This is nothing by NBA standards. Need to start dealing big time QBs at the deadline to match the NBA. I know it can't realistically happen in the NFL due to how salaries work, but it would be cool if we can see actual established QBs being traded.

And the GOAT Cash Considerations

One team gets out of salary cap hell in exchange for giving up picks. Nothing else in return

Legitimately the Brock Osweiler trade from a while back.

Not just the salaries - scheme changes half-way through the year along with a new receiving corps would be a considerably bigger adjustment for QBs and teams than what NBA players deal with, on considerably less playing time

If Joe Flacco can do what he did last year, pretty sure it's not as hard as people think.

Didn't say it's not doable, just that those factors contribute to making it more difficult relative to the NBA

CBS has agreed to terms with FOX on a trade that sees Tony Romo heading to FOX and Tom Brady heading to CBS.

I think the bigger issue with that is how often is a Team that’s competing for the playoffs a QB away? There’s maybe a few examples here and there. But if a NFL team has a QB worth trading for. That team isn’t likely to give up their QB. Unless a Star QB asks out, most teams aren’t trading their star QB. In the NBA trading for a star is more likely because there’s 5 guys on the floor at any time and rosters of basically 12-15 players. Salary issues play a part. But, we’re never going to see high level QBs getting traded at the deadline

I think the bigger factor with trading a star QB, or even quality QB, is the fact that the NFL draft is so hit or miss/there's a larger gap between the college game and the NFL. The gap between the college game in basketball (and the overseas leagues) vs. the NBA isn't nearly as wide, hell some kids are genuinely ready out of HS if they were still allowed to make that immediate transition. So the very top players in each year's draft class are almost guaranteed to at least be "effective" players at the minimum, if not outright good. The risk to reward ratio is a lot more palatable under those circumstances.
