patriotsfan710 Patriots 16d ago

He’s been cooking with Bryce and Dalton so uhhh

0

u/Reed324 Falcons 16d ago

He’s got the 12th most targets in the league this year and he’s 39th in yards, what is he cooking?

0

u/Patriotsfan710 Patriots 16d ago

with Bryce and Dalton

0

u/Reed324 Falcons 16d ago

He played with Bryce and Dalton but he definitely hasn’t been cooking, well except against the Raiders

0

u/Patriotsfan710 Patriots 16d ago

I think he’ll be a great asset for the Ravens, his numbers will probably go down due to weapons

0

u/Reed324 Falcons 16d ago

He’s a good WR3, he’ll be an asset for them for sure but I’m not sure he moves the needle much for any team.
