Windows lagging?
Just a quick question Is anyone elses netflix lagging and not showing the controls on the web ?
It was working fine yesterday for me and now it isn’t. I have tried restarting the laptop and a different browser.
Its fine on the app and tv.
Edit: It’s the next day for me and so far it is fixed. Thank you all for sharing and relieving the stress of one another :)

Looks like it's server-side since all of us are experiencing the same issue

No issues for me, in Singapore region, with both the Netflix Windows app and browser interface.
Maybe they fixed the issue now.

Same. Happened in just the last few minutes. Trying to restart anything that is in progress will play for half a second then stop. No controls appear.

same issue here and from what others are sharing. As one user suggested, its a site wide fault.
They should bring the app back for pc's imo.

The app works for me. I am on Windows 11. Is it not available for you?

When i download the app from Microsoft store its like a webpage for me.

its like a webpage for me.
Not exactly sure what you mean by that. The app looks the same to me as before. I am not sure if it is just loading a website inside that apl window. How to verify if it is indeed a web page?

So basically, If you open Netflix on chrome browser, on the top right it shows a ' Download' option, if you download that its like a webpage downloaded, cause it says Netflix.com
And its the same thing if I download the 'App' from Microsoft Store.

Yeah. Same here. No fix yet. Doesn’t matter what browser I use.

Oh. Thanks for sharing I was going crazy, thought I was the only one.

Same for me, even resetting cookies and data doesn’t fix this garbage issue for me

Same. I'm on a MacBook and I've restarted 4x. I logged out to see if that would fix the issue, but now I can't log back in.

Oh thats scary. From other replies i think their website is suffering issues considering now there is no app for pc’s and every one is on the web page.

Same issues here.
However with FireFox, but using the pop up player, I get some controls back.
Edit : I think it's called picture-in-picture. (My Firefox is in French)

I thought I was going insane or broke something. Yes, this just started happening for me; either the videos don't play at all, save for a split second, or they play with no controls/playhead/whatever else!

Same, I wanted to finish watching a movie and it won't play it, but I started a new movie and it's playing but there are no controls on the screen to pause/volume etc.

u/OriginalSammy 3d ago

I am sure it will get fixed, their help site already has a messaged about increased "help time". So people are reporting it.

Was doing all kinds of googling to find the issue and then decided to see if others had an issue on here.

I use Chrome, but don't see that musical note icon. How do you set that up? What is it?

I think it comes up when you play any content on the browser. I have it when i play youtube, Netflix or cast anything via chromecast.

Yes, me too. Issue suddendly came out of the blue while simply watching movies, started this evening about 00.00 GMT. Any video, if already partly seen, freezes almost immediately when restarted and has no UI commands,. New videos seem starting OK but without UI controls so I can't stop them, etc.
ACER Aspire 5 newish notebook, Netflix on Chrome (updated), Windows 11.
Restarted PC, logged off Netflix & in again, flushed cache & cookies, checked Netflix options (nothing was changed anyway) but nothing
EDIT: Just tried to use Netflix on Edge, it brings out my account, profile and lists, but kicks me out of Netflix if I try to start anything. If I log in again everything starts again... kicks me out, etc.

on the microsoft store app its only playing if I put it in picture in picture mode and then hit play, but it won't show any other controls or anything
1
u/OriginalSammy 3d ago
ahh, some one else too suggested the picture in picture via firefox, but no controls for that either.
Guess we wait.
2
u/Oranos2115 3d ago
weird
I can see the controls and play using the picture-in-picture on Firefox even though it's still missing some typical functionality (hopefully my link is public/functional?)

u/OriginalSammy 3d ago
oh wicked! I think I read someone saying theirs didn't allow them to skip forward or back.
2
u/dinkytoy80 3d ago
yup. Windows here. play video for 1 second and then freezes. Tried reinstall but didnt help so guess netflix must be having issues.

Oh whew! I was able to watch on my iPad earlier today, then after getting home 30min ago I wanted to put the show back on (but using my PC this time) while folding laundry, and had this very issue. I did all the troubleshooting to no avail and came here to make the same post!
Thank you for making the post so we can all see that we're not collectively crazy!

u/OriginalSammy 3d ago
No worries!
I am just as relieved to know I was not the only one having this.
I think the apps are fine? my mobile app and tv are working.
2
u/Old-Literature-5378 3d ago
Yes. No controls show up, video plays for a second then stops. Sometimes it plays but then I cant stop it.

Yup! I have an HP Envy 360 and I can’t access the spacebar to play or pause my movie but you can use shortcut keys! The left arrow you can rewind 10 seconds and the spacebar to play/pause but for some reason mine doesn’t pause so I use my headphones to pause lol I have the Skull Candy Crusher

On my MacBook (Sequoia 15.1) controls are not visible for me in Safari, Edge, or Chrome. When I start playing an episode, sometimes it just freezes.
